Alright, and this changes how we view the cross. It changes how we look at the cross. It wasn't an accident. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional, where every day we challenge men to boldly pursue the calling that God has placed on their lives. Today we're in chapter 27, and this is verse 50. And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. Alright, so the world, it often pictures Jesus as powerless on the cross, completely defeated. All right, but Matthew, he tells a different story here. He said, Jesus didn't have his life taken from him. No, he willingly gave it. Alright, and even in his final moments, he remained sovereign. Every nail, every insult, every ounce of suffering, it was endured by choice because of his love for us. All right, and this changes how we view the cross, how it changes how we look at the cross. It wasn't an accident, it wasn't defeat, it was the greatest act of obedience and sacrifice in the history of the world. Jesus chose your redemption over his comfort. He chose faithfulness over escape. And he chose the cross so that you could choose life. And as men, as men, we're often tempted to avoid discomfort, to avoid responsibility, to avoid sacrifice. But Jesus reminds us that true strength, it isn't found in preserving ourselves. It's found in willingly laying down our lives for God and for others. It's found in picking up our cross every single day. So I want to challenge you. All right, here's a daily challenge. Today I want you to intentionally choose one act of sacrificial obedience. Okay? Take an opportunity to serve someone, to forgive someone or to obey God in an area that you may have been resisting. Right? And let your life reflect the one who willingly laid down his. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to us willingly to give his life in my place. And Lord, help me help me never take that sacrifice for granted. Father, teach me to follow his example by living with courage, with obedience, and with selfless love, selfless love, Lord, and give me the strength to lay down my own desires so I can fully pursue your will.
