The First Commission After the Resurrection | Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional | Matthew 28:7
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In today's devotional, we explore the very first command given after Jesus' resurrection. It wasn’t a complex task or a grand mission statement—it was a simple, urgent call: “Go quickly and tell.”
We often wait until we feel fully qualified or have all the answers before we share our faith. But as we see in Matthew 28:7, the women at the tomb weren't sent because they knew everything; they were sent because they had encountered the risen Christ.
Join us as we reflect on the reality that we don’t just share a religion—we share a living Savior who is already at work in the lives of those around us.
In this video:
The Command: Understanding the urgency of "Go quickly and tell."
Trusting the Process: How Jesus goes ahead of us to prepare the way.
Daily Challenge: A practical step to help you share the hope of the resurrection today.
Reflection Question:
Who in your life needs to hear the hope of the resurrection? Is fear, insecurity, or comfort keeping you from sharing what Jesus has done in your own life?
Daily Challenge:
Pray for one person by name today. Ask God to open a door for you to encourage them, share your testimony, or simply remind them that Jesus is alive and offers hope.

The resurrection, it was too important to remain private. Hey, welcome back to the Restoring Warriors Daily Devotional, where every day we challenge men to boldly pursue the calling that God has placed on their lives. Hey, we're right now in the book of Matthew. We're in chapter 28. All right, we've been going verse by verse for about the last 18 months, and we are coming to the end of the book of Matthew. So I want you to comment right now. Go and comment what book of the Bible we should do next. All right, let's dive back in today. Matthew 28. This is verse number seven. It says, Then go quickly and tell his disciples he has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. Now, I have told you. All right, so the first command after the resurrection wasn't to go build a church. It wasn't to write a book or change the world. It was simply go quickly and tell. Go tell some other people. All right, the angel didn't invite the women to keep this incredible news to themselves. The resurrection, it was too important to remain private. Jesus was alive, and that truth demanded to be shared. Notice something else here is Jesus was already going ahead of them. He was already going ahead of them. Before the disciples ever arrived in Galilee, Jesus would be there waiting. That's still how God works today. He goes before us. He often calls us to step out in obedience before we fully understand the destination that he's sending us to. Because he's already gone ahead to prepare the way for us. Many of us wait until we feel qualified, confident, or that we have all the answers before telling others about Jesus. Like we we need to know all the answers. We need to know the scripture. But the women, they weren't sent because they knew everything. No, they were sent because they had encountered the risen Christ. All right. The Great Commission begins with the reality of the resurrection. We don't share a philosophy or a religion. We share a living savior. All right. Our job isn't to convince people that Jesus is real, that Jesus is alive, that Jesus rose from the dead. It's simply to faithfully tell them the good news and trust that Jesus has already gone ahead of us in this. All right. So I want to hit you with a challenge today. All right. This challenge is to pray for one person today by name. And ask God to open up a door for you to encourage them in their faith. Share your testimony or simply remind them that, hey, Jesus is alive and he offers hope. All right, let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you. Thank you so much that Jesus is alive. Lord, give me the same urgency and courage you gave the women at the empty tomb. And help me trust that you're already at work in the hearts of those around me before I ever speak. Lord, use my life to point others to the risen Christ. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Hey, thank you for tuning in today. If you were encouraged by this devotional, I encourage you to send it off to a friend, share it with a friend, like, subscribe, leave a comment with whatever book of the Bible we should do next. And as always, it's a great pleasure doing these devotionals with you every day. I can't wait to see you on the next one.
