What part of today’s meditation spoke most deeply to your heart? Share your thoughts - we’d love to hear from you.

Hello, and welcome to Selah – a sacred pause in the noise of life.
I invite you to find a quiet spot, free from distractions, where you can fully focus on God’s presence.
As we move through this meditation, engage your heart and mind—visualize the scriptures, let the words take root in your soul, and repeat the prayers.

Today, we’re reflecting on Matthew 25:4:
"The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps."

This verse is a reminder to stay spiritually prepared. The oil represents readiness—faith that endures, a heart filled with the Spirit, and a life lived in expectation of Christ’s return.

Let’s Begin.

Close your eyes.
Take a slow, deep breath in…
 Hold…
 Exhale slowly…

"Quiet my heart, Lord. Help me to be fully present with You.
I rest in the knowledge that You are here,
shaping me, molding me, and completing a good work in me."

I picture myself among a group waiting in the night for a wedding procession to arrive. The air is still, the lamps glow faintly. Some look anxious, realizing their oil is running out. But in my hand, I hold a lamp filled and ready, and beside me a jar of oil—prepared for the long wait.

I hear the words:
"The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps."

Wisdom is not hurried—it is prepared. Wisdom looks ahead, keeping the flame alive no matter how long the night lasts.

As I stand there, I realize: my oil is faith that trusts, prayer that sustains, Scripture that lights the way. Readiness is not fear—it is steady devotion.

And when the cry comes, “Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!” my lamp burns bright, and I step forward with joy.

"Father, thank You for reminding me to live with readiness.
Forgive me for the times I grow careless or distracted.

Fill me with the oil of faith, the fire of Your Spirit, and the patience to endure.
Keep my lamp burning brightly, so that when You come, I will be found ready and waiting with joy."

 Let’s take a deep breath in…
 Hold…
 Exhale slowly…

Now another deep breath in…
 Hold…
 Exhale slowly…

Speak these truths over your soul:

"My lamp is filled with faith."
"The Spirit keeps my flame alive."
"I live with readiness and devotion."
"I am watchful, patient, and prepared."
"When Christ returns, I will be ready."

"Thank You, Lord, for calling me to live in readiness.
Help me to walk wisely, to keep my lamp filled with faith,
and to live each day with expectancy and devotion.
When You come, let me be found faithful, with my light burning bright for You."

Until next time, I will stay in Your presence and let hope overflow.
 Selah.
