In this episode, we explore one of the most powerful moments in the Gospel account—when Jesus looks at Judas in the middle of betrayal and says, “Do what you came for.”

Jesus knew exactly what was ahead. The betrayal. The suffering. The cross. Yet He didn't run, resist, or retreat. He stepped forward in complete surrender to the Father's will.

This teaching challenges men to examine the areas of life where fear, comfort, or control have been delaying obedience. We unpack why growth often comes through difficult seasons, why God’s process is rarely comfortable, and how true strength is found in surrender—not avoidance.

You’ll hear:
• Why Jesus faced suffering with confidence and purpose
• The difference between surrender and defeat
• How discomfort often becomes God's tool for transformation
• Why obedience usually requires walking through, not around, difficulty
• How men can stop avoiding what God is calling them to confront

Many men want the calling without the process, the breakthrough without the struggle, and the growth without the pressure. But Scripture shows us that God often shapes His strongest warriors in the very places they would never choose for themselves.

This episode is a call to stop running from the hard conversations, the repentance, the healing, and the sacrifices that God is using to form your character.

Plus, we close with a practical challenge and prayer to help you move toward obedience with courage and faith.

If you've been avoiding something God has clearly put in front of you, this episode will challenge you to stop retreating and start stepping forward.

Listen, share, and remember: freedom is often found on the other side of obedience.

All right, but Jesus, he shows something different in this moment is that obedience, being obedient to the Lord and what he's asking you to do, what your calling is, it's not always comfortable. Welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where every day we challenge men to step into the calling that God has placed on their lives. Hey, we're diving back into the book of Matthew, but before we do, I want you to go to restoring warriors.com, click on join a group, and join our powerful online community through school. There's a link there with directions on how to join. I would love to have you there. So we're back in the book of Matthew, chapter 26, verse number 50 here says, Jesus replied, Do what you came for, friend. Then the man stepped forward, seized Jesus, and arrested him. All right, so Jesus he knew exactly what was coming. Um, there was a betrayal, then the beating, then the humiliation, then ultimately the cross, and still he stepped forward. He stepped forward. And that's what makes this moment so powerful. Is most of us, we try to spend our entire lives trying to avoid as much discomfort as possible. We avoid hard conversations that we know we need to have. We delay obedience in what God's telling us to do. We numb pain. We run from the very things that God may be calling us to walk through. But Jesus, he shows something different in this moment is that obedience, being obedient to the Lord and what he's asking you to do, what your calling is, it's not always comfortable. But it is purposeful. It's always purposeful. Do what you came for, he says. Those weren't words of defeat. That wasn't Jesus surrendering to the man there. They were words of surrender to authority to his father. Jesus wasn't losing control, he was trusting God through his suffering. All right, as men, oftentimes we want God's calling without God's process. We want all of the growth without the pressure that it takes to grow us. All right, but many of the things that God uses to shape us happen in seasons that we would never voluntarily choose for ourselves. The hard conversation, repenting, all right, the healing process, discipline, sacrifice, the surrender. Sometimes following Jesus, it means directly walking into the uncomfortable thing instead of away from it. Because freedom is often found on the other side of obedience. All right, take out your journals, spend a couple minutes here, pray on this, invite the Holy Spirit in and see what comes up for you here when I ask you this reflection question. What difficult area of obedience have I been avoiding out of fear, out of comfort, or out of control? And your warrior challenge for today is take one step today toward the thing that God has been prompting you to confront instead of avoid. Finally, let's pray. Jesus, give me the courage today to obey you when everything is uncomfortable. Teach me to trust you in difficult seasons and to stop running from the things that you're using to shape me, Lord. Help me walk in surrender and discipline and faith instead of in fear. It's in your name we pray, Jesus. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today.
