Have you ever felt like you’re doing the right thing, only to be met with criticism, rejection, or misunderstanding?
In this video, we dive into Matthew 26:67-68. When Jesus was mocked and beaten, it wasn't because He had done wrong—it was because He was perfectly obedient to the Father.
The world is comfortable with a watered-down faith, but when a man begins to pursue holiness, protect his marriage, and speak the truth, he often finds himself in the crosshairs of opposition. Don’t mistake resistance for failure. Often, the criticism you receive is confirmation that you are walking a different path than the world.
In this video:
- Why obedience to God often invites opposition.
- Understanding that a warrior’s job isn't to seek approval—it's to remain faithful.
- How to find your identity in Christ rather than the opinions of others.
Daily Challenge:
Identify one area of your life where you have been shrinking back due to the fear of others' opinions. Today, choose obedience over approval.

Alright, most of us carry this assumption that if we're following God faithfully, that life should get easier. Welcome back to Restoring Warriors. This is our daily devotional. Every day we drop a devotional challenging men to step into their calling. Hey, right now, before we dive into this, I want you to go to restoring warriors.com. All right, click on join a group. And from there, we're going to direct you to our powerful online school community. All right, this is a group of men. We get together, we do life together, we pursue brotherhood. So no matter where you're located in the world, you can be right there with us as we minister and give glory to the Lord, baby. Let's give it up for school. All right. All right, Matthew 26, verses 67 and 68. Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him and said, Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you? Ah, man, this one gets my blood boiling a little bit. Jesus, he was being mocked, he was being beaten, he was being humiliated. All right, but but not because he had done anything wrong. He didn't do anything wrong. In fact, the opposite was true. He was he was completely innocent. The only reason he was suffering is because he was obedient to the Father. He was obedient to his father in heaven. All right, most of us carry this assumption that if we're following God faithfully, the life should get easier. We shouldn't have to deal with a bunch of extracurricular stuff because we're following the Lord. People should support us. All right, friends, they should automatically understand us. All right, the path should become a lot smoother. But scripture shows us something very different. Oftentimes, obedience invites opposition. Man, and the world is comfortable with a watered-down faith that asks nothing of us. All right, we love to be saved, but we don't love to actually pursue what it means, right? When a begin, but but when a man begins to pursue holiness, when he begins to protect his marriage, when he believes begins to lead his family spiritually, confess sins, set boundaries, or boldly speak the truth, right? He may find himself being criticized, misunderstood, and he might even find himself being ridiculed. Jesus experienced all of this firsthand. The religious leaders mocked the very Messiah they claimed to be waiting for. For all these years, they're waiting for the Messiah, and here he is. And this is how they treat him. Their rejection didn't mean Jesus was wrong. It proved that they couldn't recognize what God was doing. They couldn't see with their own eyes what God was doing all around them. And that same thing happens to us today. Don't mistake resistance for failure. Sometimes the criticism you're receiving isn't a sign that you're off course. Sometimes it's confirmation that you're walking a different path than the world. And side note, that's normally a good thing. All right, a warrior's job isn't to seek approval from man, it's to remain faithful to the Lord. All right, if Jesus was mocked for doing the Father's will, we shouldn't be surprised when our obedience costs us something too. All right, now pull out your journal. We're gonna do a reflection question here. Take five or ten minutes, invite the Holy Spirit into this process and see what comes up for you. All right, where have you been tempted to compromise your convictions because of criticism, rejection, or the desire to fit in? All right, and here's your daily challenge. Identify one area where you've been shrinking back because you fear about others' opinions about you. Today, choose obedience over approval and just see what happens. Be mindful of what happens. All right, let's pray. Heavenly Father, Father, help me stand firm when obedience becomes difficult. Lord, give me the courage to follow you even when I'm misunderstood, when I'm criticized, and even when I'm rejected. Lord, remind you that my identity is found in Christ, not in the opinion of others. Lord, strengthen me to walk faithfully, no matter what the cost. In Jesus' name, amen.
