The Great Separation | Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional | Matthew 24:40-41
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In Matthew 24:40–41, Jesus gives one of the most sobering pictures in all of Scripture.
Two people are side by side, doing ordinary everyday work—and in an instant, one is taken and the other is left.
Same place. Same moment. Same routine.
But two completely different eternities.
Jesus is showing us something serious: proximity to faith is not the same as belonging to Christ.
Growing up in church, being around believers, or living a “good” life does not save anyone. Salvation is personal. It comes through a real relationship with Jesus.
And that should wake us up.
Because the people Jesus is talking about are often not strangers—they’re the people right next to us every day: friends, family, coworkers, neighbors.
If we truly believe Jesus is coming back, then silence is not love.
This is not the time to coast spiritually.
This is the time to move with urgency.
Don’t walk. Sprint.
Sprint to share what Jesus has done in your life. Sprint to tell the people you love the truth while there is still time.
Because one day, the opportunity to respond will be over.
Big Question:
Who are 2–3 people in your life who may not truly know Jesus?
Challenge:
Start one spiritual conversation this week. Don’t wait for the perfect moment—create it. Share what Jesus has done in your life and why your faith matters.
Prayer:
Lord, give me courage to speak boldly and love people enough to tell them the truth. Show me who needs to hear about You, and use my life to point them to Jesus while there is still time. Amen.
Being near believers, growing up in church, living a moral life doesn't replace a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Hey everybody, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where we challenge men every day to live boldly for Christ. You can start one of your own or join the online brotherhood. Um, hey, let's dive back into it. We're back in the book of Matthew today. We're in chapter 24, we're in verses 40 and 41 where Jesus says this two men will be in the field, one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a handmill, one will be taken and the other left. All right, so Jesus he starts to paint a picture here of what it's going to look like the moment he returns. And it's not a dramatic scene or chaos or obvious warning signs. It's just ordinary life, right? Men, they're out working in the field, women, they're in there grinding grain. All right, the routine of the day just continues by, just like any other. But in an instant, boom, just like that, everything changes. All right. First, you got two people standing side by side, side by side, doing the same task, they're in the same place, they're in the same moment. Yeah, one is taken and the other is left. All right. Proximity doesn't equal salvation. All right, being close to somebody who's saved doesn't mean that you're saved. Being near believers, growing up in church, living a moral life doesn't replace a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All right, and then comes the sudden sudden division here in a moment that no one can predict, eternity is revealed. All right, one belongs to Christ, the other doesn't. All right, this is why Jesus repeatedly calls us to readiness. Not fear, but but awareness, right? And not speculation over when it's going to happen, but just obedience. All right. And that's why this passage should stir something deep inside of us, because the people Jesus is describing are not strangers across the world. Oftentimes are the people that are standing right beside us in life, all right. They're friends, they're family members, they're coworkers, they're our neighbors. All right, and if we truly believe Jesus is coming back, then silence isn't love. We can't stay silent. All right, the gospel's not something that we just casually mention when the moment feels right. No, this is life or death, and eternity is hanging in the balance. All right, so don't walk, don't crawl, sprint, right? Sprint to tell somebody about Jesus, sprint to share how he's restored your life, forgiven your sins, and changed your heart. Sprint especially toward the people that you love the most because one day the moment's gonna come and the opportunity to respond is over. And until that day, the mission is clear. Right? Now take out your journals. We're gonna take the next five or ten minutes or so and go through this question. I invite you to invite the Holy Spirit into this process with you and really see what stirs up inside of you. Use this as prayerful time with the Lord. All right, who are two or three people in your life who may not truly know Jesus? And what might it look like for you to share the gospel with them? Does it look like inviting them to church, inviting them to a restoring warriors men's group? What does it look like to share the gospel with them? All right, and then a daily challenge is to start a spiritual conversation with someone this week. All right, share how Jesus has worked in your life and what your faith means to you. Don't wait for the perfect moment, just create it. I let's pray, Lord, awaken my heart to the urgency of your mission and give me the courage to speak about you boldly and love people enough to tell them the truth. Lord, show me who needs to hear the gospel and give me the words to share how you have changed my life. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you for tuning in today.
