Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 24:27–28 — His return won’t be quiet, hidden, or up for debate. It will be like lightning across the sky—impossible to miss. No secrets. No confusion. Just undeniable power and truth.
He also gives a warning: just like vultures gather where there is death, judgment will be obvious and inevitable. While false messiahs thrive in hype and deception, the real King comes with clarity and authority.
This is a call to live steady—not chasing every new voice or spiritual trend, but building real faith, discipline, and obedience now.
You don’t chase lightning. You prepare for it.
Reflection:
Are you chasing hype—or standing firm in truth?
Challenge:
Take 20 minutes today to disconnect from noise and get grounded in Scripture.
Prayer:
Lord, keep me anchored in truth. Guard me from distraction and deception. Help me stay steady, disciplined, and ready for Your return. Amen.
So Jesus is telling us two things here. A, his glory will be unmistakable, and judgment will be inevitable. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional. Before we jump in, Restoring Warriors is a men's ministry, and we're dedicated to equipping men to becoming disciples of Jesus Christ. All right, we want to create men who lead boldly and go out into the world and share the gospel. And every week we gather together in Denver, Colorado, but we're currently launching groups across the nation and we're also building an online community where men can find brotherhood. So, hey, to join a group, to start one in your home, to connect online, go visit restoringwarriors.com and click find a group, and we would love to partner up with you. All right, so today we're jumping back into the book of Matthew. We're in Matthew 24, verses 27 and 28, where it says this for as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever there's a carcass, there the vultures will gather. All right, so Jesus makes it very simple. His return, it's not gonna be hidden. It's not gonna be private, it's not gonna be reserved for people who are insiders, have like a VIP card or anything. No, light lightning doesn't whisper across the sky, it splits it open. And when the Son of Man comes, the whole world is gonna know that the Son of Man has come. There's gonna be no secret meetings, no special coordinates, not chasing of any rumors. All right, it will be known, it will be seen. All right, and then he says something sharp that where there is a carcass, vultures gather. But in the ancient world, vultures meant one thing death. All right, you don't need an announcement. The evidence was obvious. So Jesus is telling us two things here. A, his glory will be unmistakable, and judgment will be inevitable. False messiahs operate in secrecy and confusion, but the real king, he arrives in power and clarity. All right, and as men, we don't run toward every headline or personality that's claiming revelation. We did we also don't panic when culture shakes. We we stand firm, we build strength, faith, and obedience now, so that way when the sky flashes, we're found steady and not scrambling. You don't chase lightning, but you do prepare for it. All right, so pull out a journal, let's do a reflection question here. Spend some time, take five or ten minutes, and really see what God convicts inside of you. Here's your question: where am I tempted to chase spiritual hype instead of standing firm in steady obedience? All right, and your challenge for today is to completely reject distraction, right? Limit any outside noise that's coming in and spend 20 focused minutes in scripture, grounding yourself in truth rather than speculation. Okay, and a prayer for today, Lord, anchor me in your truth. I guard my mind from deception and hype. Help me live steady, help me live disciplined, and help me live prepared. And when you're move, let me be found faithful and not distracted. Strengthen me, Lord, to stand firm in the day that you return. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today.
