Let's Have a Powwow
LHAP is centered around the Urban Indigenous experience in NYC. We will talk about guests Homelands and How and Why they came to the big city. We will also cover culture and fashion as it is a big part of the Podcast Hosts' life. Being a fat, brown woman working in Fashion for over 20 years I've heard it all! Let's Have a Powwow is inspired by those cringe moments we've had in professional settings where someone has suggested "having a powwow" to discuss work stuff. We are reclaiming the word! So join in and enjoy indigenous excellence. Don't worry, everyone is invited, we will also feature some of my favorite Allies!

Murielle Borst-Tarrant
Ha.we and welcome back, this week I speak with NYC urban indigenous royalty, Murielle Borst-Tarrant. She was born in New York City and was raised in a mafia run Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn. Murielle’s one woman show Tipi Tales from the Stoop, showcases the woes of Being the only indigenous family living on the block. Yes, there was racism, prejudice, and all the ignorance you can imagine, but murielle also informs her audience the importance of laughter in Native families. Murielle comes from a long lineage of performers and activists. She is carrying on her families legacy as a playwright, and director who intertwines activism within indigenous storytelling. Murielle is the The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Playwright in Residence at LaMama Experimental Theatre club. Her current show Feast of Ghosts: Wailing will be showing at LaMama November 6th-8th Murielle has this infectious energy that made our time together really special. And without further ado… Here she is Relatives...
