Don't Wait Until It's Too Late | Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional | Matthew 25:41
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In Matthew 25:41, Jesus gives a warning that shouldn’t be ignored:
Don’t wait until it’s too late.
This isn’t about obvious rebellion—
it’s about delay.
The people in this passage weren’t villains.
They were passive.
They saw opportunities… and did nothing.
They felt conviction… and postponed it.
And eventually—time ran out.
Here’s the truth:
God didn’t create separation for people—He created relationship.
But when a man keeps choosing comfort over obedience,
he slowly drifts in the wrong direction.
Not all at once—
but over time.
That’s the danger.
Most men don’t plan to walk away from purpose—
they just keep saying, “later.”
Later I’ll lead.
Later I’ll fix it.
Later I’ll deal with it.
But faith isn’t proven by intention—
it’s proven by action.
And one day, every man will stand before God—
not to explain what he meant to do,
but to answer for what he actually did.
Big Question:
Where in your life are you delaying obedience?
Challenge:
Take one step today. Not tomorrow. Today.
Act on what you already know God is asking of you.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for delaying what You’ve called me to do. Give me urgency, courage, and discipline to act now. Help me live a life that’s faithful and ready. Amen.
They assumed that there would always be more time, and I think we fall into that same trap. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotion, where every day we challenge men to boldly spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Hey, we're gonna dive back into the book of Matthew, but before we do, Restoring Warriors, we're a men's ministry and we meet every week here in Denver, Colorado, but we're currently expanding. And we want to uh extend the invite to you if you feel called to lead a group to open an expansion group in your living room. All right, we're currently building our expansion groups and we're currently expanding our online community as well. It's a powerful community. So head over to restoringwarriors.com, click on join a group, and we'll direct you from there. All right, we're back in the book of Matthew today. All right, we're still in chapter 25, and today we're in verse 41, where Jesus says this. Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Whoo, man, that's a powerful verse, right? This is one of those verses that should really uh shake us, right? It should make sure like it should shake us awake, right? And not because God is cruel, not because he's mean, but because the window of opportunity is very real, right? And it doesn't stay open forever. And in Matthew 25, right, where Jesus is talking about all these people, the ones being judged, they're not all criminals, right? They're not all rebels. A lot of them were just passive, they weren't really doing much of anything. They saw needs, they did nothing, they had chances to act, and and they delayed or they put it off. They assumed that there would always be more time. And I think we fall into that same trap, right? And then the moment came, time ran out. All right, notice something really powerful in this verse. Hell was prepared for the devils and his angels, not for people, right? God didn't design separation as his desire for humanity. That wasn't what he intended, he designed relationship. Okay, that's what he really wants for us. But but when a man keeps postponing his obedience when we when we ignore our conviction, you know, that gut feeling that tells us we're doing something wrong or we shouldn't be acting this way, when we ignore that conviction and we continue, when we continue to stay in our comfort zones instead of being bold and stepping out into responsibility, he slowly drifts towards separation. Okay, that's what we do as men. We we we we drift towards separation instead of true surrender, right? And and that's the warning here. That's the warning that Jesus is telling us. The danger isn't rebellion, right? It's it's not that we're outwardly just um disobeying God. No, it's it's delay. A lot of men plan to get serious down the road, right? We do that with diets. I'll start my diet Monday. All right, well, it's Wednesday. How about starting it tonight, right? We plan to get serious later, then later we'll lead our family uh spiritually, later we'll repair our relationships, later we'll step into our purpose, later we'll deal with these habits that are holding us back in our life, right? But faith is not proven by good intentions, it's proven by action taken when conviction shows up. Right? There's gonna come a day where every man will stand before God, every single one will stand before God, not to explain what he meant to do. Well, well, in this situation I intended this. No, no, but to account for what we actually did. All right, today is the opportunity. Tomorrow's not promised. All right, let's take a few minutes right here. Pull out a journal, take through five, ten minutes or so, and reflect on this question I'm about to ask you. See what comes up here, see if there's any conviction that hits you here. Where in your life have you been delaying obedience? All right, assuming that you'll have time to deal with it later. All right, and here's your daily challenge identify one area in your life where you know that God's been prompting you to act. Okay, whether it's leading your family, reaching out to somebody, confessing a struggle, stepping into responsibility, whatever it is, take one concrete step of action toward that calling today. Finally, let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for your patience and your mercy in my life. Thank you for giving me time, opportunity, and conviction to grow. Lord, forgive me for the times that I've delayed obedience, when I've ignored your prompts, or when I've chosen to remain comfortable over pursuing responsibility. Lord, give me the courage to act when you call, the humility to listen, and the discipline to follow through. Lord, help me live with urgency, with purpose, and with faithfulness, so that when my time comes, I can stand before you, knowing I gave my life fully to what mattered most. Amen.
