Not to mention a couple of movies segments coming in here and the Oscars. Preview. No, we're really excited because on today's show we have Adrianna Allen and getting the gold atlas breaking down fashion and Mark Saw Down Aka the movie doc and breaking down the movies. All kinds of good stuff on today's episode of, nope.

Wow. Hello there. Happy, happy, day by day, happy day. It's week six, JT of the buzzer. We've, we've lasted six weeks. We've come up with content for six weeks and managed to get a guest on five of those. Absolutely. If we were measuring in terms of, of telling me when to stop. Yup. That's about it. Yeah. Six weeks. You know what they say about six weeks. Jd or they say keep going because you're not where you want to be yet. I've never, I've never heard that it's not a thing. In any event, we're really excited today because we have all of our guests so far have been great and special and special. We love all of our guests equally like children. Not like she'll, and that's weird. I want to get another crack at this. Oh well keep pushing through. Yeah, just keep going. We love all of our guests equally, but today we have our first classy distinguished, gassy lady.
Speaker 1:
2:06
She is a dear old friend of JD and myself. We've known her almost a decade now, which is pretty nuts. Um, she's a Fashionista of Garoowe. Uh, she's incredibly talented, incredibly sharp, very fun to be with. One to build up. She's not, other than Adrianna Allen, Aka Aka the gold atlas. Ana, thanks for being here today. Thanks for having me on the show. You're doing us a big favor and you're really bringing us up a whole page. And, uh, that being said, we just want to, we're going to dive into the show here in a bit, but tell us a little bit about how you got started with gold, Alice and, and fashion blogging and, and what do we need to know about you? All right. Um, well as east sad, we, Matt, I can cardiac and I have always kind of had a love for fashion style ripping out pictures
Speaker 3:
3:00
in teen vogue when I was little. And if, you know, it seems though is, I'm just kidding. It mostly will do a 17 boy bands, you know, all this. Um, by, uh, after I graduate college I did a bunch of different things, but I started working with kids for kids with autism and did therapy and I was loving it, but I knew that the creative side of me was missing. And um, that's kind of when blogs were just starting. Instagram was kind of there, but it was still very like photography, hipster focused. And um, I just was like, man, I really want to start a blog, but that's weird and will people think I'm vain? And this is like really weird. But I love taking pictures of outfits. And back in the day when like Kayden had those cameras with like the red light ticket, what is it called?
Speaker 3:
3:52
Like they had them like highlighted anyways, we used to take pictures of our outfits all the time in high school, so it was like a blogger before blogging even existed. And I just like, it just came very naturally, I guess. Um, so I was like, you know, I, what's the point of waiting? I'm just going to do this as like my creative outlet. So in 2014 I launched the gold atlas and I blown up, I mean we're, we're at a steady, steady upgrade, you know, I'm trying to get there, but I feel like it was all crazy at the beginning with the algorithm changing. And I will say that has been, um, interesting. Lots of ups and downs, but I have totally like connected with the creative community in Austin and I'm just really gotten to know a lot of photographers and store owners and brands and it's just been really fun to work with other people and collaborate.
Speaker 3:
4:43
And so that's definitely one of my favorite things is just collaborating with people who are following their dreams. And it started actually as like a fashion music based blog cause that's when I was doing like going a lot of shows a lot. And obviously things change once you, you know, get married and stuff. So I feel like it's kind of transitioned into a more lifestyle blog. And so I've done a lot more like nutrition and home and um, just kind of added all that to my blog. And now, um, it's a lot more Instagram focused I would say just because that's the way the influencer marketing world has kind of changed and focused on in um, brands will specifically ask me to do just like Instagram stories or Instagram posts. So it's all changing, but it's been really fun and you guys should follow the gold atlas.
Speaker 1:
5:38
I'm not sure if our fans know this just yet in my, our fans and your fan, but the buzzer my parents watched, that's what every Sunday they listen, which is more than than my parents can say it all had to sleep. But as of this week, the Buzzer is now a fashion podcast. He goes, we have ANA works for show. We're throwing the, but nonetheless, I'm excited to dive in. You guys ready? Let's say let's crack this thing. Okay, go ahead and have you on them. See, well this is exciting. So our childhood is coming back full force JD just this week or just the other week, it was announced that the popular Saturday night live, all that he's coming back. A lot of people, a lot of people claim that their nineties. So I was born in [inaudible] 90. I was born in 94 so a lot of people, he was born in in 1847.
Speaker 1:
6:38
Jim Ideas, the 90s are a very, I mean we're biased and we're millennials too, but I think the 90s as far as cartoons are governed or the Creme de la creme, the cream of the, cause I've seen some of the ones now and they're not as good. And so what's happening Sean, which you just said Nickelodeon's rebooting all that, which did y'all watch that as kids as much as the other ones? Yeah, I was a big fan of Kenan and Kel. Amanda by my parents would let me, it wasn't bad, right? Like was at that age 10 11, maybe it was. And I had older siblings too. They were watching it, which is you as did you. Um, but it's exciting because it's coming back and you, most people know Cain, Thompson, Amanda Bynes. You can't Thompson most notably from Saturday night live, longest running cast member there. But he's coming back as executive producer.
Speaker 1:
7:33
And Fun fact, by the way, Ken Thompson's also coming out with a sitcom this year called [inaudible]. Keenan coming to NBC in the pilot will be directed by Chris Rock. I should be holier. Is a fun little side. Totally. I'm on board. Was Amanda Bynes, was she the one who was like my hand? Was that her? There was like the ask Ashley. No, she had her own show. She did. She had to admit the Amanda show. Yeah, that's where she was my first this ask Ashley, I think it was a man who was like on all that. Oh really? And she's like super famous now. I just really later, definitely let us know on that cause that's, that is vital. But I will say this, that it's coming back and Nickelodeon's revamping it, uh, produced by Keenan Thompson and the original shows, the original nineties episodes are going on or on youtube now.
