This week, I'm sharing another spontaneous conversation I recorded while attending NORWAC 2026.

Helena Woods has become well known for her work in Astrocartography. We found a quiet spot, hit record, and talked about Electional Astrology, Mars, the power of place, and why location can play such an important role in our lives. I hope you enjoy getting to know Helena as much as I did ✨

📍 Astrology isn't just about signs and symbols, it's a tool for navigating real life. Hello and welcome to Astrology with Alisa. I'm your host Alisa Dixon, and I'm so glad you're here. Let's dive in. Today, I'm sharing another conversation from NORWAC. This one is with Helena Woods. Helena has really made a name for herself in the world of astrocartography And one of the things I love about her is how willing she is to share what she knows. And now I get to share a little of that with you. So here's my conversation with Helena All right. Hello. I am here with Ms. Helena Woods and I'm so excited at NORWAC to just catch up on one of my favorite astrologers I like to follow on Instagram. So this is, like, such an honor and a pleasure to talk with you. Hello. Hello. So, um, I am really big about astrology and how it shows up in real life. Mm-hmm. So tell me, for you, how do you personally use astrology in your everyday life? I use ast- electional astrology every day. Ooh. So whether it's to schedule out my emails, my writing time, my client time, if I'm, am I gonna get on an interview, do a Zoom meeting, if I'm gonna post now or in 20 minutes from now, I use electional astrology, the chart of the moment, to help me make the best decisions for the most optimal, successful results. Oh my God, I love that. So what do you look for? Do you look to try to have a harmonious Sun-Moon? Or you look at the- Yeah ... planet? What do you- I always focus on the Moon primarily. Primary, okay. Um, but trying to get something on an angle, like on the ascendant, descendant, Midheaven if it's social media or posting. Is that why you picked 3:00 for today? No, I'm just kidding. No. No, it just ended up working this way. I love it. I love it. Okay, that's cool. I thought for sure you were gonna say astrocartography, you know, which clearly- For every day, 'cause I'm not always traveling. Yeah. You know? S- I'm sometimes at home- Yeah just chilling. Yeah. I use remote activation, but sometimes it's not something I do every day. Okay. I'm not familiar with remote activation. Yeah. Remac- remote acti- I have a whole class on it called Remote Activation. Oh, I will have to get it. Yeah. I want to get it. It's free. It's a free class. Oh, cool. It's all about using the power of place no matter where you are- I love it so you can get more success and have more ease and flow in your life without actually traveling. Oh, my God. I love it. Yeah. Oh, wow. All right. I will definitely get that. Um, okay. So question number two. Which planet has caused you the most chaos in your life? I would say probably Mars. Mars- Really? Yeah. Okay. Mars is my malefic. Every time Mars, something happens, whether it's a Mars square, Mars on an angle, Mars on my Sun, there's some problem or fire that I have to put out. Got it. Um, whether it's like I get a burn on my face and it takes a week to heal, whether it's I have a conflict with someone that I'm working with or a client, there's an issue with a client that happens that day at that time. Wow. Mars always creates problems for me in my life. Wow. And I, I have a day chart, too, so Mars is my malefic- Okay ... that got triggered a bunch. That makes sense. Mm-hmm. Okay. Interesting. All right. Mars. Yeah. Okay. Um, all right. And then what is your favorite astrology topic to talk about lately? Absolutely hands down astrocartography and locational astrology. The power of place is real, and we have really powerful places in the world that can help support us in our life or places that we maybe shouldn't be traveling to. Ooh. I can't tell you the amount of times I've heard from clients or my friends that have had horrible experiences in parts of the world, and it's like, oh, yep, that was on that line or at that latitude of where you went. But there's stories and events that happen in our lives, and they're at specific locations, and your astrocartography map, your relocation chart. And not only that, but the timing of these places, the transits and the progressions that hit these locations in the world can really bring new stories in your life. Yeah. And I'm on a mission to bring this information to the public and make it more mainstream. Wow. That's cool. All right. So I have to ask your opinion. Yeah. I have Pluto on my Midheaven at birth. Okay. Uh-huh. And I notice- Uh-huh ... and I grew up in Connecticut, and now I live in Ohio. And I notice that whenever I travel back to Connecticut, I definitely feel a little more intense. Yeah. Like, so is that, I mean, is that- Yeah ... basically dead on? Pluto is transformation. It's disruption in, in that Plutonian intense way of transformation. It's upheaval, can be power, though. It also represents influence, can be wealth. I've seen mo- most of my successful, most successful clients have something, have Pluto