Devotion vs. Betrayal | Matthew 26:6–7

Two people stood in the same room with Jesus—but made completely different decisions.

One woman poured out everything she had in an act of surrender.
Judas held onto what he valued—and traded Jesus for it.

Proximity to Jesus doesn’t equal devotion to Jesus.

In this message, we confront the tension every man faces:
Will you fully surrender your life to Christ, or will you protect parts of it for yourself?

Because betrayal doesn’t start with one big moment—it starts with small compromises, divided loyalty, and guarded areas of your life.

This is a call to real devotion. Not partial. Not convenient. All in.

Scripture:
Matthew 26:6–7

In this video, we cover:
– The difference between being around Jesus and surrendering to Him
– How small compromises lead to spiritual drift
– Why devotion requires full surrender
– Identifying what you’re still holding back from God

Reflection Question:
What area of your life are you still protecting instead of surrendering?

Challenge:
Identify one thing you’ve been holding back—your time, obedience, confession, generosity, or control—and take a concrete step today to release it to God.

Prayer:
Lord, search my heart and reveal anything I’m holding back from You. Give me the courage to surrender fully, not partially. Help me choose devotion over comfort, obedience over control, and faith over fear. Amen.

You can sit in the room, you can hear the message, you can listen to the teaching, you can know the language, and you can still hold something back. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where every day we challenge men to pursue their calling that God has placed on their life. Hey, if you are looking for a kingdom-minded, kingdom-minded brotherhood to join, head over to restoring warriors.com, click on join a group, and we will prompt you from there. Alright, we're back in the book of Matthew. We're in chapter 26, verses 6 and 7 today. While Jesus was in Bethany, in a in the home of Simon the leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. Alright, so so two people, two people were close to Jesus here in the same moment, but their hearts were in opposite directions. Alright, so so one woman, she opened up her jar and she gave everything that she had. She poured it on him. And Judas, he kept his jar intact and sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Alright, one surrendered, one calculated, one trusted, one protected himself. Alright, and here's the hard truth that we all need to hear is that proximity to Jesus doesn't mean devotion to Jesus. You can sit in the room, you can hear the message, you can listen to the teaching, you can know the language, and you can still hold something back. All right, betrayal, it rarely starts with a dramatic decision that's made right there in the moment. It usually starts with a small compromise. It's guarded areas and sometimes it's divided loyalty. And every man will eventually answer this question. Or will I preserve parts of it for myself? Am I going to hold back? Because you can't do it both. Devotion, it requires surrender. And betrayal, it begins when you protect what God asks us to release. Alright, so pull out your journals, take a couple minutes and spend some time with the Holy Spirit and see what comes up to you when I prompt you with this question. Alright, what area in your life are you still protecting instead of surrendering it over? And here's a challenge for you today is to identify one thing that you've been holding back. All right, it could be your time, it could be obedience, it could be a confession you need to make. Maybe it's generosity. Maybe you are such a Taiwad with your wallet or your time or the way that you serve people. Maybe it's control. All right. Take one concrete step today to release that stronghold over to God. All right, and let's send in prayer. Lord, search my heart and reveal anything I'm holding back from you. Lord, give me the courage to surrender fully and not partially. Help me choose devotion to you over my own personal comfort. Lord, obedience over control and faith over fear. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today.