Speaker 1:
8:16
So you would like to relive your childhood, which we're going to do right now. My question for you guys, team is what? 90 shares? What were your favorite Nickelodeon nineties TV shows? Well, I'll let you think for a little bit cause you didn't know this question on that. So me, some my top, my top three. Oh Nice. We just want to say one. That's right. I was a big wild form. Barry's fans as asthma's on it. I love that show. I loved it. I loved Little Tarzan Kid. I loved the show. And they have like a talking head and talking kinky.
Speaker 1:
8:55
Donny or Darwin. He was British. Yeah. Guess passive French wasn't popular. Chimpanzee and they traveled. The father had that huge, not that huge nose. Yeah. Well it's cause he's British. Gosh. So I loved, I loved wild form Barry's Ahh, real monsters. So that was the show where the little guy, he held his eyeballs up above his head. Like did y'all ever watch like I did awful up. So let me just pull it up real quick. So there was look on it. So, so, so creepy little purple guy with, don't watch that. There were these monsters. I don't remember what happened during the show, but I loved the characters. It was kind of like a demented version of monsters. This is like a Tim Burton. This is creepy. It was definitely, I was a big fan of that. And then rocket power of course was my autumn, Gullah Gullah island islands.
Speaker 1:
10:02
It was a weird tadpole looking cake, yellow frog frog as super wholesome show. But I was like probably too old to be watching it but I still watched it cause I had a friend who had little brothers and I remember always watching it at her house. Loved it. Clarissa explains it all became like my more like Ooh, preteen stage. Loved all the likes. That one, the digital cameras where I just know that was back. It was like hit clips. Do you guys remember those? I was just telling your friend about those the other day and I was like wow. It's like Justin Timberlake or no and seeing Britney spears, I'll get five seconds of a song still super cool. Which now we can do on Instagram. So if you believe they've come full circle, there were a lot of good ones. You and I actually had a similar one on our list.
Speaker 1:
10:56
I know you didn't just say it, but you wrote down, Doug and I wrote down Doug as well. This is one of my favorites. I wanted to have a journal just because of him. He's bald. I was going bald. It just made a lot of sense. And then speaking of all that, Kenan and Kel had his show. Hey Arnold, the football head was great. And then one of my all time favorites, legends of the Hidden Temple. The game show hell is a good one to blue barracudas all kinds of good stuff that like set the press. I think it's like a nineties version of American Ninja Warrior. Totally like seriously as literally the first less less, uh, less liability forms had to be signed for legends of the Temple, I'm sure. But we're still great. Speaking of great things coming back to TV on Netflix. They, if you're your fan, I know a, I know a producer Jim loves breaking bad and I'm a big fan of it as well. Uh, there is a movie coming to Netflix equals Aaron Paul
Speaker 4:
11:54
reprising, his role as Jesse Pinkman. Uh, it's written and directed by the rigid oji creator, Vince Gilligan. And it takes place. It's been confirmed. It takes place after the events of this series. No news yet on which characters will be making appearances or cameos. Um, but my question is this a great idea or should they leave well enough alone? Cause it was a fantastic series. Have you seen it?
Speaker 3:
12:15
Yes. Um, my husband's obsessed. I wasn't as obsessed but I was obviously amazing and I feel like actually follow Aaron Paul's wife on Instagram. Lauren Paul, very calm, very cool family, love their friends. And she was the one I first saw this post about and I was like, I just, I don't know. It's kind of like, I feel the same way. I don't know. You just like, are they really going to do it justice? I don't know.
Speaker 4:
12:42
I just don't have a real weird feeling about bringing back stuff that was perfect. Like the office. I don't you do. I don't need a, where are they now? Like she shows like this, I just knocked out of the park
Speaker 5:
12:54
just here's what I'll say. If for complete viewer retention, if the office made a movie, you definitely watch it a hundred percent you definitely want, I think that's where the, if is, is it a money thing? Yeah. If you're a producer, if you're a producer, it's a smart bet to say people are going to watch this. Are they gonna Watch it twice? We don't know cause I'll definitely watch it, but I feel the same way because I feel like breaking bad ended splendidly. Yeah. I feel like as a whole it was what, four seasons? Yes. Like four or five seasons wasn't too long. Wasn't too short
Speaker 4:
13:25
the needle, but I'm still gonna Watch it. Yeah. It's, it's fun because I love Aaron Paul. Speaking of movies or shows are coming back with movies. Psych has already made a TV movies and I love psych. I don't know if you all watched it. A big fan of, it's like it's a comedy. It's, he's a fake psychic. This really just really, it has a photographic memory solves crimes producer. Jim, why should I pretty sure I've seen like an APP. I knew it was getting started. James Roday and then do lay hill from the west wing if y'all are fast. And uh, so they made a TV movie that was a sequel to the show in 2017 but now they're making a sequel to the sequel one other TV movies coming out. And so I've just noticed a recent trend of where there Netflix or Hulu or you know, some tea, you know, TV station bringing back television shows in cinematic form. My question is what TV shows would you guys like to see come out in a movie form?
Speaker 3:
14:19
Hmm. Is it tough? Really tough. Oh, I already have one admin. Like I watch that so bad binged. It's so hard and it was so good and I just love the fashion and the eyes and just like everything about it was so the actors were amazing. Um, I also weirdly quite, what's another dressing you? I love house but that would be weird. House of cards as well. Yup. Has Fides movie. It would be Kinda
Speaker 1:
14:52
cool. I think Netflix could do it. The show was like dragging on, but I felt like a movie would be solid. The injection it needs. I mean stranger things would kill. Oh my gosh. Yeah. It feels like a movie. It does. And then bringing him back obviously for two more seasons, but I think to end it they should just do one big two hour. Oh, I love that. Okay. That'd be awesome. Yeah. I'm trying to think cause I was gonna say stranger things. Um, I mean I've seen, I've only seen the first two, the, I've seen the first two seasons of true detective and I loved it. Loved it. I mean we'll definitely do a true detective season three. Yeah, it was going to say, I was going to say Seinfeld, but I don't know how they'd make that into a movie. I am just the biggest sign.
