A single sentence at a graduation ceremony can rearrange the way you see your whole life: “Learn to be uncomfortable.” That line hit our guest, Prakash Nathan, so hard that it sent him back through decades of decisions where discomfort wasn’t just present, it was the engine of growth.

We talk through the moments that shaped him, starting with a childhood leap into an English-medium school where he felt lost, scared, and behind, then slowly built fluency, friendships, and confidence. From there, the pattern repeats in bigger ways: an early-career detour to Rajasthan for intensive training, adapting to a new climate and culture, and later an even tougher stretch as a CEO learning to work with government and bureaucracy when everything in him wanted to avoid it. Along the way, we pull out practical mindset tools for handling change without spiraling into overthinking.

We also dig into career growth in a way that’s useful whether you’re just starting out or reinventing yourself: vertical growth versus horizontal growth, why being “thrown into the deep well” can build real leadership, and how delayed gratification (hello, marshmallow test) connects to resilience in an instant-everything world. If you’ve been feeling stuck, overly comfortable, or unsure which risk is worth taking, this conversation offers clarity and a push to experiment.
