Ireland's hidden treasures
The Aran Islands
Hello and welcome to Ireland's hidden Treasures, in today's episode I talk about the quite popular but still relatively hidden Aran Islands.
For those who haven't heard of the Aran Islands, it is a group of 3 islands located just off the west coast of Ireland.
The Largest of the three islands is called Inis Mor, the smallest is called Inisheer and there is also Inis Mann.
These islands are steeped in Irish culture, history, language and heritage being one of the few places where Irish is the first language, even taught first to children in school.
Accessing the Islands:
A great resource: https://www.aranislands.ie/plan-visit
I provide here below one or two options for accessing the islands too:
I personally visited the island of Inisheer, travelling with Galway tour company directly from Galway city. (bus to doolin and boat to the island) but you have other options as well. You can take a ferry straight from Galway city to the islands using Aran island ferries and you can also opt to take a ferry straight from Doolin (if you have a car)
Please feel free to comment and ask any question you'd like, I'm always happy to help.