Speaker 1:
15:36
So like I two hour special, high modern science. I would love to see that in a movie. I don't know what they would do it. They'd probably do nothing. But I would, I would love that. I think the one thing I'd love to see above all is a gritty retelling of Gullah Gullah island. Just a dark net. I don't know what they did. Some more like in lost, so the Dominican, we're like the creatures in the woods and lost and oh my gosh. Yeah. Good Times. Anybody like Sabrina? Okay. Anyway, lots of fun stuff come out on TV. It's super the last time, right? Oh, bachelor. Hey Jd, why you looking so down there pal? Dude, I'm sorry man. I got a huge, huge problem right now. What's up? I mean I'm just, I'm really upset at myself. Like I, I'm so diligent every week I'm watching the bachelor right this week. Like you're the biggest fan this week. I missed it man. Like, and I just, I don't know what happens. I woke up this morning, it was a weird day and I just, I have no clue what's going to happen next. Like is he still a virgin? Like is he, you know, with that shit? Like did he make like I have no clue. I'm mean, I'm really upset. Well, what if I told you I had goodness, are you fooling me? I'm not fooling new pal. What happened brother? Let me tell you what happened this week on the bachelor
Speaker 6:
16:58
this week, the bachelor headed back to the states and went to Colton's hometown of Denver, Colorado. Whoever ends up with the rose this week is going to take our simple minded protagonists home to meet their family. Colton has made it clear he wants to find someone special and not rush things so naturally it's good that the four random women are going to introduce them to their parents. It's important to note that Colton is still aversion Taishan Colton have a one on one and she decides to steer into the skid of integrity and trash. Everyone Taisha says that she doesn't want to be a quote tattletale and quote and then waits a whole two seconds before giving up Kacie and Kailyn because she is a woman of restraint. Colton is surprised by all of this, probably due to all the injuries he accrued during his career in the NFL. Colton's next one on one is with Kailyn and when you believe it, she says it.
Speaker 6:
17:48
Taisha is telling the truth. Colton is shook that woman. Women would speak poorly of each other behind their back. To quote Michael Scott, his mind is going a mile an hour to call anyone who's ever watched this show. It's probably going even slower. Caitlin confronts Tasia and the to come to a reasonable and amicable resolution because they are rational adults just getting, they obviously rip onto each other and devastatingly in their strong and deeper to TV friendship and Colton is still a virgin cola takes hand to be to meet his family and the script from this week's episode tells her that she noticed Colton is acting a little weird and distant. Colton comes clean and says that he just now realized that he might not be ready in quote to be on this show, which is okay because we're only 70% of the way through this show and he's contractually obligated to finish.
Speaker 6:
18:38
Colton states that he hasn't taken any time to consider a future with Hannah B and that while she has given him no conflict or reason to rule her out, he is going to do the sensible thing and roll her out because he is a dumb ass. Also on fact at the 23 seasons of this show, only one bachelor has stayed together with the woman that he chose, so there's about a 4% chance Colton is going to absolutely nail this one for the final group date. Colton takes Kasey anergy, Heather and curb on a train ride through the mountains. Heather breaks things off of Colton because she doesn't need this bag of bones to know who she is or to know that she is going to be next season's Bachelorette. PURPA and Cassie start bickering about something in consequential in Coleman exhaust the dendrites in his brain. He was still a virgin.
Speaker 6:
19:26
Colton gives Hannah g arose before dinner comes because he is a cheap date in the middle of cup and Cassie's few Kaylin shows up and throws a grenade into the situation. We don't know what she says to Colton, but I'm guessing it was completely edifying to the situation and not at all. Also asserting that being said, Colton gives Cassie the final rose and carpet goes home. Next week, Colton, we'll head off to meet the families of Kailyn, Cassie, Hannah g and Tasia so that he can look their parents in the eyes before he rules their daughters' lives. So that'll be neat interview to be continued because Colton is still a virgin.
Speaker 7:
20:05
Okay.
Speaker 1:
20:07
Wait, what are, you know, are you serious? Yeah, he did. What all that happened in one episode. In one episode, he said those things, he said those things. Wow. They did those things. Wow. She responded in such a way and they were there for the right reasons, the right reasons when they weren't. Oh. Which was, how do you think they know that we prerecorded this before we watched the MSA? They do now cut. It's just a dump. I love it. I seen, oh, I should also say I got in trouble last week, by the way. Uh, for my comments, I said a specific demographic which I was applying to women who watched the show and a very lovely young lady with beautiful, beautiful, beautiful eyelashes was not happy with me. And so I just want to state that appropriate by specific demographic. I mean anyone who appreciates quality television. That's what I meant. Perfect. Oh, just digging a hole deeper. Okay. We've asked me that. Yeah, there's more risky.
Speaker 1:
21:12
So there's a couple things I think we should touch on this week. I would also agree with that statement. Yes. Jd, you've done some research on both of these subjects. I'll go ahead and let you take the helm. But Ariana Grande's, thank you. Next, have you listened to the deputy? I'm all that Arianna and she said yes. She says Sassy has such a hard, hard year. And hearing Ariana Grande's, is that how you pronounce it? Area? I'm sorry, a, what was it? The Korean barbecue tat. So Aka she came out with her new album's. Thank you. Next, I've heard a few songs. Very impressed. Okay. The biggest streaming week ever for a pop album according to some good sources I found on Twitter. Yes. So it has debuted at number one on the billboard 200 200 albums chart. So going back to when Taylor swift's reputation came out, how do you compare, not even as artists, but the total impact that they've made on CD sales and streaming?
Speaker 1:
22:18
I mean, which one has made a bigger impact towards just listeners everywhere? Cause Taylor Swift, I mean she, she probably still is on top of the world, but back when that latest album came out, I mean, it was, it like it was outweighed any other previous album, like even m and m's album. I remember like it stuff to you, because to put this into context, the format has changed so much and they stop measuring based on actual album sales back in 26 streams. Yeah. Back in 2014 they made a shift and now they call it equivalent album units. So essentially they're there ma measuring because people don't buy cds anymore. Exactly. Gotcha. So there's a new, there's a new metric there. So I guess the stress can give the context. Okay. So Ana, you are an influencer. You keep up with trends more, more so than JD or I who you think has had a bigger impact on the goals for you? Swifty or Rhonda? Honestly, I was okay, who are you calling?
