📍 Astrology isn't just about signs and symbols, it's a tool for navigating real life. Hello and welcome to Astrology with Alisa. I'm your host Alisa Dixon, and I'm so glad you're here. Let's dive in. We are still in the heart of Cancer season, and it feels like the perfect time to tell you a story. This is a story about family, about ancestry, dreams, timing, and a series of conversations that unfolded over almost two months. I've actually been planning to share this story for a while, but I kept waiting because I knew Cancer season was the right time. One of the things I love most about Cancer is that we often reduce it to home and family, and of course it is. But Cancer and the fourth house that it naturally rules also speak to something so much deeper: our roots, our lineage, the emotional memories we inherit, the stories that live inside a family long after the people themselves are gone. Cancer reminds us that not every feeling can be explained logically. Sometimes we carry emotions that seem older than we are And Cancer season asks us not to judge those feelings. It simply asks us to honor them. And that's why today felt like the right time to share this story. So if you've been listening for a while, you probably remember my friend Parisa Gamblen. She's an astrologer and a dream consultant, and she joined me on the podcast back in January for one of my favorite conversations all about the astrology of dreams. We explored how she had noticed through years of working with clients that often people have specific types of dreams based on where the sun and the moon are. This was a really popular episode. We went sign by sign talking about what kinds of dreams people might have during each zodiac season. And I'll put the link to it in the show notes in case you missed it. But a couple of months later, something happened that neither of us could have anticipated, and because Parisa lives in Canada, most of our conversations happen through WhatsApp voice messages. As this story unfolded, we unknowingly documented almost all of it in real time through these voice messages. So today, instead of just telling you what happened, I want you to experience it with us. I changed my friend's name for privacy, so in this episode I'll call her Mary. But other than changing her name, everything you're about to hear is exactly how this story unfolded And it all began with a casual conversation after a workout one morning. Mary told me she'd been listening to the Dreams episode, and before I even left the gym parking lot, I sent Parisa this voice message. Hello, my friend. I was just working out with a lady, and she told me that she really enjoyed our podcast together about the dreams. And she was sharing that her husband always wakes up. We were talking about Saturn and the old man in the dreams and laughing about it. And she said, "Oh, or an old lady. My husband has this recurring dream that an old lady is chasing him. He's a little boy, and this old lady is chasing him, and he wakes up a lot." And she's always like, "Oh, is it the old lady again?" And he's like, "Yep." And this has been happening for twenty-five years, uh, like the whole time they've been married. And, um, so I was like, "Oh my gosh, I'm gonna ask my friend and see what she has to say about that." And so I wanted to send you this voice message about this literally while it was fresh. Um, her husband is an Aries. I don't know if that makes any difference. But, I don't know. . I asked if it happened near a full moon or a new moon, and she said she didn't know, but she said she knows it better than he does 'cause he wakes her up because, he's kind of tossing and turning, and she's like, "Oh, it's the old lady again." So isn't that funny? I was just curious your thoughts. Um, anyway, I hope you're doing well. Much love, and let me know what you think about this old lady in the dream. All right, take care. Bye. Okay, so needless to say, I was excited. Not because I thought we were about to unravel some great mystery. I was really just excited that someone was still talking about our dreams episode. That made me really happy. I thought it was a cool story, and I figured if anyone would have an interesting take on an old woman chasing someone through a dream, it would be Parisa So a little while later, she sent me this. Hello, Alisa. S- I was so excited to get your message. With regards to the dream, it really matters where this person is from, I just need to know their ancestral lines. An old woman is usually linked to your ancestral line. So whether you're of Slavic, ancestral line, a Greek ancestral line, Persian or, or European, Irish, German, all of those, cultures have their own old woman. But, , there is three themes that is quite common in the old woman. Um,, so it's running away from Something that he knows, like deep inside him he knows, but he's, , running away from it. He doesn't want to do that. Um, or it would be these are all, oracles, magicians, psychics, um, intuitives. So it's running away from your own intuitive nature or magical gift that you have. Um, the other theme was a protector, a keeper, like they are the keeper of or they are protecting the fountain of youth, so there is something that, he's, um, not wanting the responsibility of protecting something. So, in your dream, you're running away from a figure, but it's usually a responsibility that you're running away