The Yankees FINALLY Do Right By Anthony Volpe

Hindsight is always 20/20, so it's not exactly earth-shattering news or a sizzling hot take to say that in retrospect, the Yankees rushed Anthony Volpe to the major leagues in 2023.
After an eye-opening spring training that year, New York promoted Volpe to be their Opening Day shortstop bringing the local-kid-makes-good story REALLY come to life.
Volpe struggled a bit in his sophomore season (as the VAST majority of major league players do) but came alive in the postseason against the Dodgers hitting a grand slam in Game 4 to help lift the Yankees to an 11-4 win.
2025 was a completely different story as Volpe struggled both at the plate and in the field; he would ultimately undergo offseason surgery.
When his rehab stint ended on Sunday May 3, the Yankees optioned Volpe to AAA to help him continue his development. Meanwhile, George Lombard Jr (SS/3B) is also at AAA so the Yankees are going to have to move someone to a different position.
And some sad news to report with the passing of longtime Yankees radio broadcaster John Sterling who, over the course of his career, called 5060 consecutive games, including every game Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera played in pinstripes.