prominent in some part of their chart. Pluto MC is big for government officials. Have you ever worked for the government? No. Politics? Town government when I was in high school. Yeah. And I hated it. Build policies or build something that affects a large amount of people. I've had clients that literally write policy for government, write policy for- Wow universities across the northeast. Like, can be very powerful for your career. Interesting. Yeah. Okay. Cool. Yeah. Well, awesome. Well, thanks so much. This was so, so, so fun. Yeah. And I appreciate you taking some time and- Yeah, totally ... chatting with me. Yeah. Super fun. Awesome. Thanks. Thanks for having me on. All right. See ya. Yay. Bye-bye. Helena was so sweet and so smart. One of the things that really stood out to me was hearing Helena talk about using electional astrology every single day, not just for major life events, but for all kinds of things. Deciding when to write, when to send emails, when to meet with clients, and even when to post on social media. And you guys, she is really good with her social media. Tons of followers and tons of engagement. I had honestly never thought about using electional astrology to plan social media posts before. I mean, I've definitely asked ChatGPT when is the best time to post this or that, but now I'm thinking maybe I should be asking the moon instead. I love that idea. And honestly, that's one of the reasons I wanted to record these conversations. Every astrologer has a different lens, a different specialty, a different way of practicing. And every single conversation, I've walked away having learned something new And speaking of specialty, let's get into the core of what Helena does which is astrocartography. If you're not familiar with what that is, first of all, go follow Helena. She is a wealth of information on the topic, but in a nutshell, astrocartography is a way of projecting your birth chart onto the Earth, showing where each planet's energy is emphasized depending on where you are in the world. It's the power of place, as she said. Now, I personally have only scratched the surface when it comes to astrocartography. I know enough to read my own map, and I've played around with it, but it's definitely an area I want to study more deeply because I absolutely believe the place you're standing matters A couple of summers ago, I happened to be vacationing almost exactly on my Neptune line. While I was there, I absolutely felt like my intuition was really heightened. One day, I was at a diner with an old country store attached to it, and one of the vintage televisions suddenly turned on and started playing I Love Lucy. Immediately, I knew it was my grandmother from the other side because Lucy is one of her signs she sends me to let me know she's with me. We used to watch I Love Lucy together all the time when I was young. So in the diner that day on my Neptune line, I just stood there smiling, watching the show for a few minutes, feeling her with me, and it felt like magic. Months later, a psychic medium validated this for me. She independently brought up that exact diner and shared another message for me from my grandmother. So all of that was Neptune energy. Neptune blurs the line between the physical and the spiritual. And being on my Neptune line helped me experience that energy stronger than usual. And there's more to that story, which I shared in another podcast episode, so I'll put the link to that one in the show notes if you'd like to hear more about that experience. But I know astro cartography works. And when Helena mentioned her free class on remote activation, that immediately caught my attention. The idea that we might intentionally work with the energy of place without having to get on an airplane, that's fascinating to me, and I'll definitely be checking that out. Now, just weeks after I met Helena at NORWAC, we had all kinds of buzz and controversy in the astrology community surrounding the use of the term astro cartography. You may have heard about it, but if you didn't, one of Helena's former students sent her a cease and desist, trying to prevent her from using the term astro cartography, which is honestly pretty outrageous and incredibly disappointing. Astrology has always grown because people teach and share and inspire one another. That's exactly what Helena did in this conversation with me. She shared ideas that have helped her, and now they've sparked new ideas for me. That's how this community should work. And it really does. When this all happened, it was amazing to see the astrology community come together in a pretty big way. 📍 People supporting one another, speaking up, circulating petitions we could sign to protest and block the cease and desist. And I signed them because I believe knowledge should be shared, not guarded. And throughout this whole thing, I was so proud to be a part of the astrology community. So definitely check out the show notes. I'll put Helena's website and her Instagram in the show notes. If you're interested in astrocartography, I think you'll really enjoy following her work. As always, I love and appreciate you all. Thanks again for listening. Take care, and I'll see you next time.
