Fall Bucket List, My New Job (at a Med Spa) and Life-Changing Realizations
The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and change is in the air—both in nature and in my life. After MANY months of waiting, I'm finally able to share some major news that's been bubbling behind the scenes!
This solo episode (my first ever!) takes you through my family's fall bucket list—from cozy cabin mornings with coffee to multiple pumpkin patch visits that my family tolerates because they love me. I confess my Halloween costume woes (despite years of creative genius, I've never once won a costume contest) and share my vision for the perfect autumn. There's something about fall that invites reflection, gratitude, and new beginnings.
The biggest news? I'm joining the team at Balance Med Spa in Broken Arrow! What started with a simple phone call to a building under renovation has blossomed into an incredible new career opportunity. After months of intensive training alongside my full-time nursing job, I'll be helping clients with everything from wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers to hormone replacement therapy and laser treatments. Working with these kingdom-minded, supportive women has already been transformative, reminding me what it feels like to be confident in my own skin again.
During this transition, God revealed something profound about timing and dreams. Sometimes He plants desires in our hearts not for immediate action, but for us to steward them patiently—praying into them and preparing for the right moment. This revelation brought unexpected peace in my chaotic season of working two jobs while managing family life and podcast commitments. Rather than rushing to fulfill every calling at once, I'm learning to be faithful where I am, trusting His perfect timing.
Mark your calendars for September 30th—Balance Med Spa's grand opening! I'd love to see you there, show you around our stunning space, and help you discover services that might transform not just how you look, but how you feel about yourself. Bring friends, make it a night out, and let's celebrate new beginnings together!
It would mean the world to me if you would like, subscribe leave a review and/or share with a friend if you enjoyed this episode! Please find me on Instagram, tag me, comment, or DM me. Let me know what you enjoyed and what you’d like to hear next. I love hearing from you!

is up, it is fall, it is fall outside.
Speaker 1:Welcome to Mama the Wild Crew podcast. I am Alexa Schmoker and guys, today it is going to just be me. That is right. This is a solo episode. I have never done a solo episode before, so thanks for tuning in. We got so much great feedback from the last episode I did with Addison my sister just checking in saying, hi, what is up?
Speaker 1:Because, as you guys know, I have been recording the Wild Crew Kids series with my daughter, crew Pearl, and it has been so fun and so life-giving, but it is also a little bit time consuming and does require some patience. So thank you guys, so much for your patience on this end with Mama of the Wild Crew podcast as we pour into our littles and I hope you guys are absolutely loving Wild Crew Kids because it has been so fun. Crew loves it, wilder loves it. It's been great for us, so I hope it is also great for you as well. I have had some big life changes happening behind the scenes. My friends are probably like yeah, I know it has been a little wild over here. It is some things that I haven't been able to share, so I've just been kind of like going crazy silently. So I'm finally able to clue you in on some of those things, and I'm so excited to share it in this episode. All in all, I have not been putting out the weekly episodes, though, like I normally do, but don't worry, we are going to eventually get back to that and we definitely have some things in the works. So once I finish this series with Crew Pearl, we will be getting back to a little bit of our regular schedule and to the new series that we've been talking about. So if I have talked to you about doing podcast episodes together, please know you are still in my heart and we are going to get there. I have not forgotten about you.
Speaker 1:But okay, guys, today I thought it would be fun first to sit down and catch up with you guys. I want to share our family's fall bucket list, because this weather has just made me go all in for fall. So I'm here for it. I hope you guys are too. If not, we will get through summer, and then it's September. Now it's fall. It's fall, guys. So I've also got some exciting updates, like I said, about my brand new job that I'm starting, so we will talk about that, and I also wanted to talk about a little bit of this season of waiting that my family has been in for the past I would say like eight months. So just like lessons that God has been teaching me through all of it, it is still absolutely in the works, but I've been processing some of it, so I feel like I've had an epiphany. Anyway, let's dive into the fall bucket list.
