What’s Your Price? | Matthew 26:14–16 | When Conviction Becomes a Transaction
In Gospel of Matthew 26:14–16, Judas Iscariot asks a dangerous question: “What are you willing to give me?” In that moment, loyalty becomes negotiable—and Jesus Christ is reduced to a price.
Betrayal didn’t start with action. It started with a compromise.
That same tension shows up today—not with silver coins, but with comfort, approval, money, success, or secrecy. The enemy rarely asks you to abandon your faith all at once. He simply asks what it would take to bend it.
Integrity is revealed when obedience costs something.
When truth threatens your job.
When faithfulness challenges your comfort.
When leadership requires courage instead of convenience.
Judas gained thirty pieces of silver—but lost his purpose. He got paid, but forfeited his calling.
A man who knows his value in Christ stops negotiating with compromise.
Because when Jesus is priceless—everything else loses its leverage.
The enemy rarely asks you to abandon your faith all at once. Welcome back. This is the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where every day we challenge men to live more boldly for Christ. Can't wait to see you over there. Hey, we're back in the book of Matthew. We're still in chapter 26. We're in verses 14 through 16 today. It says this. Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and asked, What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you? So they counted out for him 30 pieces of silver. From then on, Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over. Man, so Judas, he didn't start by outright betraying Jesus. He started with a question. Hey, what are you willing to give me? What are you willing to give me? And in that moment, loyalty became negotiable. All right, conviction started becoming transactional, and Jesus, he was reduced to a price, 30 shekels of silver. And here's the hard truth is that every man, you're gonna face this moment at some point in your life in some different form. Maybe it's not uh silver shekels on a table or coins on a table or anything like that, but it might be, you know, a comfortable situation. It might be uh working for for approval, it might be money, it might be success, it might be secrecy of something that you've done. All right, the rent, the enemy rarely asks you to abandon your faith all at once. It's he he he simply asks, hey, what's it gonna take for you to bend it just a little bit? And your integrity, it starts getting tested when obedience costs you something, all right? When standing for truth threatens your job, when when honoring your marriage requires you to sacrifice something, maybe you have to give up something you really like. Hey, sorry, no more Tuesday night softball leagues, fellas. All right. Um, when leading your family demands courage, instead of just you know kicking back and watching TV, when you actually have to step up and lead them and lead them in prayer and lead them in Bible readings, right? Judas gained 30 pieces of silver, but he lost his purpose. All right, he got paid, but he forfeited his calling, and that's the danger of selling conviction for temporary gain. All right, a man who knows his value in Christ, he's he stops negotiating with compromise because when Jesus is priceless in your life, everything else falls into place. All right, take a moment, pull out a journal, spend five or ten minutes here. I'm gonna ask a question. I want you to kind of see what comes up here for you. Invite the Holy Spirit into this process. Where in your life are you being uh where in your life are you being tempted to trade conviction for your own personal gain? All right, and and here's a daily challenge is to identify one area where obedience is gonna cost you something right now, and choose faithfulness before convenience today. And here's our prayer for today. Father, search my heart and reveal any place where I've been tempted to compromise. Give me the strength to stand firm when obedience is difficult and help me value you over my personal comfort, Lord, over my money, over my approval, over my success. Lord, make my life a reflection of unwavering loyalty to you. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you for tuning in today.
