In Matthew 25:26–27, the servant isn’t corrected for lack of ability—he’s corrected for lack of action.
He knew what was expected… and still did nothing.
That’s the warning.
There comes a point where ignorance isn’t the issue—obedience is.
The more truth you hear, the more responsibility you carry.
And this is where many men get stuck.
We listen.
We learn.
We agree.
But we don’t move.
Knowledge without action leads to stagnation.
God didn’t give you truth to store—
He gave it to you to live out.
You don’t need more information.
You need obedience.
Big Question:
Where do you already know what God is calling you to do—but haven’t acted on it?
Challenge:
Take one truth you’ve learned recently and act on it today. No delay. No overthinking.
Prayer:
Lord, help me not just hear Your Word—but live it. Give me courage to act on what You’ve already shown me. Amen.
It's because they've gotten comfortable consuming truth instead of living the truth. Hey, welcome back. This is the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional. Hey, here at Restoring Warriors, we have one mission. It's very simple. We want to equip men too to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to boldly spread the gospel. And we do that a couple different ways. Number one, we meet every single week in Denver, Colorado. We gather for discipleship. Number two, we're currently spreading and adding expansion groups all over the country and we're looking for new group leaders. And number three, we are building out a powerful online community of disciples as well. So hey, if you want to join a group, if you feel led uh to start a group yourself or want to join us online, go to restoring warriors.com, click on join a group, and we will direct you from there. All right, we are back in the book of Matthew. Right now, today we're in chapter 25, verses 26 and 27 in our devotional. And Jesus says this his master replied, You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed. Well then you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers so that when I returned, I would have received it back with interest. All right, so there becomes a there comes a point in every man's walk where ignorance is no longer the issue. The issue becomes obedience. Are we being obedient? All right, and the servant here in this parable, he wasn't punished because he lacked ability. Remember, it said earlier in the parable that God gave them each an amount of money that matched up with their ability. So he was held accountable because he knew what was expected of him and he chose not to act. Okay, he knew he had a responsibility to steward. All right, and that should be a reality that shakes us at our core because growth in faith, it brings clarity and clarity, it brings responsibility, right? And the more truth that you hear, right, through through sermons, through through absorbing scripture, then the more leadership you're entrusted with, the more opportunities God places in your hands, the more he expects movement from him. Right? And this is where many men tend to stall. They stall out. And it's not because they don't believe, they have plenty of faith. It's because they've gotten comfortable consuming truth instead of living the truth. All right. We we sit in Bible studies, okay, we listen to sermons and podcasts and we nod along, we agree, like, yeah, that sounds really great. But we never step forward to lead or to disciple, to serve, or to speak. Okay, and when you have the knowledge, without action, it creates a spiritual stagnation. It hardens the heart, it starts to dole conviction, all right? God didn't give you all this wisdom for you to store up your yourself. It was meant to be used, it was meant to go out and be spread. The calling on your life, it's not waiting for more information, it's waiting for obedience. It's waiting for you to step in and be obedient. You have been equipped, you have been sharpened. Now it's time to move. All right, now take out a journal. Let's take the next five or ten minutes here and let's journal on this reflection question. I want to see what comes up. So invite the Holy Spirit into this process with you and ask him to convict you a little bit and see where you might need a little sharpening. All right, where in your life do you already know what God's calling you to do, but you haven't taken any action yet? All right, what's that area? And then your challenge for today is to identify one truth that you've learned about leadership, about faith or discipline, and act on it today. All right, no more sitting on the sidelines. Actually, put a plan in place, take one step of action and obedience today. Now let's pray. Father, thank you for the truth that you've placed in my life and the people who have helped shape my faith. Lord, forgive me for the times I've known what to do, but have chosen to stay comfortable instead of stepping out in obedience. Father, give me courage to act on what you've shown me. Help me to lead with faithfulness, with humility, and discipline. Lord, I don't want to just hear your word. I want to live in it. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
