Right now the Mets and Red Sox appear to be going in two different directions.

And relax, Yankees fans.  You won't remember this past weekend by the end of July.

Following a 4-game weekend sweep of the Yankees and a Monday night win over the Nationals, the Red Sox appear to have found some momentum.

The Mets?  They are firmly entrenched in last place in the NL East and on the day they fired their manager, the Mr. Met mascot was seen cavorting on camera behind SNY's Steve Gelbs as he was discussing what had happened to Carlos Mendoza.

Needless to say, that wasn't a good look.

In actuality, they're actually both going in the exact same direction - nowhere.

Both teams are in last place and while the Red Sox may be showing some signs of life, the reality is that they are not going to make the playoffs.

So both appear to be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline which begs the question - who is going to be the one making trade decisions for each team?

David Stearns of the Mets and Boston's Craig Breslow each put together horrible rosters and then fired their respective managers.

If you're a fan of either team, do you REALLY want one of them making any kind of roster decisions going forward?

As for the Yankees, losing four straight to the last-place Red Sox stings, but a month from now it will just be a blip on the screen.
