As the messiah, it was it was more than physical suffering at that point. Now it was humiliation. Welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional, where every day we challenge men to boldly step into the calling that God has placed on their lives. All right, we're going to dive back into the book of Matthew today. But before we do, head over to restoring warriors.com. We want to direct you to our powerful new online community. It's on the school website. But you can access it by going to our website, clicking on join a group, and then we'll direct you to the school site from there. Can't wait to see you over there. All right, Matthew 26, verses 67, 68. Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him and said, Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you? Man, so Jesus, he had already been arrested, he was falsely accused, he was condemned, but his accusers didn't stop there. They spit on him, they struck him, they mocked him, they ridiculed his identity as the Messiah. It was more than physical suffering at that point. Now it was humiliation. They added insult to injury. All right, they kicked him while he was down. And many men, we know this feeling all too well, right? Sometimes the deepest wounds aren't the actual pain. It's not the original pain. It's the criticism, the betrayal, it's the mockery that follows the wound. All right, you've already been knocked down, and then somebody piles on. Sometimes people we love. The enemy works in the exact same way. He tempts us to sin, and then he condemns us for our failures and our shortcomings. And what makes this moment here really remarkable is Jesus' response. He doesn't retaliate, he didn't defend himself, he remained focused on the mission that the Father placed in front of him. Jesus endured humiliation so that we can receive honor through him. It rejects biblical truth, it rejects repentance, it rejects obedience to God. But the same Messiah who is mocked in weakness will return in power and in glory. Those who ridiculed him then and those who reject him now will one day know exactly who he is. Every knee will bow and face the Lord. As warriors, we're called to follow Christ's examples. Alright, so don't let the insults of others distract you from the mission that God's placed you on. Stay focused, trust God, and keep moving forward. All right, pull out your journals. We're gonna take five or ten minutes. I want you to answer this question. This is a reflection question designed to bring some stuff up in you. All right? Where have the opinions or criticisms of others distracted you from the mission that God's called you to be on? And here's your daily challenge today is when criticism, rejection, or unfair treatment comes today, because it'll come, resist the urge to retaliate. And instead, ask God to help you remain focused on your purpose and respond with Christ-like strength. Okay, let's pray. Father, thank you. Thank you that Jesus understands rejection, humiliation, and mockery. Lord, help me stay focused on your mission for my life and not be controlled by the opinions of others. Lord, and give me strength to respond with grace, with confidence, and in obedience. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. And thank you for tuning in today.
