"Are you the king of the Jews?" — Matthew 27:11
Pilate asked a question that every man must eventually answer: Who is Jesus? In today’s reflection, we dive into the significance of Matthew 27:11. For many, it's easy to view Jesus as a Savior who offers grace and forgiveness, but it’s harder to accept Him as the King who demands total allegiance.
Jesus didn’t stand before Pilate because He lacked power; He stood there willingly. The King of Heaven submitted to suffering so that we could be redeemed. Today, we’re challenging ourselves to move beyond salvation without surrender.
In this video:
Why Jesus is both Savior and Lord.
The difference between admiring the King and following Him.
A reflection question to help you identify areas of your life where you're still sitting on the throne.
Daily Challenge:
Identify one area you’ve been withholding from God—whether it's your finances, relationships, habits, schedule, or future—and intentionally surrender it to Him in prayer today.

Demands a lot more than admiration. He demands allegiance. Welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional, where every day we challenge men to further their relationship with the Lord. Hey, before we dive in today, I want to tell you about the Warrior Path. The Warrior Path is a six-week program that we've cultivated here at Restoring Warriors. And the whole six weeks is a week-by-week breakdown through the book of Ephesians, where we also work with men to help hone in some daily habits that become foundational disciplines to further your relationship, your one-on-one relationship with the Lord. We're going to start a new Warrior Path on July 27th, and I want to invite and I want to invite you to join us on that. Go to restoring warriors.com, click on the warrior path. You can find out more information and get registered on the website. All right, let's dive back in. All right, we're in Matthew 27, and we're in verse 11 right now. It says, Meanwhile, Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, Are you the king of the Jews? You have said so, Jesus replied. Alright, so Pilate, he asked a question that every man eventually has to answer. Who is Jesus? Who is he really? And for many people, Jesus serves as a savior, but not necessarily king. We tend to love the idea of forgiveness, of grace, of mercy, eternal life. We gladly accept what Jesus has done for us, the sacrifice he made on the cross. But but a king demands a lot more than admiration. He demands allegiance. Jesus wasn't standing before Pilate because he lacked power, because at any moment he could have called down an army of angels. He stood there willingly. They want salvation without having to fully surrender. They want comfort and control, but they don't want obedience. But scripture never presents Jesus as merely a savior. He is savior and he is Lord. So the question for us isn't whether Jesus is king, he already is. So the question for us today isn't whether Jesus is king or not, because he is. The question is whether there are areas of our lives where we're still sitting on the throne. A warrior doesn't just believe that he's king, a warrior follows him. All right, so I'm going to challenge you today with a daily challenge. And here it is is identify one area where you've been withholding from God. Whether it's your your finances, whether it's your relationships, your habits, your daily disciplines, your schedule or your future, and intentionally surrender it to the Lord in prayer today. And if you want to take it a step further, join us on the warrior path starting July 27th, where we dive into all of those different areas very intentionally on a daily basis. All right, let's pray. Lord Jesus, thank you so much for saving me. Lord, help me not only receive your grace, but also submit to your authority, Lord. Show me where I'm resisting your leadership and give me the courage to follow you fully, Lord. It's in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you so much for tuning in today. If you were encouraged by this devotional, then I encourage you to send it off to a friend, a coworker, a family member. Help be the man who spreads the light of Jesus.
