Beauty Beyond Medicine: Dr. Jennifer Bostick's Med Spa Journey
Beauty and medical expertise merge in this enlightening conversation with Dr. Jennifer Bostick, founder of Ageless Beauty Med Spa in Advance, North Carolina. Dr. Bostick reveals how her lifelong passion for aesthetics combined with her medical training created the foundation for a unique med spa where all treatments are performed by licensed physicians.
From her early days doing hair and makeup for friends' special events to completing medical school and an internal medicine residency, Dr. Bostick's path was guided by both science and art. After years of grueling hospital shifts that limited family time with her two young boys, she and her physician husband made the bold move to North Carolina seeking balance and new opportunities. The result? A physician-led med spa that delivers medical-grade treatments with the personal touch that comes from truly understanding both the science and artistry of aesthetics.
Listeners will discover the impressive range of services available, from deep Halo Laser Resurfacing treatments to the surprisingly satisfying HydraFacial that reveals just how much gunk lurks beneath the skin's surface. Dr. Bostick breaks down the optimal frequency for various treatments—from monthly facials to annual laser sessions—and shares why Elastin stands out as their preferred skincare line after testing numerous products. What truly sets this med spa apart, beyond the medical expertise, is the commitment to personalized care through complimentary consultations and flexible scheduling that accommodates busy lives.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Karen Wood.
Speaker 2:Well, welcome to episode number three of the Good Neighbors Podcast. I'm so excited. Today we have Jennifer Bostick with Ageless Beauty Med Spa. Welcome, Jennifer, Hi.
Speaker 3:Karen, thanks for having me.
Speaker 2:It's great to talk to you today. I'm super excited about your business and what you're bringing to our community, and what I love to do here at the Good Neighbor podcast is help businesses connect with our community and then anything else that's going on that's important, that people want to know about. So I'm excited to talk to you and let the community get to know you just a little bit better so tell me, excuse me, tell me um so you, who you are, your background and um how you ended up here.
Speaker 3:In advance, north carolina, yeah sure so my name is dr jennifer bostic, like you said, owner of ageless feeding med spa. I'm actually not a native to north carolina, nor is my husband. We both grew up in the tampa bay florida area, went to medical school at lecom in bradenton, florida, which is where we met. For our second two years of medical school we had the opportunity to move to Erie, pennsylvania, to complete our clinical rotation years. From Erie we moved to Cleveland, ohio, for residency. During that time we had two wonderful, beautiful boys with lots of energy and we quickly realized that we needed to move somewhere.
Speaker 3:A lot warmer, so that they could have more of their outside green time, so to speak. Looked around, ended up choosing to move to the Winston-Salem Advance area to be closer to family.
Speaker 2:Awesome Now. So you've been south and eerie, colder climates and so forth, so we like to call this LA Lower Advance. So you have moved to the East Coast side of LA, don't you love that? So you've got family here. That's awesome. So you didn't have to kind of make the leap on your own. A little bit of support system with your two boys, so that's awesome. Definitely, yes, love it. So tell me a little bit about how you got started and how your business came about.
Speaker 3:Sure. So growing up in grade school, I've always loved the world of aesthetics. I actually frequently did people's hair and makeup for things like homecoming, prom, dance recitals. It's always been a passion of mine. Also, prior to opening our med spa, I personally was getting things like laser treatments, dermal filler, disc port, and I really love the medical aesthetic side of aesthetic world. It's really the art of medicine, so to speak.
Speaker 3:Prior to moving to North Carolina, like I said, we were in Cleveland, needed to get somewhere warmer. At the same time, we finished our internal medicine residency program and then my husband and I both worked as hospitalists after that, as hospitalists, we were working seven days on days, hour, 12 hour shifts. It was quite a grueling schedule and we really only got to see our kids 50 at the time. It just wasn't, wasn't ideal for, you know, family and wanting to spend time with them. So, um, when we decided to make the move, uh, I wanted to do something with a much more flexible schedule.
Speaker 3:I initially took a job working in various nursing facilities, which I liked, but it quickly became longer days, more hours at the facilities. I was frequently having to do my notes at home, which really, you know, was kind of defeating the whole purpose of having a more flexible schedule and more family time. So with that about a year ago I sat down with my husband and we looked at things. We had finally felt like we were settled in our new home. We're financially in a good spot to pursue opening this new business. So here we are about 12 months later, all the planning and the renovations and we opened about a month ago.
Speaker 2:Well, it is super exciting and we're so glad that you're here. I can't wait for the community to get to know you better and hopefully visit and utilize some of your services. So, speaking of that, tell me a little bit about what sets you apart, like with your credentials and training. I know in conversations that you and I have had, it's like you have more credentials than just your typical quote unquote, if you will. Med spa.