Speaker 1:On my bucket list number one, I just have this vision of waking up in like the woods. I'm not a woods girl. Let me preference that. In the woods, in a yurt, like my family is still asleep and I go and make a cup of coffee and then I go sit on this porch and have my coffee and it's like kind of cold and I have my slippers and a blanket and it's early and there's like I don't know, wood sounds, woods sounds going on. Just me sitting out there just looking at the fall foliage foliage, yeah and just feeling so grateful. So I want to make that happen. Just a fresh, crisp morning air around me. So that's number one, pure bliss.
Speaker 1:Number two pumpkin patch. I feel like that's a must. I hope that's on your bucket list. I love them so much I am probably going to drag my family to multiple pumpkin patches, as I do every year. They are just great memories. Number three multiple pumpkin patches, as I do every year. They are just great memories.
Speaker 1:Number three pumpkin bread. My grandma, sue, used to make the most delicious pumpkin bread and I have celiac disease, so it has been years since I have had like a quality, good pumpkin bread, you know, just like the one that you bite into and you're like this is fall. I want to figure out how to make my own gluten-free version of that, as I'm not a woods girl. I'm also not a bakey girl. It might be a box, if you guys know any like good boxes. I know for not gluten-free ones. Trader Joe's pumpkin bread and a box was like my go-to and I still make it for my husband, but I want to try and make something that is good. Okay, what was that? Number three Okay, so number four I heard this on someone else's podcast, but going apple picking. When she said that, I was like, yes, I also want to go apple picking.
Speaker 1:Number five Halloween. The Schmoker family loves Halloween. Every year there's like a big Halloween party and I personally feel like I have come up with some very brilliant and creative costume ideas I have never placed, never placed in the contest. I have done solo costumes, I have done couples costumes. I have done family costumes. I have done family costumes never one time. So this is my year. Jordan notified me that him and crew pearl are doing their own costume, so that leaves me with a costume with wilder. So I have already been brainstorming some ideas. But if you have any cute ideas that will place, please send them to me, because obviously no one thinks my costumes are funny.
Speaker 1:Other cute fall ideas that I asked chat chippy t for. This is what chat had for us. Okay, family movie night hot apple cider blankets, bonus points if it's fall or halloween, fall themed movies okay. Also, one time we went to the drive-in and did like a fall movie and that was fun. So I might check into that. Nature walks to collect colorful leaves and try pressing them for little crafts. I'm also not a craft girly but this seems fairly easy and my kids are probably like that. Making a fire pit with s'mores, that's a must. Yeah, we'll do that. Okay. Last one it said was cozy baking sessions with kids, so that would tie into the pumpkin bread. Double whammy Sounds perfect.
Speaker 1:One thing I didn't put on my list that I'm going to go back and add, as I'm talking about it I thought about it a Friday Night Lights football game vibe. I have not been to a football game yet this year. They just started and we're really not big football people. To be honest, I don't know anything about football. We're soccer people, something about like that Friday night lights high school nostalgia feel of a football game in the fall. I'm about that. So I'm going to add that to the list.
Speaker 1:Fall is just like one of my favorite times. It's so magical and it's just so like emotionally feely. I love it. I am a big fall girl. We also have. I love it, I am a big fall girl. We also have when Jordan and I were dating, actually we did like the Disney on Ice at the fair and it was not for us then but I think it might be for us now. So I'll probably add that to just the Disney on Ice at the fair with the kids. Well, probably just group role. I feel like Wilder would be a little too much. And, side note, I did have someone tell me to bring your own flashy things for the kids to hold and like wave around and bubbles or whatever. That way you don't have to buy that. I don't know if you have to sneak those in, I don't know. So check that out too, but save yourself from buying like a $20 flashlight at Disney on Ice.
Speaker 1:And speaking of new seasons and trying new things, guys, this fall is bringing some very exciting changes for me personally as well. I am stepping into a new job, a new job at a med spa, something I have always had on my heart. I had started thinking about like more seriously I guess, about aesthetics around like maybe December, and I even applied somewhere and had an interview, but the schedule just did not work with the family at the time and I was actually kind of bummed. It was just like a good reminder that sometimes you have to say no to a good thing, for space and room for another good thing. So after declining the first job, I just really could not stop thinking about it and had like what seemed to be a very small everyday moment at the time. But I saw a building under renovation and it used to be a pharmacy, called the number on the sign that was leaning up against the building and through a series of conversations I had coffee with who is now the director of operations there and we just clicked and it felt like such peace and God's timing was finally right.
