Becoming the Brightest Version of You ~ When Your Sun Shines Through ✨
📍 Astrology isn't just about signs and symbols; it's a tool for navigating real life. Hello and welcome to Astrology with Alisa. I'm your host, Alisa Dixon, and I'm so glad you're here. Let's dive in. So last week I talked about the three primary energies: the Sun, the Moon, and the rising sign. And as my husband, Kevin, listened, he said, "Well, now you have to talk about the Sun." At first, I shrugged it off because I really didn't think I had that much to say about it, and I even asked my son Will.
Do I need to do a whole episode just about the Sun? And he said, No, Mom. Everybody already knows their son. It's your birthday sign. And he's probably right. It felt too simple, too obvious. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that my reaction was actually part of the whole story.
Because when it comes to the Sun, I've actually struggled to describe it, and that's the point. The Sun energy should be easy. Everyone knows their birthday, so you're a Virgo or a Gemini or a Scorpio. Still, feeling into that energy and understanding what it really means to live as your Sun sign isn't easy at all.
The Sun isn't something you know how to do. The Sun is your spirit, your potential, the energy you're always becoming. It's not about comfort. It's not about coping. It's about stepping into yourself. The Sun is your self-expression, your creativity, your authentic self, your determination. It's the light you shine into the world when you're fully alive, not the light someone gave you, the light you generate.
It's your why, your life force, your radiance. But it doesn't always come naturally, and it certainly doesn't show up on day one. Think about when you're a kid and someone asks you, "What do you wanna be when you grow up?" and you say all kinds of things —you have tons of answers. A firefighter, a teacher, a movie star, that was me.
I wanted to be a movie star. I may still stay tuned, but when it comes time to choose —when you graduate high school, pick a path, and start a career —it suddenly feels so much harder. When I went to college, I was thrilled to be undecided for a few semesters because deciding on a major felt like pressure, and I really didn't know what I wanted.
Clarity, purpose, direction. These don't always arrive early in life. That's what the Sun brings when we begin to align with it. Now, compare that to the moon. The moon is your soul energy, your emotional rhythm, how you feel, how you respond, how you find security. It's the part of you that takes over when you're tired, overwhelmed, or under stress.
It's the comfort zone. So, for example, if you're a Pisces Moon, you may need to cry it out or take a bath or escape into music. If you're an Aries moon, you need to move fast, hard, and physically. If you're a Capricorn moon like me, you throw yourself into a work structure that calms you. The moon is instinctual.
It's the energy you return into for comfort. It's your emotional home base. The Sun is different. It's not where you retreat, it's where you step forward. Your Sun is the energy you grow towards. Not something to master or perfect, but something to embody more fully over time. It's about becoming, about choosing again and again to live as the brightest, boldest version of yourself.
And your natal chart is a map of potential, right? It's not a prediction. Your Sun is a potential energy that you may grow into. You can resist it, you can delay it. You can even take a detour. But that light, it's always there inside of you waiting to shine.
