Prepare the Room | Matthew 26:18–19 | Discipline Before Destiny
In Gospel of Matthew 26:18–19, Jesus Christ gives a simple instruction before the cross, before the resurrection, before everything changes: prepare the room.
There was no rushing. No skipping steps. Just intentional preparation.
And that’s where many men struggle.
We pray for bigger opportunities, stronger leadership, restored relationships, and greater impact—but we avoid the preparation required to sustain them. We want the moment without the discipline.
But preparation isn’t wasted time.
It’s proof of faith.
A man who prepares—his habits, his integrity, his home, his walk with God—is building a life where God can move. Quiet discipline today becomes authority tomorrow.
God doesn’t just look for availability. He looks for readiness.
In this message, we cover:
– Why preparation matters more than timing
– The danger of wanting results without discipline
– How small daily habits shape future influence
– Building a life that can actually carry what God gives
Don’t rush the moment.
Prepare for it.

We ask for him to come in and restore our relationships, and we want greater influence at the same time. Welcome back. This is the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where every day we challenge men to go out boldly and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Hey, right now at Restoring Warriors, we're currently expanding our online community. It is a powerful community of Christ-like brothers doing life together, pursuing discipleship together. Go to restoring warriors.com, click on join a group, and you can find information on how to join our online community. Can't wait to see you there. Hey, we're diving back in. We're in chapter uh 26 of the book of Matthew, and this is verses 18 and 19 today. It says this. He replied, Go into the city to a certain man and tell him the teacher says, My appointed time is near, and I'm going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house. So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. All right, so before the cross, before the resurrection, before the greatest moment in our history, there was preparation. They went out and they prepared the room and they prepared the supper. Right? Jesus didn't rush into this mission. He he told his disciples to go and prepare. And sometimes the most spiritual thing a man can do is prepare. We ask God all the time for bigger opportunities. Lord, give me a bigger stage. Give me an opportunity to help somebody. We ask for stronger leadership roles. We ask for him to come in and restore our relationships. And we want greater influence at the same time, but we skip the preparation. We want him to just hand us these things without doing the work that it takes to cultivate these things. All right. We want the moment without all of the discipline that makes us ready for it. All right. And preparation, it's not wasted time. It's never wasted time. Sometimes we want some sort of assurance that things are going to work out before we spend a bunch of time preparing. But, fellas, that's not faith. Faith is doing the work without any guarantee of what the outcome is going to be. All right. It's proof of faith. A man who prepares his life and his habits and his integrity, his home, his walk with God, that's a man that's building a room where God can come in and really move. All right. Quiet discipline today becomes spiritual authority tomorrow. All right, so pull out your journal, take three, four, five, ten minutes here and reflect on this question I'm about to ask. Invite the Holy Spirit in and see what comes up for you here. See if you if you're maybe convicted with this today. What area of my life needs preparation right now? Before God entrusts me with more. And here is your uh daily challenge. Choose one area that you've been neglecting in your life. One area. Maybe it's your time with God, maybe it's your health, maybe you're slacking in your workout plan, or you've been eating too many takeout meals. Maybe it's your finances, maybe it's a relationship that you've been neglecting. Take one concrete step today to prepare it for God to come in and move. And let's pray. Lord, give me the discipline to fully prepare and to prepare faithfully, even when nobody's watching me, Lord. Shape my habits, shape my heart, shape my character so that I'm ready for what you're calling me into, Lord. Help me build a life that makes room for you to come in and work, Father. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today. If you were encouraged by this devotional, I encourage you to send it to a friend. Blast these out. Let's spread the word like wildfire. Make sure you like, make sure you leave a comment, make sure you subscribe. We're gonna drop another one of these tomorrow, and it's an absolute honor to be in ministry with you each and every day. I can't wait to see you on the next one.
