In Matthew 26:2, Jesus makes something clear:

He knew what was coming—
and He walked toward it anyway.

Betrayal.
Suffering.
The cross.

No hesitation. No shortcuts.
Just obedience.

That’s real strength.

Because most men don’t lack direction—
we avoid the hard thing we already know we need to face.

The conversation you’ve been putting off.
The apology you need to make.
The discipline you keep delaying.
The leadership moment you’re avoiding.

We wait for fear to disappear—
but courage doesn’t come from waiting.

It comes from moving.

Jesus showed us:
Strength isn’t comfort—
it’s obedience when it costs you something.

And on the other side of that hard step?
Growth. Freedom. Leadership.

Big Question:
What hard thing are you avoiding right now?

Challenge:
Take the first step today. Not perfect—just forward.

Prayer:
Lord, give me the courage to face what I’ve been avoiding. Help me choose obedience over comfort and faith over fear. Strengthen me to walk forward, no matter the cost. Amen.

Most men, we don't necessarily lack direction, but but we do lack the willingness inside of us to step into the hard thing when we know that it's gonna cost us temporary peace. Hey, welcome back to Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional, where each and every day we dive into the Word of God and we challenge men to boldly live out the gospel of Jesus Christ in their everyday lives. Hey, if you're a man and you're looking for community, if you're looking for kingdom-minded discipleship, head over to restoringwarriors.com. We're launching a powerful online community, and we would love to have you be part of it. All right, we're diving into Matthew 26. We finally made it to Matthew 26, and today we're looking at verse 2, where it says this as you know, the Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified. Man, Jesus knew exactly what was coming for him. He knew there was gonna be betrayal, he knew that he was gonna experience a world of suffering, and he knew that he was ultimately gonna face the cross. And still, he walked straight towards it. He walked directly into it, knowing what it, knowing what it was gonna be. And he he didn't stall, he didn't try to negotiate terms, like trade this out for that. Hey, if we could, if we could swap out the lashes, the flogging for something else. No, he didn't he didn't do any of that. He didn't look for an easier route. He he chose to remain obedient to the mission that he was called to, the mission that he was put down here on earth for. All right. Most men, we don't necessarily lack direction, but but we do lack the willingness inside of us to step into the hard thing when we know that it's gonna cost us temporary peace. All right, that tough conversations. All right, we we put them off. The apology, right? We let our pride get in the way. The the boundary, okay, setting a firm boundary, the discipline, the in your word every day, the consistent prayer, the disciplines, right? The leadership moment that we would rather avoid. We wait for the fear to disappear, but but courage, courage doesn't just show up when we stay inside of our comfort zone. All right, it comes through taking action and actively seeking outside of that area of comfort. And Jesus showed us what strength looks like. It's moving forward even when the road is painful, when it's rocky. All right, because the mission, it matters so much more than the difficult moments. Growth, freedom, and leadership. They're almost always waiting on the other side of the thing that we're avoiding. All right, and the question isn't whether or not it'll be hard. The question is whether we're gonna walk towards it anyways. All right, take take out your journal, take a couple minutes right now, and just reflect on the question that I'm gonna ask you. Alright, invite the Holy Spirit into this process and see if the Spirit prompts you in any way, convicts you in any way. What hard thing have you been avoiding that you already know that God is calling you to face? Alright, and here's a challenge for today is to identify one uncomfortable task that you've been putting off and take the first step towards that task today. Alright, let's let's pray. Lord, ignite the courage in me to walk toward the hard thing instead of running from it. Alright, Lord, and just strengthen my resolve to choose obedience over my personal comfort, over any fears that I have, and help me lead with boldness, Lord, knowing that you go before me and you have paved the way. Lord, it's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today.