Speaker 3:
23:16
Both for certain reasons, but I will say just in the social media context, swifty made a way bigger. Sure. Like Arianna is great and I feel like she has a posse. She has like people really following her right by. I heard some like major gossip on Twitter and Instagram about her, like Santa, her like seven rings was, you know, some copying some other artists. I don't know. But I will say, I think Taylor's of her album was way more anticipating bigger. It was so high and it was, it was worth the hype. I feel very good. I will say rotation grew on me. It took a while. Like I was like, do I love it? Yeah, no it was, it was a little interesting. And, and she didn't really sit on Spotify. It was only on iTunes for a while. Ended with the rivalry with Katy Perry. Oh yeah. Well yeah, there's a lot going on. At the time and can we get a reputation
Speaker 1:
24:17
wow. Gained on the producer. Jim's upset. So,
Speaker 3:
24:24
but what about you guys? Who are you more like, I love Ariana for like being on linked Jimmy Fallon and yeah, like I love her personality. I love her. Look, it's so unique. It's so her, yeah, like everyone, you guys are like the Arianna a ponytail. Like guys say that. And I was like, Whoa, you know what that is. Whereas Taylor, I don't know, she's kind of like all over the place. Kinda doesn't have her own thing. I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 4:
24:49
My reason for Taylor real quickly is I think she has done a really good job of evolving her brand, whereas Ariana hasn't, Nestle had the chance to do that. It hasn't had a reason to do that. And Ariana kind of came into the spotlight as a bad girl and she got some Hobo, see with, you know, everything that happened last year and she's had a rough hand at rough go at it for sure. But I think Taylor has really navigated the limelight well, has been able to mold herself time and time again to where I have no doubt that when she comes out with her next project it will surpass what Ariana has done and that she to me, like Taylor is on the same wavelength as a Justin Timberlake or a Beyonce. Yeah. Wow. Well, when we look back in 30 40 years, those are going to be the ones that we, Ariana grande a maybe, but not. Probably not. Whereas Taylor, we will definitely talk, be talking about her as an all time. Great.
Speaker 3:
25:41
It's tough. I mean what Gds,
Speaker 1:
25:43
I'm just like, I'm sizzling. Okay. He shut a lot of food for thought. I'm shook like my takes really matter on the subject. Tune into this. Give us your input. I don't want to cry here. Mac Miller was my boy. Mac Miller was my boy back to the Koolaid and frozen pizza did like I'm talking, he's my boy. He's my boy if I'm going on. So Taylor swift. Both these girls are struggling with love right now. All right. I got an ex boyfriends all over the place. You got an ex boyfriend. So Ariana, and am I saying that correctly? Am I saying that correctly? Okay. It's pronounced Ana.
Speaker 1:
26:23
So just leave that home radio hits right now. I just like, I like the way Arriann is. Music Hits my ear. It sounds good to me. I can vibe to it with, with Taylor. Hmm. I'm sorry guys. She was, she was country than she was this, I'm like just, I mean, yes, she's evolving. Which all artists share deal. Yes, but I'm t Marianna. Okay. And I will be, because I loved Mac Miller and even though they were only together for a little while, I thought they were very cute. Yeah. And I like her music when I'm bumping it in Montreux. Good. And I think we should open this up to the audience here and we'll post on on Instagram and take a bowl here. But who's had a bigger impact? Ariana Grande or Taylor swift. That's a great, it's a sheer conversation you guys tell us who post at this week. So neither one has dried out in my opinion. A little dry.
Speaker 1:
27:16
Thank you. I'm getting better. So this week it was, it came up. Yes it is. Subject of of towels came up and most specifically by a Twitter query from Abdul and K at Advil. I don't know why that's his name. I think. I think he got Advil and then like he just held onto it because Advil wanted exam. I'm sure. Yeah. What happens? So him and his girlfriend on Twitter, his girlfriend, ana or Anna, it's two ends, I think it's Ana. They had an argument and it went viral on Twitter about the, you know, how many towels should a person or a couple holes in their household. And it was a pretty honest question just between the two of them. But there were like 100,000 retweets on this question about people who were saying how many towels is standard for your home. Sure. And so that's the, so the top answer that got the most likes was that you should have.
Speaker 1:
28:07
Okay. Well what's a bath sheet? What's the difference in a bath towel? The tension is still really, really long. The one you put on the floor? I think so. So 10 bath towels, 10 hand towels, 20 washcloths and 10 bass sheets. Okay. What so because he had said that he thinks about 10 towels and she thought that was ridiculous. She shot the sheet. They should have like 50 to 60 towels. So on you guys. But as a guy. So what do you think Sean? Like I speaking as a bachelor. So you and I live together and I think we have to tap on the tweet us. I think we have discussed it between the two of us. We had maybe a washcloth that when you share this and I'm grossed out. So what's your thought Sean? Because I, I agree that 2030 foot 50 towels is a lot of towels, but oh hey buddy. Jim, really think you should have at least, I was going to say like five, two towels per week. I think that's reasonable. What did he say? Oh my gosh. Okay.
Speaker 3:
29:09
Hi. I feel like I need like 20 towels because there's literally like when guests come in, sure Blake uses like three a week. I use at least two a week. That's minimum is five. If I'm like, you know, cycling through the wash cycle. Yeah. And then you have to wash and dry and then you have, honestly I'm not a big wash class girl, I don't really know anyone who is. I didn't grow up with like a 10 I just washed my face with my hands. Right. And so I feel like 20

bath towels would be ideal. Interesting. That's a good number. And that's probably honestly how many we have. Do you have 20 bath towels out of necessity or out of comfort? No, they're all different colors. I feel it's out of necessity or are we good? Okay. I think it, it, it, it really just depends on how big your house is too. Like if you're just living in a two bedroom apartment. Yeah. But like think about how many times you have to wash it. I wash my gosh, this is you guys listening. Just once a week. Okay. So the question for audience, how many different types of Dal should you have as an individual? As a couple, as, as an entity, as a collective unit. How many should you have? You tell us. I was saying as a couple.
