The Tomb They Couldn't Keep Closed | Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional | Matthew 27:65-66

In today’s devotional, we reflect on Matthew 27:65-66 and the failed attempts of religious leaders to stop Jesus' resurrection. From every human perspective, it was over—but the very obstacles they placed in God's path became evidence of His power.

When we face our own “sealed tombs”—situations that seem impossible to overcome—we can be reminded that God is never limited by what man considers impossible. If He can overcome a tomb guarded by Roman soldiers, He can overcome whatever stands in front of you today.

Teach me to trust Your promises even when everything around me says the story is over. Thank You that You are the God who brings life where everyone else sees only death. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

They sealed the stone, they posted Roman guards in place, and they secured the tomb. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional where every day we challenge men to boldly pursue the calling that God has placed on their lives. We do that a number of different ways. This is the last two verses in Matthew 27. So next week we'll dive into Matthew 28. But here we go. Take a guard, Pilate answered. Go make a tomb as secure as you know how. So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard. All right, so the religious leaders did everything they could to stop what Jesus said would happen. They sealed the stone, they posted Roman guards in place, and they secured the tomb with the full authority of Rome. From every human perspective, it was over. So the seal tombed, it proved that nobody could come in. They could secretly remove Jesus' body. The guards became witnesses that something beyond human explanation had taken place. Every obstacle that they placed in God's path became another testimony that only he could accomplish what happened next. We often face our own sealed tombs in our life. And these are situations that seem impossible to overcome. A relationship that feels way beyond repair. A battle with a sin that never seems to end, a dream that appears dead, right? But God has never been limited by what man considers impossible. If he can overcome a sealed tomb guarded by soldiers, he can overcome whatever is standing in your way today. Alright, so I want to hit you with the challenge. The challenge today is this identify one situation that you have labeled as hopeless. Surrender it to God today and ask him to help you trust his power more than your circumstances. Alright, let's pray. Father, forgive me for allowing impossible circumstances to limit my faith. Lord, and help me remember that no obstacle is too great for you. Father, teach me to trust your promises, even when everything around me says the story's over.
