Trying to Understand the Holocaust

Survivors and perpetrators of the Holocaust are dying, and with them all direct experiences and memories.  As the child of survivors, podcast host Mookie Spitz explores his cross-generational trauma, and the urgent need to remember and understand the Holocaust. He draws from three scholars—Christopher Browning’s theory of circumstance, Daniel Goldhagen’s argument for ideology, and Saul Friedlander’s nuanced take on complexity. He shares their ideas hoping to better frame this complex and emotionally charged subject, and continue the dialogue.