from, um, uh, represented by a character. I hope that helps. So this was cool. I was excited to have something to tell Mary, but almost a month went by before I saw her again at the gym. I didn't have her phone number, and our schedules hadn't overlapped. So after our workout, I told her I'd reached out to Parisa, and I shared Parisa's take on it. And Mary smiled, and without even hesitating, she said, "Wow, that makes complete sense." And she shared that her husband was the oldest son in the family, and for years he had struggled with the responsibility of eventually becoming the one who would care for his parents. And about a year earlier, his father had passed away. His mother needed more help, and almost overnight, he stepped into that role. So I asked her, "Do you think the dreams stopped around the same time?" And she paused, thought about it, and then said, "You know, I think they did." So 25 years of the same recurring dream, and then once he embraced this responsibility that he'd been running from, the dream disappeared. I remember smiling and sitting there thinking, "Wow, that alone is a pretty cool story." . But then Mary got quiet. She looked at me, she said, "You know, this really has me thinking about my own dreams." And then she shared a really personal story She told me that when she was just 10 years old, her father had passed away. And for years after that, every time there was a major family milestone, A wedding, a celebration, a big family event, he would come to her in a dream. , He would simply show up. And in the dream, she was always angry, because the little 10-year-old girl inside of her still felt abandoned. She told me that even though she knew in her head he hadn't chosen to die he hadn't chosen to leave, , her heart still felt that hurt of the little girl who lost her father. And as she got older, the dreams continued, through multiple miscarriages. Every time he would come, still looking exactly as he had when he had died, still sick, still pale. And then she became pregnant, and the pregnancy held. She had her son, who's now 18 years old, about to graduate from high school. And after her son was born, the dreams stopped, she hadn't dreamed about her father in 18 years. And then she said, "I miss him." Even though she'd been angry all those years, she realized those dreams were the one place where her dad still felt like part of the family. She told me, "He didn't come when I had my baby. I wanted him to meet my baby. I wanted him to still be there, and now he's gone." And I sat there just taking it all in. I was at a loss for words, and I remember thinking, "I have to ask Parisa about this." Not because I was looking for an explanation, but because if there was anything, anything at all that might bring Mary a little bit of comfort, I wanted to hear it. I wanted to be able to share that with her. So once again, before I left the gym parking lot, while everything was still fresh, I picked up my phone and I sent Parisa another voice message And here's what she sent me back Okay, a little girl that loses a father at the age of 10, um, feels abandoned, and it doesn't matter that she knows that he was sick. It's that abandonment, that made her angry at a soul level. And, um, so dreams, it's amazing place because your body, your heavy body is not bound to this heavy planet Earth. Our soul actually can detach from the heaviness of Earth and earthly body, and there is a place like a border. Um, it's just like a border between two countries, like Canada and US has this border where, without any visa, or passport control, there is this park that, um, US citizens and Canadian citizens can go in and meet. And it's like we can't go any further into US without a passport, and they can't come any further into Canada without a passport. But there is this park where we can go in and have a picnic together. And in your dreams, again, there is a space where the people who have passed away and the people who are living have this very thin space where they could meet, and therefore dreams of your loved ones who have been passed away is much more possible This is what happened every time there was an important thing. It was like the father was calling them and saying that I am still a part of that family. We can still come together in this very ethereal place in time that, um, that we can meet. The anger is because of the abandonment, Wow. After listening to Parisa's message, I couldn't wait to see Mary again. Not because I wanted to explain it or convince her of anything. I simply wanted her to hear the words for herself, exactly as Parisa had said them. Parisa had gone on to say much more, far more than I shared with you today, and I wanted Mary to hear it all. But I had no way to reach her. I didn't have her phone number. We never texted. We were simply two women whose paths crossed every once in a while. At the gym. So every time I walked in, I'd look around, hoping she'd be there. A week went by, nothing. Another week, nothing. And then finally, a couple weeks later, I saw her. I made a beeline for her after our workout. I said, "Mary, I have something I need you to hear." We sat down together. I handed her my phone, and for almost 10 minutes, we listened. Neither of us said very much. We just listened, took it in, and when the recording ended, Mary sat quietly for a minute, and then she told me something she'd never