Spencer Pratt went to bed on election night looking like a winner.

His odds on Kalshi and Polymarket were surging. Cable news loved it. X loved it. And then the ballots kept being counted.

As late mail ballots arrived and Nithya Raman pulled ahead, Trump-aligned influencers — on paid affiliate contracts with the prediction platforms — began posting fraud narratives. Trump declared the race “rigged.” The U.S. attorney’s office opened multiple “election fraud investigations.”

Nothing unusual had happened in Los Angeles. The count worked the way it always does. But in the span of a week, normal ballot processing was turned into a national story about theft.

This is one city, one race. It is also a rehearsal.

EI-ISAC defunded, membership collapsed. A Republican election supervisor in Florida: “Try calling somebody at CISA and see who answers the phone. It’s been radio silence.” The very infrastructure built to protect elections from foreign interference is being dismantled as the threat environment grows.

Why It Matters

Sabotage doesn’t need to cancel an election to work. It only needs to make voting feel dangerous, make counting feel corrupt, make the people running the system feel exposed, and make enough of the public believe that any result going against one man is inherently illegitimate.

These five lanes — DOJ raids, armed intimidation, disinformation about the count, raids on organizers, and dismantled cyber defenses — are not separate problems. They are a coordinated strategy. Each one softens the ground. Together, they create the conditions for something more drastic.