Speaker 1:
30:38
All right, well this is my favorite segment, Michelle. This is boom roasted the part where we take actual headlines pulled straight from the news and we roast them today. Jd and I are joined with two guests, Ana, who you already know, the Gold Alice and our guests. We'll introduce here in a couple of segments. Mark, Donna, a movie critic here. Mark, can I do? I'm good, I'm good. Thank you for having me. Absolutely. Let's go ahead and dive into the roasting session. Jt, why don't you lead us off? Let's top it off. Number one. E cheese denied recycling leftover pizza slices after an incriminating video went viral, which is really gross. Said Sean s e eight his fifth slice of pizza from Chuckie cheese. Boom. Roasted or really stays JD. That's all right. That's right. Marky mark. Okay. I'm going to take a little bit of pleasure in this because, uh, yes, I went to the University of Texas, so a hook 'em a deceased mayor in Oklahoma is up for reelection and even made it onto the final ballot, which just goes to show Oklahoma sucks so bad that no living person who would want to be a mayor there.
Speaker 1:
31:48
Book roasted is a terrible state. It's really bad. Okay. Ana P hygge said a host for Fox News recently stated that he doesn't believe germs are real and therefore has not washed his hands and 10 years he is now a spokesman for chuck e cheese. Roast it. Oh yeah. When I was a kid, I always preferred shovels. Sorry. Absolutely. Okay. Well, there's a town reported that he, massive Fatberg consisting of fat, oil and wet wipes measuring 210 feet is blocking as sewer line and will reportedly take about eight weeks to break apart, which is surprising in that it only took JD about eight minutes to create it. Just ghosted. Boom, roasted some draino
Speaker 2:
32:40
there, pal. All right. A 31 year old man from Fort Collins was able to successfully survive and attack from a dangerous mountain lion by wrestling and suffocating it death. Meanwhile, Shawnee through gets lightheaded anytime he stands up from the couch to quickly boom roasted. It's true. I do. It's embarrassing. It's kind of exhausting but not, not for nothing. A 27 year old man borrowed an engagement ring from a complete stranger in order to propose to his girlfriend, but as cheap as he might be. The important thing is that producer Jim and his wife Melinda are very happy together. Boom. Roasted second gym. But that was a good one guys. That's on yet fashion. Yeah. We know we're actually tackled this subject before,
Speaker 4:
33:35
but we are renaissance men and women. Thank you ana for adding another gear to our, our capacity. And we're going to tackle this because we have, we have the gold atlas. Yeah. And so we can tackle anything that Ana, we, we, we've, we've gotten a few questions from listeners. I've got about four here and in JD and I might have if you wanted to go with that. Um, but these are actual questions we pulled folks and thought we'd, we'd get your fashion expertise to weigh in here. So, so really quickly just from JP non j d but JP, what if I just literally took all your questions and made JP JC
Speaker 3:
34:12
from j r j j r yeah. This is actually from Jp. This is actually
Speaker 4:
34:16
JP. And the question is on a are joggers still a thing?
Speaker 3:
34:21
Yes, I would say they are because I currently work for stitch fix and we have plenty of joggers on our websites, so I think they're in, I think they're a cozy athleisure look. I like the athlete, that's what we call it. Definitely gonna hit lesion. I'm just having an Athlesia really type of Sunday, like joggers sweats that, yeah, it's like a light really kind of edgy, but you're in like kind of a sweat west video. It's great. Okay. Um, you do this one Sean. Okay. So fashion week is coming up apparently. I don't know Ashley. Eric Fashion Week in New York passed. It's currently in or is it a state of mind
Speaker 4:
35:09
question? The real question is from Ashley here and it's, what are some of your fashion week
Speaker 3:
35:14
predictions? What are some trends are really going to catch on? Okay, well I do see, um, biggest trend colors like pantone color of the year kind of thing. I don't know if you guys follow that, but colors of the year are like cobalt blue, this like bright orange, I would say. Um, Lilac, purple and a little bit of yellow. These are all kind of trending right now also in spraying and neon which has come and go. And I used to love neon in high school, then it became like monochrome and everyone was wearing like black, gray camel, whatever. But um, neon has come back full throttle and spraying and that was one of the major trends on the runway. Um, obviously florals and spraying that's like obviously happens every year. But um, other big trends I would say a lot of hair accessories, clips and um, you know, just a lot of it and everything would be dazzling, dazzling, goslings in, that's Justin.
Speaker 3:
36:27
Justin, a heath coach isn't affordable place that guys can get trendy clothing because besides cotton on h and m and target, are there, is there anything else like I feel like a huge store that people do not know about is asis, asis.com it is a huge European kind of like I would say an h and m Zara and forever 21 combined and it's amazing and they have amazing returns and shipping and I loved it in high school and then it just boomed and they have men's clothing. They're really trendy because they're very fashion forward. Very London ask and I would've said h m I wouldn't say Zahra. I mean that's a huge portal for anything affordable. They have anything.
Speaker 3:
37:21
Zara is based in Spain and Europe and it has really the domain, the domain, very affordable, very on trend, very fashion forward and if you use the Promo Code Buzzer, nothing will happen. Oh also made off just launch men may dwell, just launched men's clothing. I wouldn't say it's that affordable or to places I've never heard of made laws like girls, I'm wearing jeans right now was a jeans based and then it like grew really big. It's owned by j Krill. All that to say it's blown up and like girls ages 20 to 30 and they just launched men's.
Speaker 4:
38:01
What if we created a knock off brand JD called made good. Made good enough. That's good enough. We were talking about fashion trends. Janie and I have a game for you this week. Yes. I'm so excited. So this game is called in or out in the star list of possible fashion trends yet again with Adrianna Allen, the gold atlas. So Jd, let's go to cruise through this. Let's do it.
Speaker 3:
38:27
Alright. Fanny packs and Yada. Same here. Crocs out. Yes.
