Ready, Not Distracted | Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional | Matthew 24:38-39

In Matthew 24:38–39, Jesus points back to the days of Noah—and the warning is powerful.
Before the flood came, people were living normal life. Eating. Drinking. Celebrating. Getting married. Planning tomorrow like it was guaranteed.
The problem wasn’t just wickedness.
It was distraction.
While everyone else was consumed with everyday life, Noah was building the ark. He was preparing for what was coming while the world ignored the warning.
Jesus says it will be the same before His return.
Life will feel ordinary. People will stay busy, entertained, stressed, distracted, and spiritually asleep. And that’s exactly why this matters.
The enemy doesn’t always destroy faith through direct attack. Sometimes he just keeps people distracted enough that they never think seriously about eternity.
This is a call to wake up.
Kingdom men are called to live differently—focused, watchful, grounded, and spiritually ready.
Big Question:
What distractions are slowly pulling your focus away from Christ?
Challenge:
Take inventory of what consumes your attention today—your phone, work, media, stress, or entertainment. Remove one distraction and replace that time with prayer, Scripture, or quiet time with God.
Prayer:
Lord, expose the distractions that are dulling my focus. Give me discipline, clarity, and a watchful spirit. Help me live ready, not distracted, and keep my eyes fixed on You. Amen.
It's constantly pulled in a hundred directions, it becomes easy for our focus on Christ to drift just slightly off center. Hey, welcome to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional. All right, today we're going back to the book of Matthew. We're in chapter 24. We're in verses 38 and 39, where it says this. Jesus says, For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. And they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. This is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. All right, so what Jesus does here is he points back to the days of Noah, where people they weren't living in constant panic or expecting any sort of judgment. Life looked normal. I mean, they were eating, they were drinking, they were celebrating wet weddings, and they were going about their daily routines. And none of those things by themselves are sinful, but they did become distractions that kept people from recognizing all of the warning signs happening around them. And while the world was busy living for the moment, Noah was building an ark. For years, his life stood as a warning that something bigger was coming, but people ignored it. They just assumed that tomorrow is gonna look just like today did. Jesus says the same pattern exists before his return. Life's gonna feel ordinary, and people will be working, planning, celebrating, scrolling, they're gonna be chasing the next thing. All right, the danger isn't just sin, it's also distraction. When our attention is constantly pulled in a hundred directions, it becomes easy for our focus on Christ to drift just slightly off center. Distraction is one of the enemy's most effective tools that he uses. He doesn't always try to destroy your faith directly. Sometimes he simply keeps people busy enough that they never stop to consider eternity. All right, so Jesus' warning here is clear stay awake, stay ready. Don't allow the noise of the world to dole your focus. All right, the men who who follow Christ are called to live differently. All right, we're watchful, grounded, and spiritually alert. Just like Noah, we prepare ourselves and lead our families toward the only place of salvation. All right, so pull out a journal, take the next couple minutes, and and journal what comes up here. Invite the Holy Spirit into this process with you and see what uh you're convicted with here. What distractions in your life might be slowly pulling your focus away from Christ? All right, and as a challenge for today is take inventory on what consumes your attention. Is it your phone? Is it is it media? Is it your work? Is it stress? Is it entertainment? Remove one distraction for the day and replace that time with prayer, scripture, or just a quiet reflection with God. All right, and finally let's pray. Lord, help me recognize the distractions that pull my focus away from you. Give me clarity, discipline, and a watchful heart. Teach me to live ready, not distracted, and to lead my family towards you with purpose. Help me keep my eyes fixed on Christ when the day comes I am prepared. So in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