shared before. She became incredibly close to her father-in-law because after losing her dad, he became the father figure in her life. She told me that about five years earlier, as he was dying in hospice, he kept saying the same thing, "I just wanna make it to graduation." She said he talked about graduation over and over again, five years before graduation. And then she looked at me and she said, "Today is my son's graduation." And she said, "I've been thinking about both my dads all morning, being so sad that they're not here on such an important day, graduation We both had goosebumps, I got back to my car, but before I drove home, I picked up my phone and I sent Parisa one more message Parisa, I have the coolest thing to tell you. It is May 19th. Today is the day of my friend's son's graduation, and I've been hoping to catch her at the gym for the last few weeks to share with her what you had said, and we just didn't see each other until today. " And today is the day that I saw her again after weeks, right? When we had this conversation last. And today is the day that her father was able to get this message to her through me, through you, through this whole interaction, , and now I, it's funny, we both got a chill. We both got goosebumps as we were sitting there listening to the message. I truly believe this was the father's way of telling her today, "I am here," I mean, how special is that? Hello, Alisa. Thank you very much for, , letting me know about this. It is super, super special, I, I feel special that, that we were able to, send her that message that both her fathers are going to be there for, um, her sons' graduations. You guys, I've thought about this story so many times over the last couple of months. And I know some of you are probably listening thinking, "Oh, absolutely, that was definitely her dad letting her know he was there on graduation day." And others of you may be listening thinking, "Alisa, I think this is a bit of a stretch." And honestly, that's okay because for me, that's not actually what this story is about. This story is such a beautiful illustration of the sign of Cancer, the part of us that remembers, the part of us that feels, the part of us that carries our family's stories long after the moments themselves have passed, the invisible threads that connect us to the people who came before us. Family, whether they're still here or whether they've crossed to the other side, never really leave us. They live in our memories, in our traditions, in the stories we tell, and maybe most of all, in the emotions that stay with us. One of the things that struck me the most was something Mary said. She knew her father hadn't chosen to leave her. She knew that. She understood that. Her mind understood it. But the little 10-year-old girl inside of her still felt like he had left. And I think if we're honest, most of us have places like that, places where our heart takes longer to heal than our mind. That's cancer. Cancer reminds us that emotions don't always follow logic. Sometimes they simply ask to be acknowledged, to be witnessed, to be honored. And that's really why I wanted to share this story during cancer season, because I think we've all experienced moments that touched us, even if we couldn't fully explain them. And of course, you all know I always have my astrology hat on. So after all of this happened, I went back and I looked at the chart for May 19th, the day Mary and I finally crossed paths again, the day her son graduated, the day she'd been thinking about both of her fathers. Mercury, the messenger, was moving into a trine with Pluto that day. And I couldn't help but smile. In mythology, Mercury is the only one who can travel freely between our world and the underworld. He's the messenger, the one who moves between realms. And Pluto symbolically rules everything beneath the surface, the unseen, the hidden, the world beyond ordinary awareness. When Mercury and Pluto work together in harmony, one of the ways we think about that combination is messages crossing thresholds messages finding their way from places we can't always see into the world we can. Was that what happened here? I honestly don't know, but I do know this. I had been hoping for weeks that I'd run into Mary, and the one morning our schedules aligned was the morning of her son's graduation, the very day she'd been thinking about both of her fathers. And somehow, through a podcast, through a friendship, through a conversation at the gym, through a series of voice messages, Mary received exactly the words that brought her comfort on the day she needed them the most. And maybe that's the real message. 📍 Sometimes life weaves together people, timing, memory, meaning in ways that don't ask to be explained, only appreciated So before I go, if today's story resonated with you and you'd like to continue the conversation live, don't forget I'll be joining my friend Emily from Emily Lunar Astrology this Sunday, July 19th, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time for a YouTube live. We're gonna continue exploring the themes of Cancer season, home, family, ancestry, intuition, and all of those beautiful invisible threads that connect us across generations. I would love to have you join us. I'll leave the link in the show notes. As always, I love and appreciate you all. Thank you so much for listening. Take care, and I'll see you next time