Speaker 3:Correct yes, so one of the main things that sets us apart is that all of our treatments are performed by a licensed physician, mainly myself and my husband also does treatments.
Speaker 3:Here, too, we offer a full, complimentary consult for every patient to ensure that they're getting a customized treatment plan based on what their specific skin and skincare needs are. We offer appointments on days and times outside of our usual business hours because if anybody understands busy lives, busy schedules, it's us, and we want to make sure that we are working with our customers to accommodate their needs.
Speaker 2:Got it, got it Okay. What would you say is a long-term vision for your business?
Speaker 3:would you say, is a long-term vision for your business. Well, when we were working on our business plan initially, we wanted to make sure that our focus was on high-quality, patient-centered care. We want to be known in the community as kind, compassionate providers that make their patients feel at ease as soon as they walk in the door. We want to be known as the providers who take the time to actually sit down, truly listen to our patients and their goals and make that comprehensive plan for them. With that being said, we're hoping to grow our patient census large enough to where my husband can transition to full-time at the med spa he's actually still working as a hospitalist and eventually one day build a larger facility.
Speaker 2:Oh, I love it, I love it. And I can tell you I felt totally at ease the first time I met you and walked in to your beautiful, beautiful spa. Yes, it was very welcoming and comfortable. Um, so, as far as like treatments and things that people can get, tell me like what a typical like treatment and timeline would be for someone.
Speaker 3:Well, it all depends on what their needs and their goals are. Some people maybe just want to do some preventative treatments, which should be your disc or periodic laser treatment, some hydro facials to kind of clean out your pores, get rid of that dead skin and then get them on a really good skin product regimen to prevent and reverse some of the the aging process. There we offer all top-notch, medical grade uh aesthetic treatments. We've got a top of the line laser that does all sorts of things. Really it's it's my baby, but uh, it does uh superficial and deep skin resurfacing. It can target uh pigmentation, uh vascular concerns. It does laser hair removal. We can do full body, um body, with any of the above. We also have a hydrafacial machine, which I am in love with. It's amazing what you get off of the skin. There's a little container that collects, you know, the fluid and things. You can see everything that's come off of your face.
Speaker 2:It's unbelievable really. I bet no one has any idea yeah exactly.
Speaker 3:And of course we offer dermal filler Dysport, which is kind of the newer Botox and Perfect Derm Appeal.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, awesome. I bet it's kind of crazy that no one has any idea how much stuff and gunk that their skin collects on a daily basis and then over time how that can accumulate Exactly.
Speaker 3:Exactly. It's unbelievable. And you know by cleaning your skin that thoroughly and exfoliating all of the skincare products that you use can absorb better, deeper. You get the most bang for your buck, so to speak, out of those products.
Speaker 2:Right, and that makes sense. So would you say, like for the average person? They come in and they tell you you, you know kind of what their needs are. How many times a year should they expect to see you? I said I know it's subjective to what they need, but so I would say.
Speaker 3:As far as laser treatments, for example, our moderate depth treatment is called the Halo Laser Resurfacing. That treatment is typically done one to two times per year. Our BBL, our broad-based light treatment, which is the more superficial targets the pigment, the fine lines, the vascular concerns we typically recommend that you get that done every three to four months, about four times a year. Hydro facials really could just do those once a month. You know, get a real good service. Cleaning this port tends to last about three to four months, depending on location and amount used. Dermal fillers really lasts a decent amount of time. Some of them last nine to 12 months or longer. And then the perfect derma peel you can do a couple times a year, just again depending on did you do laser treatments or you know again what your needs are.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, awesome, so this has been very informative. Do you have particular lines of products that you like to promote and carry in your store?
Speaker 3:Yes, Our absolute favorite skincare line and we've tried a bunch is Elastin. We only offer products and services that we truly believe in and that we ourselves have tested and seen results. And of all the skin care products we've tested, elastin is, hands down, our absolute favorite.
Speaker 2:Awesome, awesome. Well, I know you've shared a couple of them with me and I'm excited to get back in there and use some more. This has truly been a pleasure talking with you and learning more about where you come from and your business and having you as a part of our community. Tell folks how they can get in touch with you and what the process is if they want to schedule a consultation with you.
Speaker 3:Sure, so they can book online, visit our website, check out the types of treatments and what they treat, and kind of get an idea of what they may need. The first step, though, is going to be to schedule a your free consultation with us. You can schedule that either online on our website, which is wwwagelessbeautynccom. They can give us a call our phone number is 336-268-8673. Or you can email us at info at agelessbeautynccom. They can also follow us on Instagram. Our Instagram page is at agelessbeautync.
