While You Still Have the Chance | Matthew 26:10–11

Jesus wasn’t dismissing the poor—He was emphasizing urgency. The opportunity to honor Him was right in front of them, and one woman recognized it. While others debated cost and practicality, she acted. No hesitation. No delay. Just devotion.

This is the tension many men live in—we assume there will always be more time. More time to step up, to lead, to fix what’s broken, to go all in with God. But moments pass. Doors close. Seasons shift.

Faith isn’t proven by intention.
It’s proven by action—when the opportunity is in front of you.

In this message, we break down:

Why delayed obedience is dangerous
How comfort and overthinking keep men stuck
What it looks like to act in real-time faith
How to recognize and move on God-given moments

The question isn’t whether you believe.
It’s whether you’ll move while you still have the chance.

Reflection Question:
What opportunity to honor God have you been postponing?

Challenge:
Take one step today in an area you’ve been delaying—spiritually, relationally, or personally. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Move now.

Prayer:
Jesus, give me the awareness to see the moments You place before me and the courage to act without hesitation. Teach me to honor You with my life today, not someday. Amen.

She didn't wait for approval. No, she moved while the opportunity was right there in front of her. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where every day we challenge men to pursue their purpose that the Lord has placed on their hearts. Hey, right now we're currently expanding. We just built an online community. It's very powerful, and we would like to invite you along. If you're a man who's looking for kingdom-minded discipleship and brotherhood, go over to RestoringWarriors.com, click on join a group, and we will prompt you from there. Alright, we're back in the book of Matthew, chapter 26, verses 10 and 11 here. Jesus, or excuse me, aware of this, Jesus said to them, Why are you bothering this woman? She's done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. Alright, so in this moment, Jesus wasn't dismissing the poor. He was emphasizing urgency. Alright, though the window to honor him in that moment, it was closing. And this woman recognized it. He was being prepared for his burial. And while others debated cost and practicality, right, we should we should sell this perfume and give to the poor. No, she acted. She was bold and she acted. She didn't wait for permission, perfect timing. She didn't wait for approval. No, she moved while the opportunity was right there in front of her. And I think oftentimes, men, we can assume that there's always going to be more time. We've got time tomorrow. We'll do it next week. We'll do it next month. Maybe next year when finances are better. All right, we think that we have more time to lead our families or to repair relationships, to step into the calling that we know that God's placed on our life. We have more time to deepen our walk and our relationship with God, maybe once things slow down a bit, right? But life doesn't guarantee endless opportunities. No, moments pass, seasons change, and doors eventually close. Then this woman, I mean, she teaches us something really powerful about acting in the moment. Devotion that is delayed can often become devotion that we simply just deny. Faith isn't about intention. We can have great intentions. It's about action. Faith is about action in the moment that God places right in front of you, right on your heart in that moment. The question isn't whether you believe or not. The question isn't whether you have faith in Jesus or not. The question is whether you're willing to move while the chance is still in your hands. Alright, so here's a reflection question. Take five or ten minutes here and invite the Holy Spirit into this process. Ask the Spirit to prompt you here and see if something comes up here. What opportunity to honor God have you been postponing? Assuming that there's always going to be more time. And listen, I just want to go off the cuff here a little bit. Oftentimes for me, I feel the Spirit telling me, hey, you should go pray for that person. Or I'm having a conversation with somebody and he says, hey, you should pray. But I don't do it. And I don't do it because I feel like I'm going to be judged. I feel like this person might think I'm weird. Alright? But there are times where I have taken that prompting and I have made that prayer, and it absolutely changes the posture of that person. Sometimes it's exactly what they need and they break down into tears. Sometimes they look at me like a crazy person. It's those moments where we put off, oftentimes, where the spirit's saying, hey, act in this moment right now. And I know we've all felt that. Alright, so anyway, here's a daily challenge for today. Identify one action that you've been delaying in your life. Okay, whether it's spiritually, relationally, personally, take that first step today. Don't wait for the moment. Don't wait for the perfect moment. Just move now. Move right away, right now, as the Spirit prompts you. Alright, let's pray. Jesus, give me the awareness to recognize the moments that you place right in front of me and the courage to act without hesitation. Lord, help me not to delay obedience or take time for granted, Lord. Help me to honor you with my actions today, right now, in the moment, as soon as you prompt me. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today. Hey, if you were encouraged by this devotional, I encourage you to send it to a friend. Like, subscribe, leave a comment.