Speaker 1:And since then I have been working my full-time job during the week and I have been on weekends here and there doing trainings for the med spa. So the trainings have been absolutely incredible. You guys like next level education. I have learned so much from some of the most brilliant, inspiring people in the field. It has honestly been like like nothing I could ever imagine so much great education. One of the things I have loved more than anything is just the culture of the med spa in general. These women that I've been working with are so uplifting and kingdom minded and genuinely just supportive in every aspect.
Speaker 1:We recently I guess recently, it was probably a few months ago now went to a laser conference in Dallas, which I was kind of nervous because it was just a bunch of firsts. It was my first time like learning about any of this. It was my first time away from Wilder and initially Jordan was supposed to go and we had like last minute child care issues of course and he was not able to go like last minute. But the women that I went with made it so special and I felt like it was just a little trip with some of my best girlfriends. They were so welcoming and encouraging and open to just teaching me everything, and that experience just further gave me peace about my decision to join the team, and it has been like more than a job or career change. I feel like I'm stepping into a new community that is just going to be so great.
Speaker 1:So what will the med spa be doing? What will it be offering? Get out a pen because I'm about to give you a list of some things that are going to change your life. Wrinkle relaxers so we've got like Botox, dysport, javeau, xeomin. All the fillers, the dermal fillers. We've got biostimulators, hormone replacement therapy. Guys, I am looking forward to this myself because I need some.
Speaker 1:Amy Oden is the nurse practitioner that is over the hormone replacement and majority of these things. Guys, she is amazing. Like I cannot say enough good things about Amy Oden, and if you know her, you already. You don't even need me to start because you know how unbelievable she is. She is just so compassionate and passionate about all things women's health. She is just a beautiful woman herself. All the good things about her I'm so excited to be learning from her and working with her. We're going to be having hydro facials, iv therapy, all the laser treatments the laser acne treatments, laser hair removal, laser hair restoration, laser skin resurfacing, the medical weight loss programs, microneedling, peptide therapy, prf therapy, the vein treatments, vitamin shots top of the line skincare.
Speaker 1:Like guys, it is basically all the things you need to feel confident and empowered in your skin. I cannot be more excited and I'm excited for you and, as you guys know, I have shared just a little bit about my postpartum journey and those moments of not really feeling like myself. I feel like that is why this work has already just meant so much to me and I'm so excited about it because, personally, going to Balance has given me such a renewed sense of confidence. It has reminded me that if like what it feels like in my own skin again, and that kind of change is priceless. So what excites me the most about being part of someone else's journey is not just like the wellness on the surface level, it's the whole person, and when you walk alongside someone as they regain their confidence or as they finally start to feel like themselves again, you're witnessing real life transformation and I just cannot believe I get to be a part of it, so I love encouraging people in those moments, reminding them of who they are and celebrating the victories, both big and small. To me, that's the heart of all of it, the transformation that helps people inside, that spills into every part of their lives. So it's something that I get to use my nursing background and just my love for people and I'm excited. It's big excitement and I want to officially invite you to the open house grand opening on September 30th 2025.
Speaker 1:Open house grand opening on September 30th 2025. Again, that's September 30th. Put it in your calendar. At Balance Med Spa in Broken Arrow. Consider this your formal invitation and I cannot wait to see you. I really hope you can make it With all of that excitement.
