Don’t Forget What God Has Already Done – Devotional on Matthew 16:8–10
The disciples had seen Jesus multiply bread for thousands — twice — yet the moment they realized they had no bread, they panicked. Jesus’ response was simple but piercing: “Don’t you remember?”
We’re not so different. We’ve seen God come through in the past — providing, healing, guiding — yet when the next trial comes, it feels like we’re starting from zero.
In this devotional, we’ll talk about how remembering God’s past faithfulness anchors us in present struggles. From David recalling his past victories before facing Goliath, to Israel building memorial stones at the Jordan, Scripture shows us the power of remembrance.
Reflection Question:
What is one specific moment when God showed up for you in a way you couldn’t have done for yourself?
Challenge:
Write down three moments when God provided, guided, or rescued you. Keep the list handy. When fear rises, speak it out loud: “He was faithful then. He will be faithful now.”
Prayer:
Father, thank You for every miracle, provision, and rescue You’ve already worked in my life. Help me to remember — and let that remembrance strengthen my faith today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