Speaker 1:
38:37
Deep VNX bucket hats and denim on denim. And let's go baby dad's sneakers variant. George Black or denim out jelly shoes. Oh coach. Got It. Cammo Ooh out. No graphic tee shirts and wallet chains and I think we're on the same thing. Our golf sweaters. Okay, got that. I'm going to curse cargo shorts. Thank Yada monochromatic outfits. Verian mom jeans with flared bottoms and got it. Bamboo purses and anything. Anything bedazzled and far jumpsuits and animal print, zebra leopard, Cheetah, Accenture Verian got em thigh high boots and got them. I didn't know that. Anil appraise everywhere. So I'm in his life right now. Stacy, his life. So you were yesterday? No for crossing over v-necks yes. Bucket hats. Just Desk Secrecy Has George where you yes or no? No. Okay. And Jealous. She is but you are no one I missed. I missed. I missed way more than I think the last spot.
Speaker 1:
39:57
So JD did not redeem himself show. Alright, I'm ready. So that means you guys get to pick, let's say pick three of these picks, three of those that I have to wear the show on and I will pick a couple of days and then next week when we're taping with our next guest, JD will wear, this outfit will post on social media. Am I allowed to explain why I'm wearing it or no? I guess that would be worse if I just have to show, I think gives us that I show up with a wallet chain and thigh high boots or like some that a dazzle dazzled. You want to see you in a pair of goggles. Goose. All right, so you guys get to pick three of those. Gotta be great. That was in or out. Thanks guys. And that was our first ever fashion segment. So again, our thanks to Adrianna Alan Gold Atlas.
Speaker 4:
40:43
Uh, Ana. Wait, we still have more show to go here with mark the movie doc here in a bit, but real quick, what do people know you need to know? Where do you want him to go? Check you out.
Speaker 3:
40:52
Oh, um, just find me on Instagram. Follow my stories. I've got style tips, um, nutrition, skincare whenever you want. Um, I love connecting. So just follow along at the goal. Dallas and I'm on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, all of the above. Um, I'd love to hear from you.
Speaker 4:
41:13
Awesome. Go check it out. We'll obviously give you some love on the buzzer. Podcasts. You Rock Ana, you're always a great, great time. Great friend. Thanks for hanging out with us.
Speaker 1:
41:21
Thanks for having me. Have Sports. Yes. All Star weekend. Charlotte's. Yes sir. There wasn't very, wasn't a huge force,
Speaker 4:
41:34
but this is definitely the, the one thing you talk about, some of the best of the best VA met up this year in, in last year, they changed the format. So it used to be a west versus East Eastern conference game. You're right. Yes. And they evolved it last year and they did Tim O'brian versus team staff and they're keeping that going. And I personally love it. I, yeah, I like it too. It's great. Basically for, for those who don't know, what happens is, uh, the fans vote and they picked the two captains. And so this year it was Lebron and, and Janice and just to off. Yes. Right. And uh, they then like old school dodge ball style, pick their team based on the all star. So it adds a little bit of element there. They're all playing for charity. They're all playing for a little bit of a cash cash prize. Yeah, man. So this year and Lebron and geodes picked their teams and, and it was, and we'll get to that here in a little bit. Well, a couple of recaps from the weekend now, the rising star channels team USA versus the world. Uh, some notable players on team USA or Kakuma, Jason Taina, Trey Young, Donovan Mitchell, et cetera. And the world had Ben Simmons from Australia. Salmons don't check it. Don't check. And he's a Spaniard.
Speaker 5:
42:44
Oh yeah. What? He's a Dallas Mavericks. He's from Dallas now
Speaker 4:
42:48
is a Mash San. Yes sir. And uh, you know, so a team USA one and then dunk contest.
Speaker 5:
42:54
How many do d? Amadou Diallo was a nasty, nasty, don't jumped over Shaquille O'Neal. He barely touched him too. It was a tall man. He was insane. He's open over me. The dunk contest we, it needs to change in some format. That was the only highlight of the dunk contest. It was just, it's getting boring. Then like the best dunk contest recently in the past few years was Aaron Gordon Against Zach Levine. They went back to, I mean they absolutely killed it, but yeah, I think we need to get a little boring, but geodes needs to be in the next one. He, he just tweeted that he wants to be, yeah.
Speaker 4:
43:28
Now is so that we'll get into the all star game itself now. So team Lebron, beat team Janice, uh, 170 864. This game has been fun. I noticed a lot of people poop out on the all star game. We'll get this moment. I enjoyed it just because there is no defense until like the fourth quarter. Then they'll tighten up a bit. But you get some crazy moms who've done some except fun to watch. It's fun. And there was the, I think the highlight play with Steph curry. Yeah. Balancing the alleyoop to Janice and he slammed it down. It is,
Speaker 5:
43:57
it went about. So if a, if a standard goal is 10 feet, he bounced it, it probably went 20, 25 feet up and Jiana still got up there and dropped it. It was sick.
Speaker 4:
44:06
It was defined. It was absolutely great. Kevin Moran was the game's Mvp with the, our team Bron and uh, you know, again, some, some notable players, not as much dunking this year because there was much more three point shooting, which is indicative of where the NBA has gone. Okay.
Speaker 5:
44:22
Klay Thompson went off. He played well Steph curry throughout probably 15 threes. I mean, you're exactly right. I mean, the whole, not every team in the NBA, but most of the teams right now are
Speaker 1:
44:32
extremely running gun. They're extremely efficient from the three point line or at least they try to be. Trey Young's, I mean, all these guys are doing it. So I mean like Lillard was just, it was, um, yeah, he was. And my boy Dirk Novitsky was throwing up so everybody chills. Dwayne Wade had it knocked down to three. It was fun seeing the old timers d wade and do through an Isol Aliya to the on old time's sake. And I love that. I'm glad I'm silver. Kind of a legacy pick and I'm glad he did too. And watching it, watching dark run. I was like, yeah, it was this guy, his, his poor knees, his knees looked like an old man outfit runs like oh it was, it was rough. But quick question for you, JD, just at time to time sensitive. Yeah. Do people still care about all star games slash I mean like approval is not that exciting.
Speaker 1:
45:19
No, it definitely gets more publicity than the pro bowl for NFL. The All star game. Cause there's really, I think, I think the home run Derby for the MLB is up there with one of the top things that people watch. Yes. My hot takes one event because it's a super fun event. Um, you know, there's a ton of fan interaction going on and everybody loves baseball and being at the game. But the all star game, like if you watch this one here in Charlotte, I mean half the stadium was kind of empty. It's just, I think they've got it. Adam silver's got to do something to get more viewers. I think it's bigger than the pro bowl. Sure. But less important than something like a home run. Derbies so here's some, I don't, I don't agree with this, but it does make the MLB all star game more interesting.