Speaker 1:I also want to be honest and dive into some vulnerable talk for a minute. It has not been easy just working my full-time job, training for the med spa, running the podcast, which I absolutely love and is my way of filling my cup. I'm leading a small group and then there are just all of these other ideas and desires that have been on my heart and I have started to feel it that like overwhelming, feeling overwhelmed, feeling a little overwhelmed, and I just keep thinking like how do I do all these things at once? And I know it is like soon coming to an end of this crazy season of like kind of working two jobs, moving, doing the house stuff. Just it's all kind of coming to an end. So I'm starting to like reflect a little, but I was feeling like how do I pursue all of these callings? And knowing that most of the desires that I have are meaningful and kingdom focused and important. But I just don't have like that capacity right now because I guys, I can get my mind and my thoughts rolling on what I want to do for the kingdom and how I think my family could help the kingdom, and once I get going on these ideas and things I want to do and things I want to join like man, I get a list going. So it kind of comes down to like I can't just like quit my job and chase all these things at once, like I have to be practical too. So how do you like balance that obedience? I can't like commit to everything that I feel called to in the season. And then I had like this epiphany realization I don't know what you want to call it Maybe God places some of these desires on our hearts, not for us to act on them like immediately, but just to kind of start praying into them and dreaming with him and just like stewarding them in his timing. So just a little example of like how I can move so fast A couple weeks ago I had I don't know I think I was going to small group and Wilder hasn't been like doing super great in the kid drop off at night, just because he's had some changes, and it's like close to his bedtime and he gets fussy.
Speaker 1:So my mom was going to watch him and crew and I were going to go to small group. Jordan had called me and said that soccer got canceled. So as we were on the phone like I have him on speakerphone and I text my mom like hey, nevermind, I don't need help tonight. Thank you so much. Jordan's going to watch the kids. The soccer got canceled. Jordan's like on the phone and he's like, oh, something else had come up, someone had texted for a meeting and I'm like I already canceled the babysitter and he's like what do you mean? Like we've been on the phone for a minute, like you move so fast and that kind of hit me.
Speaker 1:Like I move so fast, I have like lists that I need to get things checked off and like I just like go so quick and so I need to slow down and there's beauty in that balance. I think there's beauty in being like intentional with our time and that I what this just like blew my mind. I don't have to overcommit and stretch myself so thin that I can't fully invest in what he's calling me to. Right now, I and it's not like other people are asking me to do these things Like these are ideas that I have that I am just like going full force for, and that's great. But maybe I just need to realize, like that doesn't have to be right this minute, so instead I can start like praying over these desires and asking God to guide them, to refine them more, so to prepare me and teach me what I need to know right now to be ready for these things in the future, whatever he might have in store.
Speaker 1:I think that it would just really help me to just steward these with patience and knowing that the timing will come. Like if he puts these desires on my heart, they will come, the timing will come and, honestly, that is so freeing. Like why, why, I don't know, I don't know you guys might be like yeah, I know this Well, I did not know you guys might be like yeah, I know this well, I did not. It seems so obvious and clear, but it's given me just peace amidst just chaos, and clarity of what I can faithfully pursue right now, and also my dogs are barking, so sorry about that. So as I sit here just reflecting on all the different pieces of life right now our fall adventures, adventures stepping into a new career and the journey with our house I am just reminded how much God is teaching me about patience and trust and living in the season he has me in right now.
Speaker 1:So, even in the waiting, even when things feel uncertain or uncomfortable which uncertainty is uncomfortable to me, and that is I'm working he's faithful, he is guiding us, he's opening doors when it is his time to open the doors, and placing desires on our hearts at the perfect time. And I am learning that sometimes it is not about rushing in to make something happen, but just simply being faithful, where I am trusting the process and leaning into the lesson along the way. Sometimes that's reflecting afterwards. So, whether it's sipping my coffee on the porch while my family sleeps, exploring a pumpkin patch, stepping into the med spa that I've always dreamed about, diving deeper into his word, every moment is teaching me something about joy, faithfulness and just embracing God's timing.
Speaker 1:Whether you're in a season of waiting, dreaming big or navigating change, I hope this just reminds you that God sees you, he knows the desires in your heart and his timing is always perfect. So, guys, I'm going to go out there and I'm going to try and be faithful in the little things. I am going to have patience in the in-between, in Jesus name. I'm going to have patience in the in-between. In Jesus name, I'm going to have patience in the in-between. I'm just going to be full of gratitude for the moments that he gives me and my family right now. So, guys, thank you for sitting with me today. Whether you're in the car driving to work, you have a moment with your coffee, you are hanging out with your littles, whatever you are doing, I hope you've been encouraged in this, or just feel seen or heard, and I can't wait to continue to share these seasons with you guys. I love you, guys, I hope you're doing well and I can't wait to see you next time.
