This is Tim Dutellis. Welcome to JesusGuys, a discipleship lifestyle brought to you by menofbravery.com. And this is actually week number nine of a 10-part series, and you can invite anyone to jump on this journey at any time. You can read the daily scriptures and listen to the song of the week at Jesusguise.com. This week's emphasis is on the question: what did the resurrection accomplish? In the faith of Christianity, the death and resurrection of Jesus is paramount to the gospel of the good news because the resurrection brings us life. It's a redemptive story that our sins are conquered with the victory of Jesus' sacrifice and his resurrection in return to his heavenly Father. It's a very powerful message of how you and I can die to the sin and have victory in Jesus for the reason of a relationship with God through Jesus. Jesus is that mediator. He is the bridge between our sin and God because sin separated us from God. And the resurrection brings us to a relationship that is now continuing to grow and develop in a relationship with God through Jesus. And I want to read for us today one of the scriptures from this week's reading. And I hope it encourages you to really understand the value that Jesus did not just go to the cross out of obedience to his heavenly father, but Jesus went to the cross for the relationship with you. And so Jesus has risen. This is Luke chapter 24. I won't read all the verses one through twelve. But on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground. But the men said to them, Why are you looking for the living among the dead? In our own lives, the resurrection, what it accomplishes is our old is gone, the death of our sin, the pain of our sorrow, the lostness is gone. The resurrection, what does it accomplish? It brings us life. We know through Jesus we can live. We come to life. We are born again. That is so powerful that even though we're sinners, we're accepted because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection proves that we are loved, received, and now we can live. And so as we live as Jesus guys, as we follow near to Jesus, as we see the examples of his disciples, the most brave men, the Jesus guys that followed him, learned from him, grew because of him, we can then reflect on our own lives and ask, now how do we live? What do we do? And why do we believe? One of my favorite moments after the resurrection, Jesus appeared back to the disciples, and it was actually when he gave them the Great Commission. And the Great Commission, it wasn't given to the disciples before the cross, it was given to the disciples after the grave. And after the grave, Jesus left with them probably one of the what I call the TED talk of Jesus. The powerful message of summarizing, okay, now what? Because of this, then what? Because of all this, the life, the sacrifice, the resurrection, now what do we do? And Jesus gave them the great commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel, make disciples and baptize and teach them my teachings. That's what Jesus is asking of us as Jesus guys. So as we continue on this lifelong journey of the discipleship lifestyle, of following Jesus, learning from his teachings, and observing his disciples and the Jesus guys, we are going to grow and Lord willing, we're going to serve others and live a life of impact. So thanks for listening to Jesus Guys Week number nine. Uh, you can read the scriptures daily and listen to the song for this week at JesusGuys.com. And thank you for being on this journey together as Jesus Guys.