Speaker 1:
46:02
But the winner, the winning conference home, which I think I need to think about that, but it does put something on the line. I'm sure it's been brought up. I didn't really think about that. Yeah. Obviously we've moved away from Western eastern conference. We've gone to, if it was teams, you can't really do it like that. So I'd be like, is there something unknown that the NBA All Star game could put on the line to make it more interesting? I don't know. Cause they're trying to play for charity. They're trying to play for in cash prize. But yeah, I dunno. Something that needs to happen. We'll obviously put our brains to it and I think, I think it'd be fun. I don't know if this would even be possible, but to choose like the best NCAA team and play against an NBA team and just see how some colleges scrubs could do I be interest on.
Speaker 1:
46:46
Yeah, I think that'd be fun. That would be the ultimate winner. Key Challenge. That's what I'm saying. So what are your thoughts? So what do you, what would you like to see? What kind of changes would make the all star game more interesting? Maybe hunger games style might do something for who knows who. That's how sports that sports movies. Wow. This is a jam packed episode. We've had one guest at a time. There are study. This is the first time we have two at a time. I'm really excited. This is another old friend of mine. He is a film critic with true view reviews as well as the Austin film critics association. And he's a big fan of superhero films according to him, his Twitter, none other than my old mark saw Donna.
Speaker 5:
47:31
Mark, how are you doing mark? What's up man? I'm good. I'm good. Thank you guys for having me on the show. Um, it's been fun. Now what, you know, recorded here and participating in a little bit too.
Speaker 1:
47:41
Mark [inaudible] was featured on the boom Russ in segments. So if you're wondering who was that, that other voice and that's him and mark, you've got a lot going on. We're obviously ramping up at south by southwest, but what, tell the people what they need to know about you, what you've been up to and, and kind of give us a little bit of insight.
Speaker 5:
47:58
Okay. Uh, as far as a film critiquing is concerned, I've been reviewing films since uh, 2009 for a website called Tru vue reviews is that calm? Uh, last year I was inducted into the Austin Film Critics Association, which is definitely an honor and a pleasure and a, yeah. So we're here to talk about Oscars. I'm excited.
Speaker 1:
48:22
It's a good time of year. Yeah. We looked through the list a few days ago and there's definitely a few that we've seen are interested in, but there's also a few that I've never heard of. That's why I'm just why you're here and which is why, like I talk about it, but there's a few that some people may not have heard of. Our casual, very casual. Obviously we want to go and we want to see things that are important and define a tomato's movie. Fans were very up here. Got To ride that wave. That's pretty you. A couple, a couple of things I want to touch on on this, on this segment, but for one, for the casual fan, what should they be seeing? Two to bone up for this weekend? Uh, I wouldn't
Speaker 5:
49:05
go see are, I mean you don't even have to go see this a best picture nominee because it's on Netflix. So if you have a Netflix subscription and you have that watch Roma, right? Because that is a four. Yes. Wow. Yeah. They did this, a Netflix that this kind of simultaneous, a theatrical, a Netflix release and I believe it's still playing in certain theaters. I don't know if it's playing an Austin still, but, uh, regardless, you can watch it on Netflix. It's a great foreign film. Spanish language film by Alfonso [inaudible] and, uh, I, I mean, if I could delve into my prediction for best picture, I think Rama will win best picture. That's as well. It's a hot take on the Buzzer as well. Alfonso, uh, will win best director. So that's my prediction. You'll see no
Speaker 1:
49:58
march predictions are our predictions because I trust mark entirely. Let's do Roma. I've never doubted what he said. And so if he says Romo is going to win, then damnit. Roman's gonna win it.
Speaker 5:
50:08
Probably good. I don't know. I like Black Panther, but I was very surprised. I'm still pulling for the dark knight to win best picture. So I don't know. I don't know if that's going to happen there. I'm writing it on my Osteo. That's right. That's right. That's actually the
Speaker 1:
50:25
man needs a throat lozenge. Batman is crackly
Speaker 4:
50:28
voice there in Bain's. Not much better. Like you feeling sad, but nonetheless, that's a pleasant voice. He does. He doesn't a pleasant voice. So mark though, I obviously like, I'd love to get your take on, not like you got best picture, best director, but who's we walked away with the best actor, actress and the supporting actress. Right?
Speaker 5:
50:46
Okay. So for best actor, I think Ramy, Malik will win for Bohemian rhapsody. Oh, he's a popular face fixture. And I mean regardless of how you feel about the movie itself, he gives a hell of a performance in it. And I think he will walk away with the Oscar. So quick question in topic two. This movie, cause when I saw it I really was blown away because I did a little bit of research before I saw it. And so I was able to kind of read up on his life and stuff. But the live aid, so, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the live aid performance that they did, didn't they? S that was kind of a spitting image of the actual concert. So at the very end when he was performing, because it was called live aid, right. Have that huge concert because I watched the one on youtube, the original one with Queen, and then I watched the movie one.
Speaker 5:
51:37
It's the exact, I mean it was uh, it was great. Like it was getting image of what he had actually done. Like what Freddie Mercury did. It was fantastic. Yeah. Malik's a performance is amazing and it's so, the teeth were a little big for my team. Yeah, I agree that they were saying like it was a little farfetched it. Yes. But I mean if anyone could have done it, I probably would cast set in for it. Like it was a fun Washman Ramy on that one. Okay. So best actress, I think, uh, the academy because they're known for being, some of them being a little bit older, some of the members being a little bit older and liking more classical type actors, I think they're going to go with the Glenn Close, uh, for the wife. So interesting. So that's another film if you have the chance to see it.
Speaker 5:
52:25
It is a great film. It does feature a fantastic performance by Glenn close. So, uh, that's another film I would recommend if you want to watch some movies, some of these movies before the Oscars. That's great. That's great. And then real quick, supporting actor and actress, I think, uh, my Hershey Ila Ali will win for greenbook. He's so good and he is phenomenal in this film. I've been earlier on the show we're touching and I've been watching the season three true detective and I really think he gives a mcconaughey ask calor performance. Maybe not as good as these in the ones people, but it's still, he's so good. I've yet to watch the new season of true detective. But yes, I'm looking forward to it just because of him. And then, uh, for supporting actress, I think Regina King from if Bill Street could talk, I think she'll win because her performance and that is superb.
Speaker 4:
53:15
There's a lot of good ones out there. Um, what are some, like what were some of the movies that may not necessarily when, but you really enjoyed this year, a cigarette here as
Speaker 5:
53:24
in 2018? Yeah, he's just like over the past year cause I was like, there hasn't been much this year, not 29, 10 over the last show of 2018 yet of 2018. I mean I could talk about, uh, some of the films that weren't nominated that uh, should, I probably should have been the dark night, obviously backpack in the year it was released. How do you think
Speaker 4:
53:47
the Oscar is actually had the 10 movie format or the aim is whatever?
Speaker 5:
53:52
Uh, I was really surprised that it feels street could talk, was snubbed because it is such an excellent film. So I was really surprised it was not nominated. Uh, I could also mention, uh, I was disappointed at Ethan Hawke was snubbed for the best actor Oscar because, uh, he was excellent at first were formed. Uh, as far as some of the good publicity on that one. As far as the great surprises, I mean some of the great surprises that I thought a pleasant, like happy like, oh, I wasn't expecting that. Uh, two of the actresses from Roma were nominated a yell eatsa up at ACO was a nominated for best actress and Medina date. Davita was, uh, nominated for best supporting actress and I was not expecting that at all. I just thought, well yeah, it'll give it a, a foreign language nod. They might give it a best picture not, but they actually nominated to, uh, uh, the main actresses in the film. So I was really pleasantly surprised by that.
Speaker 4:
54:54
I'll tell you why. Like if Netflix walks away in a couple of Oscars on this one big time, man, and that just shows like the movie industry is evolving and it's
Speaker 5:
55:03
Roma, a Netflix original? No, they're just there. It's a Netflix film. Okay. Second Netflix released.
Speaker 4:
55:11
Was it like a, like an indie kind of project or they picked up or, yeah, pretty much. Got It still. I mean that's, that's, that's a big change in the industry now. Like there's multiple avenues and outlets to go out and get your craft, which is pretty cool. But speaking of changes in the industry, there was a little bit of controversy over the last week. Uh, there's a little bit of a back and forth year. The Oscars are trying to get viewership up as a major event. This is probably some people Superbowl honestly. And it is for me, this is like this is his biggest night and uh, and so they're definitely trying to keep viewership. And obviously there's been a lot of kind of controversy. We're not going to talk on the whole Kevin Hart thing but, but this past week they tease the idea, not only tease, like they were legitimately took out four categories, including best cinematography, makeup and hairstyling live action shorts and best film editing.
Speaker 4:
56:05
And then a number of people push back on this. A lot of people, including Alfonzo, I'm director of a, of Roma as well as Martin Scorsese, Brad Pitt, Lester banks and George Clooney. Lot of people were upset about this. Yes. So kind of two questions, like, one you don't want to take away from the art and there's so much involved to filmmaking that it would be a shame just to, to get rid of it. I understand the, the idea was we want to get the exciting everyone tunes in for best picture, best actor, big stuff, but you don't want to throw out the, the, the important roles and make these movies. So my question mark is what can the academy do to make the Oscars more engaging? What would you
Speaker 5:
56:42
like to see more of? That is a tough question because I think they need to keep, especially a cinematography, makeup, uh, editing, you know, some of those major awards because they play such a big role in a cinema. So I'm not really in favor of trimming out the award presentation, but, uh, I'm more in favor of cutting out some of the nonsense and they're like, just, I mean maybe. Yeah, like speed up the actual shelf, speed it up, trim out some of the jokes and gags do fall flat. And then do we need to have like a, I mean I don't know if there's a lot of stuff, extra stuff that they pad in there that just seems so unnecessary. And I think that if they took a note from the Golden Globes, and I know a lot of people think that golden gloves are a joke just because of the, the awards that they do a vote on or give out, like their choices are.
Speaker 5:
57:43
I mean, but I'm okay with that. But like sometimes like the way they vote is kind of like fodder for jokes and ridicule. Like, well, I can't believe you guys pick this movie for best picture, whatever. Regardless of that, if you ever watched the Golden Globes, they're really, really quick about moving things along and there's show starts off easy about seven 7:00 PM central standard time and it ends usually right at 10 o'clock and I think that's good. And where the Oscar started at seven and eight tend to run over 11 o'clock so they just need to just be faster, quicker and yeah, all around.
Speaker 4:
58:29
I think that would help a lot and I think that just having a consolidated effort to, to make it funnier, make it lighter, make it quicker. That would go a long way. And I don't want mitigate people's passion projects or people's taking advantage of a platform. I think that's they're riding the brigade but same time it does feel a little preachy and it feels a little preachy from multiple angles to the point where I'm like I don't even know what I'm supposed to like feel bad about or what I'm supposed to feel good about. And I think maybe like, you know, just try to make it a little bit more lighthearted in, in quicker would probably go a long way. But that's just me. That being said, I think the important thing we can walk away here knowing is that mark picked Sherlock and Watson to whiskey
Speaker 5:
59:10
best picture. I must have blacked out when that happened. And not only fridge, we bring you on the show and what was in the switch? No, but I haven't even seen that blue B because it looked like it could've been funny. And then the reviews, the reviews, the buzz, it was just like, Ooh, no, I just don't want even want to try it. I'm afraid I like, I like, I like will Ferrell. I liked John C. Reilly and I don't want to hate them. I totally agree. Leave well enough alone. Mark. Ah, we definitely appreciate you coming out here. Anything we need to know is movie goers or as fans of of the cinema. What imparting words would you give to, to the buzzer audience? Well, I mean I, I mean if you, if you want to look for a new place for reviews, maybe reviews. If you liked what I had to say tonight.
Speaker 5:
