Hello everyone. Welcome to Travelling Through Life: A Podcast on the Go. I'm your host Tara and the founder of the blog Travel with TMc, which is where this adventure all began. Travelling Through Life: A Podcast on the Go is a fun and quirky show that delves into everything travel, whether from the road, in the air, or in between here and there. On the podcast, I chat with all sorts of people who are travelling and living in different ways, whether that's vanlife,

weekend travellers, people who live abroad, or those who are just dipping their toes in for the first time. My goal with the podcast is to highlight that there are many different ways to travel and experience our world, whether that's locally or overseas. I'm also hoping you'll be inspired to try new ways of travel with the conversations that we share here. Make sure to subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen so that you don't miss notifications for new episodes.

And please leave a 5-star review and a comment with who you'd like to hear in future shows. This week on Travelling Through Life: A Podcast on the Go, we meet two very special and very giggly girls with a unique perspective that's not often shared in the greater travel conversation. Kinsey and Coral are young sisters who've travelled in Canada and the U.S. with their family. We chat about the bonds created on road trips, the souvenirs that they like to collect,

and the role that technology has played in their travel experiences thus far. We also chat about their dream destinations and tips that they have for other young travellers. Get ready for this conversation. These girls are definitely going to have you smiling throughout. Thanks for listening and let's dive into this week's episode!

Tara (Travel With TMc) (01:49)
Hey, it's me again. It's Tara from the present. I just wanted to let you know real quick that it appears that we have some technical audio difficulties in this episode. There is an echo when I'm speaking, so please forgive me for that. I'm learning as I go here. The plus side of this is that I don't do a lot of talking. It's really my guests that do. So I hope that you enjoy the episode and thank you for listening.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (02:20)

Coral and Kinsie De Young (03:20)
I'm thrilled to have you guys on the show.

Hello. Hi.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (03:25)
So for anybody who's listening to the podcast and hearing these giggly girls, I've been teaching Kinsie and Coral privately for about three years and they're awesome to work with. They always have great questions and they're full of enthusiasm as you will hear throughout our chat. So girls, why don't you tell us a bit about yourselves, who you are, how old you are and where you're calling in from today.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (03:27)
So for everybody who's listening to the podcast...

teaching Tunesian Choral privately for about three years and they're awesome to work with. They always have great questions and they're full of enthusiasm as you will hear throughout our chat. girls, why don't you tell us a bit about yourselves, who you are, how old you are.

can start too. My name is Coral. Wait, don't say my last name.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (03:57)
No, that's okay.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (03:59)
My name is Coral and I am in grade seven and I am 13 and we are in Kitchener.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (04:09)
Kitchener Ontario Canada,

Coral and Kinsie De Young (04:13)
I am Kinsie, I am in grade 9 and I'm 14 years old.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (04:19)
Awesome, and you guys are sisters. Yep. Fabulous. You guys have travelled to a few places so far, right? You've travelled around Ontario and Florida, is it? Yeah, why don't you guys tell us about some of the trips that you've taken as a family? Maybe you have a favourite trip or a first trip that you've been on that stands out?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (04:22)
Yep.

Yep.

Our first big trip was going to Florida and we went to Florida to visit our grandparents and also go to Disney World and I say the next one? And we went to Ontario Ottawa to watch the Leaf game in Ottawa and We went to Ottawa three times

For white water rafting. Just going there to visit. Actually, yeah. One of our other siblings had a hockey tournament there. So we went there. And then a Toronto Maple Leaf game.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (05:32)
Yeah, you guys are a big sports family, aren't you? Yeah, each of you play sports too. What do you guys do?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (05:39)
We both do horseback riding and then I also do dance. And in the summer I'm doing beach volleyball.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (05:46)
Very cool, awesome. And you get to travel a little bit with those, right? With your siblings and with your trips as well with competitions and things. Whereabouts?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (05:51)
We're going to the USA. Yeah

Detroit. For volleyball.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (05:59)
No way! Will that be the first time there?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (06:01)
For us yeah Nothing I know the Detroit Red Wings play there I Know it's by the border So I guess we're gonna drive there

Tara (Travel with TMc) (06:03)
Yeah, what do you guys know about Detroit?

⁓ all right, another hockey tie. There we go.

Yeah.

Cool. Do you guys like road trips

or do you prefer to fly?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (06:25)
I like road trips for like not for the comfortableness but not on planes either but I'm not gonna lie it's okay because it's kind of fun but I like planes better but I don't really like the hearing problem. What do mean the hearing problem? Like with your ears when it goes high.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (06:38)
Yeah?

do you mean the hearing problem?

when they pop?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (06:50)
For me, we've only been on planes, like a plane once to go to Florida and since we've only done it once, the whole experience was fun, how you get to like go on to airport, find your stuff, even though like once you've done it multiple times, it's kind of like, oh, it's like, why do I have to do this every single time? But it was kind of just fun to get that experience in. But...

We also do a lot of road trips as family, which is really fun and everyone just enjoys it.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (07:23)
Yeah, you guys have

how many people in your family when you travel for the road trips? So you're cozy, right? Yeah. Do you guys have any travel traditions as a family? Like when you're going on the road trips or when you're visiting your grandparents, is there something that you always do either before you travel or when you're in the vehicle travelling or once you get to your destination?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (07:27)
Six. Yeah. So you're cozy, right? Yeah. Do you guys have any travel traditions as a family?

We watched TV on the road trip. Yeah. We used to do a lot of things while we were on the road trip, definitely when we were younger and it was always like you didn't know what to do, you're kind of always bored. But then now all of us are kind of at the age where we all have our own devices. We can all play music and

You can also download movies on each individual device compared to when we were younger, we had TVs in our car and we could just put on a movie and watch it all together.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (08:25)
Yeah, was there any one movie that everybody would want to watch together? Or did you guys all fight over like who got to

Coral and Kinsie De Young (08:31)
a bear movie

Tara (Travel with TMc) (08:31)
choose the movie? A bear movie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (08:34)
yeah we got it was like you had to have CDs so we would buy movies at like the library or like a thrift store or whatever and there was like this country bear movie and they all sang yeah that that one we watched a lot we also used to watch when we were younger a lot of Sofia The First

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Yeah. Good one. Yeah.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (09:02)
Good one. Nice.

Awesome. And do you guys get to help choose where you travel to? Like with the Florida trip, did you help plan any of that? Are you totally along for the ride?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (09:06)
And do you guys get to help choose where you travel to? Like with the Florida trip, did you plan any of that? Or are you totally along for

the ride? I'll just go with the flow. If we were going, I was so happy. Yeah. We obviously go there for like main things and like why we go there. Like Disney World, we went to Florida to go to Disney World. But then also in

Tara (Travel with TMc) (09:20)
Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (09:32)
some of the free days that we have because it's a vacation then we also can like pitch in like when We went to Ottawa some of the times we would go to like museums that big museum with the big off to jellyfish in it I'm not too sure what it's called. It it had a glow-y jellyfish

Tara (Travel with TMc) (09:48)
Which big museum?

No, no way. I don't think I've been to any museums in Ottawa. We'll have to look that one up.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (10:04)
We went to Québec on like just for like one day to get poutine and kind of just like see around. We'd like stopped in at Québec for like a day and so on the free days we definitely are able to like decide what we want to do and we kind of pitch in a little bit but we go there for like main reasons and

Tara (Travel with TMc) (10:17)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (10:34)
Did you hear me? We went to Ottawa to go to a big water park. Yeah, like when... We were going white water rafting. Yeah, so when we went to Ottawa for this one time, we did two like major things. We went white water rafting and then we also went to... A water park.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (10:36)
No, I didn't.

⁓ yeah, I remember you guys talking about that. Great.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (10:59)
these three ginormous slides that went like and down. Um I know it might have been like the biggest in Ontario or like it was like a really like big water park and while we were there we only got tried like five rides like it was so busy we had to wait in lines for so long. I was really scared for those rides so I didn't ride all of them but I rode that big one.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (11:27)
Were you scared because they were high or because they were faster? You're a fish, aren't you? You're swimming.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (11:30)
They were the ones that went in the dark and then they went like up like that. I don't wanna go

in that. I don't wanna flip.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (11:36)
I feel like you're a risk taker though, Coral. I'm surprised by that.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (11:41)
Okay, okay, I'll do that on roller coasters, but not on water slides. Yeah, we love roller coasters, but the thing that scares me about water slides is the fact that you're not strapped into anything. That's the thing that scares me. You're going down, sometimes the same steepness as a roller coaster, but you're not buckled into anything. And it's in the dark? I think I want to use that.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (11:44)
Okay, fair enough.

That's a good point. That is kind of scary.

Alrighty. What do you guys like to eat when you're travelling? Do you like to try new foods?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (12:12)
Well when we went to Disneyland I really loved their slushies. It was like a pop flavour and then it was blue raspberry. And we put like our different candy choices in it.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (12:22)
Where they like different flavours slushies from, huh?

You put candy in the slushies?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (12:36)
We put pop rocks in the candy it was actually in that sushi it was actually so good

Tara (Travel with TMc) (12:42)
Have you ever done that since

you've gotten home? No? If you guys were to plan a trip, if you got to say, are taking over for this trip, where would you go? What would you do? Go ahead, yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (12:47)
No. Well, I don't get pop rocks.

Bora Bora.

I'd want to go to Bora Bora and I would want to go on those like like houses or like how do you call how do you say it? Like the over water? That's yeah and I want to go and I want to go on a jet ski and I want to like go swimming with those sharks.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (13:14)
Like the overwater villas? Yeah.

Hold on. You don't like the dark, but you want to go swimming with sharks. Yeah. ⁓ true. It does look beautiful, doesn't it? Yeah, very cool. Kinsie, what about you? What would be your dream trip and what would you want to do on it?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (13:29)
You don't like the dirt, but you want to go swimming with sharks. Yeah. And I like the clear water.

I would want to go to Thailand for the floating lantern festival. I am a big Disney fan and I love Rapunzel and it would just be so cool to experience.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (14:01)
I haven't seen the Disney Rapunzel. Do they have the floating lantern festival in that movie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (14:04)
Do they have the Floating Nature Festival at

that movie? Yeah, it's ⁓

Yeah, like she's a long lost princess of the village, I guess you could say. And she gets stolen by this person. Her hair is magical. since she's lost every single year on her birthday, they let all these lanterns go in the air. And yeah, her dream was to go see it. And then she finally got to see it and realized. a true story? No, it's it's Disney.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (14:36)
I don't think

that's a true story. Yeah. But it sounds like maybe a movie I need to watch. Very cool. Awesome. And what would you guys do? I mean, in Thailand, they speak another language there. Would you want to try and learn the language bit? I know you're learning French in school.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (14:39)
But it sounds like maybe a movie I need to watch. Yep.

there would you want to try and the language bit? You're learning French at school. For sure.

It's really difficult. I would love to learn a different language.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (14:59)
What about you, Coral? Would you learn a new language to go travel somewhere?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (15:04)
If I could learn it fast. Yeah, do like a couple of phrases. Cause I'm not, I'm not patient. I think you're more patient than you give yourself credit for. Okay, we're going to move on to a new topic. This one I think is kind of interesting because you guys have grown up with so much tech. Whereas when I grew up, it was like TV and then we got

Tara (Travel with TMc) (15:06)
Yeah, you can do like a couple phrases.

I think you're more patient than you give yourself credit for. Okay, we're gonna move on to a new topic. This one I think is kind of interesting, because you guys have grown up with so much tech. Whereas when I grew up, it was like TV. And then we got the internet

when I was around your age, right? Why are you laughing over there? You don't know. So every time you've travelled...

What is so funny? Every time you've travelled, you've had YouTube videos to watch, or you've had your phones with you, or Instagram, or other things like that. Do you think that you could travel without phones and data and Wi-Fi?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (15:47)
videos to watch.

Instagram or other things like that. Do you think that you could travel without...

No. is my life practically. She's asking if you could travel with it. Yeah, could travel with She's asking to travel without it. Not like, oh, you're at your house and you can't have your phone for 24 hours. I mean, I could travel without it, but I'd rather travel with it so can have the photos. What if you had a disposable camera?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (16:25)
⁓ what if you had like a disposable camera? Do

you think you could do that?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (16:29)
Yeah, I wouldn't need my phone.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (16:31)
okay. Alrighty. What about you, Kinsie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (16:34)
I think I'd be able to manage my way around and like Coral said to have like photos would be like a big thing.

It would for sure be difficult since you're like in a new place and you don't really know you can learn things about it but like once you're there you kind of just don't know really a lot of things about it but I think you could do it.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (17:02)
Yeah, I think you guys could definitely do it. You're both pretty friendly people. You'd find your way. Do you guys, I know we've talked about this in the past, do you have favourite travel YouTubers that you watch or anybody that inspires you online? That's okay.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (17:08)
Do you guys, I know we've talked about this in the past, do you have favourite?

Those van people? I don't remember your names.

What are their names? Yes.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (17:22)
Anybody? Are you thinking Kara and Nate? They do a bit of van stuff and some non van stuff. Yeah, they're they're both nodding their heads. Yes. Yeah. What do you guys like about watching

Kara and Nate? Why are they interesting?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (17:35)
Because I used to want to live in a van. Living in a van just seems so cool.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (17:41)
Yeah, you've had lessons in a van? That's kind of halfway there. So for context for anybody who's listening for the first time, I started building out a van that I purchased two years ago and so the girls have seen all the different stages of the van build so far.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (17:51)
Yeah.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (17:57)
Yeah. And Kinsie, would you say your favourites are Kara and Nate as well? Yeah. Is there anybody else that you guys watch?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (18:07)
You of course!

Tara (Travel with TMc) (18:09)
I'm not on YouTube yet, but with you guys I will be.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (18:11)
YouTube yet but with you guys I will be.

No like I watch like travelling videos like every once in a while but there's not like besides Kara and Nate there's not like a channel that I really go to to watch.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (18:26)
Hmm, fair enough.

And you guys were talking about pictures before. I know you like taking pictures when you travel. Do you end up like printing any of them and making scrapbooks or photo albums or does everything stay in your phone and you like to go through and look at your memories that way?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (18:41)
just keep them as my lock screen. So then when I open my phone I can see it. Cause I wish I was there still. It's when I was going up the trail at Chicopee and it was really like sunset and like clouds. Like a pink sky.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (18:44)
that's a good idea.

Yeah, gives you a little smile every time. Yeah. What's the lock screen on your phone right now? You don't have to show us, but what trip is it?

⁓ beautiful. And

yeah, and for people who are from out of town, Chicopee is our ski hill in Kitchener. The girls are big snowboarders and skiers and all of that. You should go to it. Definitely. What would you guys say is the coolest thing that's happened to you on a trip so far?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (19:11)
Yeah, and for people who are from out of town.

You should go to it.

When we went to Florida, we saw these small stingers. And they came super close to us. We got them on video. Yeah, and they came so close to the shore.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (19:48)
No way.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (19:52)
We were afraid of them so obviously we didn't want to stay around them. And while also we were in ocean, fish were biting at our feet and we also got scuba diving gear so we also could see the fish. Yeah, could see the fish. also... I don't know if Kinsie saw but there was this one crab that went under the sand that I saw.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (20:20)
No way!

Coral and Kinsie De Young (20:20)
And we also searched for like coral and cool shells. And it was really fun. And we went to this like alligator spot and we saw two alligators. And iguanas? Iguanas. Iguanas or lizards. We saw both. Yeah, and they were all in the wild? Yeah.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (20:28)
You

Very cool. ⁓ Yeah, and they were all in the wild?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (20:50)
They were so cool. Some were like orange, some were green, some were blue. Like, it was really cool. I think those are the ones that can change color. Those are chameleons. Oh, I don't think so.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (20:50)
Thoughts pretty funky.

Awesome.

Like a chameleon?

That's really neat. Is there anything that surprised you about yourselves when you guys have gone on your trips? Like have you learned anything about yourself or you've been like, ⁓ I enjoyed.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (21:07)
Is there anything that surprised you about yourselves?

that I love getting a tan.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (21:18)
It is good answer, I

Coral and Kinsie De Young (21:19)
It's a good answer.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (21:22)
agree. Anything for you, Kinsie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (21:26)
Just like that I overall want to travel the world more and get to see like different cultures and Just like kind of like experience things

Tara (Travel with TMc) (21:41)
Yeah, do you think you'd ever want to go on an exchange or do anything like that? Either of you. An exchange, so an exchange in high school sometimes you have the opportunity to go live in a different country for a semester and you live with a host family and sometimes a student from that family comes to live with you afterwards so that you can learn about each other's cultures and you go to their school and you just live daily life in another country.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (21:45)
What's that?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (22:10)
Would that be something you guys would want to try?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (22:10)

yeah, maybe. ⁓ I think that would be really interesting and cool to do.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (22:21)
Yeah, what about you, Coral?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (22:24)
Do they speak another language in Bora Bora?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (22:28)
You know,

I don't know the answer to that. We should Google that. Not right now, but we'll Google it. Would you want to do an exchange in Bora Bora? Yeah. Go big or go home.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (22:32)
I don't know. Um, yeah. That's what I thinking. Would it be, would

it be like if you do that exchange, would it be free to go fly there?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (22:46)
No, you'd have to pay for the flights, but you guys could use points and miles. I know we've talked to your mama about this, right? And then it's pretty cheap. Yeah. Very cool. Okay. Would you guys want to have an exchange student stay with you, do you think? Yeah. Where would you want the exchange student to come from?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (22:48)
Okay, for the fight to start.

Yep.

Yes.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (23:08)
Like what place would you want to learn about but you get to learn about it while you're at home and somebody's living with you and teaching you about themselves.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (23:16)
Turkey.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (23:18)
Why Turkey?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (23:21)
because the food they eat kind of looks good.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (23:24)
I agree. What about you, Kinsie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (23:27)
I don't know probably somewhere from Europe. Like France and like was the first one that popped up in my mind or like Italy or Greece.

where like probably Italy or France because in like Italy their food like pasta, pizza, that like certain like foods are really like I'd want to try a crepe.

It's just really important to like them and just like Italian I think is just such a cool language and then France because of like the crèpes Coral said and Obviously like the Eiffel Tower and stuff like that

Tara (Travel with TMc) (24:19)
Yeah, very cool. If you, yeah, go ahead.

Ooh, New York City or somewhere in like, foresty New

York State.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (24:31)
like

where the big town city is and I kind of live there when I order because they get a lot of money for just walking dogs

Tara (Travel with TMc) (24:34)
New York City. What makes you interested in New York City?

you

⁓ interesting! That would be a cool job to have in New York City.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (24:56)
I know because I love dogs.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (24:57)
Yeah, you do and you guys have a dog. How did you hear about dog walking in New York City?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (25:03)
I don't know, but you can get like $800 for that.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (25:08)
Sweet. That's fun. Coral's making the money sign.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (25:11)
I think going to New York

would be so cool because I really enjoy going to Toronto because it's such a big city, there's so many things to do, there's easy transportation like with the subway and buses. Is that same as in New York?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (25:30)
Mm-hmm. Yeah, they've got a

subway.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (25:32)
Yeah, and like in New York it's very much like there's a lot of people, it's busy, it's a major city. I'm guessing it's probably easy to go around. There's a lot of events and a lot of things that happen and I just I think it'd be super cool. And they have a really good candy shop there. In New York or in Toronto? Both.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (25:49)
Yeah, buzz.

in New York or in Toronto?

What do you guys like to do when you're in Toronto?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (26:01)
I love to go to that big mall.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (26:03)
⁓ Eaton Centre? Yeah, or Square One, I think. Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (26:05)
Eaton Centre? Yeah, our Square One I think?

Eden Centre. And it has like a ton of floors?

And a lot of my favourite stores are there.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (26:12)
Mm-hmm. Very true.

Yeah. What kind of travel do you think you guys want to try when you're older? There's cruises, there's backpacking, there's adventure travel, there's luxury travel, there's all sorts of different ways that you can travel. How do you think you'd want to travel when you're older?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (26:38)
I wouldn't want to do a cruise because you're in a Titanic. You're in a boat and the boat has, the boat obviously has like events that they do every single night and like fun activities that they probably do but you're just in one place and you like when you're bored you're bored you're limited. Not on that new big one.

and stuff like that. I feel like backpacking would be like for sure so cool. What's backpacking? It's where you keep everything you need like food, your drinks, everything and you put it in a backpack and you travel with the backpack.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (27:17)
Kinsie, do you want to explain what backpacking is?

So are you thinking like more outdoorsy backpacking or are you thinking like hostels and things like that?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (27:32)
Be back.

What are hostels? Hostels, we've talked about hostels. remember you were like, ew! Hostels are like a cheaper version of hotels. They're where a lot of backpackers stay. And you can have anywhere from your private room to yourself to, I've stayed in rooms for like 30

Tara (Travel with TMc) (27:38)
⁓ hostels. We've talked about hostels. remember you were like, ew. Hostels are like a cheaper version of hotels and they're where a lot of backpackers stay. And you can have anywhere from your private room to yourself to I've stayed in rooms with I think 30 people

in them and they're kind of like bunk bed style.

and usually at hostels there's a bar or a community room where you can all gather and meet people from other countries and it's a really great way to meet people and to save money as you're travelling. So that's yeah that's a hostel.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (28:02)
Usually at hostels, there's a bar.

I would probably want to do both. Did you do it before?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (28:20)
Yeah.

Lots. Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (28:24)
What are other ways to travel?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (28:27)
Other ways to travel, so we talked about cruises, you could do adventure travel, you could do travel based on a theme. I know some people, they like to surf in different places around the world, so they centre their travel around an activity that they like.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (28:41)
I would want to

go in that new big cruise with the big water slides It looks like so much fun and you're not bored even one time

Tara (Travel with TMc) (28:45)
Yeah.

Very cool, I'm sensing a theme with waterslides.

I feel like you wouldn't get bored quickly. I think that you'd find something to do.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (28:56)
I feel like you wouldn't get bored quickly. think that you'd find something

to do. Yeah, I know I would. Is there something that you guys do when you're travelling that you don't do when you're at home? Like for me...

Tara (Travel with TMc) (29:01)
Yeah. Is there something that you guys do when you're travelling that you don't do when you're at home? Like for me, for example,

I find when I'm out travelling, I talk to more strangers. Like I talk to strangers anyway at home. I like to talk to anybody. But when I'm abroad, I do that a little bit more. Have you guys done anything different when you're away?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (29:21)
I didn't talk to strangers. feel like we do talk to more strangers especially since like the adults in our family that we go with are very talkative so like when we're waiting in lines or

Tara (Travel with TMc) (29:24)
No, maybe that's an okay idea for you.

Yeah. Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (29:42)
travelling in something. They'll always like our parents will talk to the people beside us and we'll all kind of just run in the conversation and learn new things about them and just in general like where we are and stuff like that. I have a funny one. Okay. Eat more food. Oh for sure.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (30:01)
Yeah. Okay, share it.

⁓ for sure. Do you

eat foods that you wouldn't normally eat at home too, or do you think that you're more adventurous in what you eat when you're away?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (30:12)
I might

eat some things that I ate here but just some things that I eat I like try new That slushy

Tara (Travel with TMc) (30:20)
Yeah, what's the maybe most bizarre or coolest thing you've tried that was different when you were away? Yeah.

Kinsie, what about you?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (30:30)
See what

I meant here.

Or Dunkin Donuts. ⁓ no, Crumble Cookie. Crumble Cookie was so cool. Me and Coral have like dreamed of trying Crumble Cookie and it was just... yeah. I'm so happy to go.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (30:37)
Cool.

What's a crumble cookie?

Is this a company?

Is it a company or a type of cookie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (30:57)
It's a company and It's like only in the USA Yeah, and it's just a cookie brand that sells cookies and really good ones Yeah, I feel like when when we're travelling we don't really try necessarily new foods Same thing different tastes

Tara (Travel with TMc) (30:58)
Okay.

you

Coral and Kinsie De Young (31:21)
Yes, and also like when we went to Florida there was a lot of like franchises and restaurants that we wanted to go to that like

I guess you could say they had some different foods, but it was kind of just like the business itself. We don't have in Canada that we wanted to try and like the US, like Croissant, Dunkin Donuts, we tried Crumble Cookie. When we were in Epcot at Disney, we tried these new good, crèpes. Yeah, crèpes. I love crèpes. I only like those crèpes.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (31:47)
Yeah.

Nice. That's awesome. What did? Yeah, you guys have

also tried some foods that I've brought back from my travels and most recently, most recently, just about two weeks ago, I was in Colombia. Yeah. And I brought you guys back some ants. What did you think of those? You ate a huge ant. And I will say you were totally game for it. Like you didn't even hesitate.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (32:00)
guys have also tried some foods that I brought back from my travels.

Did you eat it? I ate a big ant. was

really crunchy and salty. Aren't they really healthy for you?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (32:25)
Yeah, uh-huh. And salty. It did have some flavour to it, didn't it?

Some bugs are, like there are places in the world where it's really common to eat bugs. Crickets have great protein. Kinsie, do you think you're gonna try the ant? I know I sent a few home with Coral.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (32:35)
There are places in the world where it's really common to eat bugs, like crickets have great plump teeth.

Maybe.

Maybe. I think we might still have it. I think, we do. You're gonna eat it. You should eat it on here.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (32:48)
Maybe.

Yeah. Okay.

I like that idea, Coral. Miss Kinsie, do you want to try the ant on screen? All righty. Coral, while Kinsie's going to find the ant, tell me a little bit more about Bora Bora. Why do you want to go to overwater villas?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (33:03)
Go get the ants.

I really want to be on the water so when I can like I can I can go and Like see the sunsets We threw the ant out Somebody else ate the ant

Tara (Travel with TMc) (33:33)
Yeah, yeah you like being around water don't you?

okay, no worries.

⁓ hot commodity in the house over there.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (33:50)
I guess we all ate the ant but Kinsie.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (33:52)
⁓ Well Kinsie, I've got more next lesson. I can give you some.

I bet it might be hard with the braces now. Okay. No, you don't think so?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (33:58)
She'll love to try it.

No, won't. No, you don't

think so? ⁓ I can chew things normally with braces. I just can't bite anything because my front teeth are sensitive.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (34:13)
Sure, sure. Okay, I've got a couple more questions for you guys. You ready? Okay. What's one thing that you always like travelling with other than your phones?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (34:15)
Okay, I've got a couple more questions for you guys. You ready? Yeah. Okay. What's one thing that you...

Can we say our AirPods? Or can that not be in the suggestion?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (34:29)
sure.

say that if you want.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (34:34)
Actually no.

It's a hard decision.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (34:35)
Like maybe there's a snack, yeah, maybe there's

a snack you like to bring, maybe, I don't know, favourite piece of clothing, maybe, maybe nothing comes to mind, that's okay.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (34:47)
One thing is even if I go to Toronto or something, that's like even though I've been to Toronto multiple times and whenever we go to places I always like to bring a souvenir or something back even if it's like the smallest thing of like I go to Toronto to see a play or something or ⁓

Tara (Travel with TMc) (35:00)
Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (35:09)
we went to like this mini museum where they had a bunch of places in Canada that were like mini versions like there was Toronto, Niagara Falls it's called Little Canada yeah, Little Canada it was so cool you should go try like I recommend it for any ages it's like it's just so cool like there's a CN Tower

Tara (Travel with TMc) (35:17)
Ow.

I've heard of this, you guys got to go.

I should go try.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (35:38)
And it goes dark and light. Like night and day. Yeah and like you can see like the lights turn on and they have Niagara Falls where like the main part of Niagara Falls where like like the

Tara (Travel with TMc) (35:42)
Really? Like a daytime and a nighttime? Cool.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (35:58)
places like I don't know what's what's this ski place in Québec? Mont Tremblant! We saw that there and the sky the skyline for the Blue Jays like shots where the Blue Jays play and open

Tara (Travel with TMc) (36:00)
the shops and things.

Mont Tremblant? Yeah.

Oh the SkyDome!

Coral and Kinsie De Young (36:16)
Yeah, and in the SkyDome every single seat was full with like a small individual person. Yeah, and it was crazy. This is added if you want to but you can like get your picture taken and then they can they can make yourself a model and it costs money though but you can put yourself in the in the thing somewhere you want to be. Yeah, No way! In the SkyDome? Or you can like go anywhere.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (36:22)
No.

No, wait, in the Skydome.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (36:42)
We didn't do it so like we don't know like for sure but you can definitely like print yourself out put yourself in it I don't know if you can recommend where you want to go or they just put you in a random spot. That's really cool. But it was just so cool to see. I loved going to that spot. Oh I'm gonna have to check that out the next time I'm in Toronto. It's so I'll there next month.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (36:55)
That's really cool.

I'm gonna have to check that out the next time I'm in Toronto. I'm there next month. Okay,

awesome. Question for you guys. Have you ever been on a trip with your family and there's like an anthem or a song that keeps on playing or a song that reminds you of a trip that you've been on?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (37:11)
guys.

Um, when we went to Florida, we went to Disney World and we went to Epcot and while we were riding the Guardians of the Galaxy, there was the one song it came on when we were in the Guardians of the Galaxy. It just kept on playing so many times. What song was that again? I don't know. It was like...

Tara (Travel with TMc) (37:45)
you

Can you sing it? Do you remember how it goes?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (37:51)
Oh, do you remember? The 21st night of September. So that song played multiple times throughout that day. And when we were driving, it was on the radio.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (38:05)
Yeah, that's Earth, & Fire, September. Solid song.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (38:09)
Do you remember? And so that song reminds me of when we went to Disney World and... It was such a good song choice. It was. ⁓ my goodness.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (38:22)
Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (38:25)
I want to go back to Disney World so badly. It was actually so cool. rides were so amazing. Like Tron, you went so fast. You loved it. Guardians of the Galaxy, you got whipped backwards and flown and it was dark and it was so cool. Tron is my favourite. It was so much fun. Like we go to Canada's Wonderland and that's where like

big roller coasters are and it's super fun and Canada's Wonderland is just like my favourite spot ever um and literally can't go wrong with Canada's Wonderland you can't um but what made Disney World so different and like also so fun was that food I'm talking about the rides oh sorry um how um

Tara (Travel with TMc) (39:06)
It's true, I agree.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (39:19)
The rides were a whole experience. Like before we went on Guardians of the Galaxy, we turned like... Go ask her for the charger. I'll be right back. We went in this one place, they told us a story and it continued and it was like we were on a mission trying to get something back and...

Tara (Travel with TMc) (39:32)
Okay.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (39:44)
Like every ride you went on, was a build up of a story. You went through like the movie or there was smaller rides. Like when we went to Magic Kingdom, there was like Ariel and like you went through the whole story of Ariel and it was, it's just...

That's like something that I loved was just the whole experience of the actual rides even though some of them weren't thrillers like Canada's Wonderland was it was just so cool and so crazy how they put everything together and how they put so much thought into it. It was just mind-blowing. interactive. when we on Tron, me and Tony we went in the front seat and my hair was whipped back for how fast we went. Oh my goodness is it one of those ones where your face goes

Tara (Travel with TMc) (40:14)
Yeah.

super interactive.

Oh my goodness, is it one of those ones where your face goes like this?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (40:32)
We went on one of those rides where it was like space. It was like It was actually crazy. It made me feel sick after

Tara (Travel with TMc) (40:36)
Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (40:43)
Yeah, it was like we went up in a rocket ship. were leaning back. You could feel the force on your face. You were swinging and you were going and it was crazy. And you had to press buttons and you had to steer. Like you were you pretended like you were a worker on the rocket ship and there was someone that like told you, oh navigator press this. Oh this person press this. It was so. There was an intense and a not so intense. We did the not so intense and then we did the intense.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (40:43)
no.

Wild. Sounds awesome. Well, going back to the question I asked you about the song, I'm actually putting together a travel playlist for everybody who listens to the podcast. And the reason why I asked you about a song from your trip is because I want to include that. So do you think I can put Earth, Wind & Yeah. Okay. So we'll add Earth, Wind & Fire September to the playlist. That's a, that's an awesome song. ⁓ we got it.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (41:22)
I think you should put that song on.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (41:36)
I don't know what's going on with AI. always get these. We had like fireworks going on here before. I don't know how to make them come back. Okay, are you guys ready for the last round of the interview of our chat? Okay, we're gonna do a speed round, which means that you answer in one word or one sentence and each of you can give your own answer for each question, okay? Cool, first question. Where's your next trip?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (41:44)
Okay, are you guys ready for the last round of the interview? Yes. Okay, we're going do a steam round, which means that you answer in one word or one sentence, and each of you can give your own answer for each question, okay? Okay. Cool. First question. Where's your next trip?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (42:06)
It could be somewhere close by.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (42:07)
I

just want to say Colombia.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (42:10)
Do you want to go to Colombia now?

Very cool.

You might not have a next trip planned.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (42:19)
Kai's volleyball!

Tara (Travel with TMc) (42:22)
True.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (42:24)
What is it called? Detroit Detroit Detroit Detroit is your next trip

Tara (Travel with TMc) (42:27)
Detroit! Detroit is your next trip. Okay, so you've been on planes, you've been on road trips,

you've walked places. What is your favourite mode of transportation when you're travelling?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (42:37)
What is your favourite part of transportation?

The subway. I... Yeah, I love the subway!

Tara (Travel with TMc) (42:43)
Same for you, Coral.

What do you guys like about the subway so much?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (42:50)
It's so fun. I don't know. It's just so cool. When I went to Toronto one time with my Nana, oh so nice taking the train. I loved it. It's like you don't feel like carsick and it's so fast. You get there so fast and it's good for the world and it's like like and it's good and and like it's just fast.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (43:12)
Yeah.

Yeah super cool. Kinsie what do you like about the subway or about the GO Train?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (43:19)
Kinsie, what do you like about the subway? Or about the

GO train? They're the same thing, aren't they? No they're not. The subway is the one underground. Oh, guess I took both before? Yep. Whenever we go to Toronto, we always take GO trains. don't... like... it's just... It's hard to explain, I guess. True. I like the fact where it's like...

Tara (Travel with TMc) (43:24)
Little different, Subway's underground.

It's okay.

Very cool, yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (43:47)
You have to like figure out where you're going, which is what I like about travelling, which I like about the subway. I just like being put in a new place and figuring out where you need to go with signs and like with like limitations with your phone and that. Or when, I don't know, like the subway just makes me feel like, I don't know if it's cause it's underground. Like, I don't know, but the subway just makes you feel like some way. Or when we were in Florida.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (44:14)
Yeah, excited, sounds like.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (44:17)
When we were in Florida, these like were skylines and like they were like so much fun. And you could see like everything and you could see like Epcot and like we took them to like we took it to Epcot. We took it to we took it like so many places. Like the first day we got to Disney, we just like had nothing to do. So we just went on the skylines.

Yeah, and it was like skylines that took us to like each park and it was super cool. And like on the outside it was Disney characters. Yeah.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (44:44)
Very cool.

That's awesome. Yeah, go ahead.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (44:55)
Also, I guess like

not a way to travel, but I love escalators. Me too. Like escalators, like if I could just go up and down escalators, I could do it all day. Me too. So much fun. It's so random.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (45:04)
You gotta explain that one.

I love it, you guys are the best.

It is random, you know what, that makes it fun. Alright, would you say you guys are underpackers or overpackers?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (45:25)
I'm an overpacker. mean, I mean kind of both like when I'm going on sleepovers or stuff like I'm like such an underpacker like when I go on like vacate like week trips to my cottage like I mean like I packed the right amount of clothes but like sometimes I pack a couple extra. I'm for sure an overpacker. Not really.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (45:42)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (45:47)
Like every time

you go somewhere Kinsie gotta make sure she got this, this, this. And I just like, I got this, I got this, and I go.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (45:54)
Alright, sounds good. What is something from home that you miss when you're away? Whether you're at the cottage

or you're in Florida or you're away for sports trip, that's something you're so happy to come home to.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (46:06)
My bed. My bed's not comfortable. I'm just sitting on my nice couch. Yeah, just like the fact that like being home also seeing my friends again. Yeah. Going back to school. I'm like school because my friends. I'm glad we've got that recorded. Also just like

Tara (Travel with TMc) (46:09)
Hahaha!

Okay, that makes sense. Alrighty.

Ooh, I'm glad we've got that recorded.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (46:32)
the food i don't mean like what you're eating just like how it's just home food exactly and it's not like you're always eating out it's not like you're eating junk it's like yeah yeah and you guys look like the big two so i'm sure it's nice she mostly does yeah uh-huh do you guys

Tara (Travel with TMc) (46:46)
Yeah, and you guys both like to bake too, so I'm sure it's nice for you to be back in your kitchen. Yeah. Yeah, uh-huh. Do you guys prefer the

window seat or the aisle seat?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (46:56)
Window.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (46:58)
Yeah and what about when you're in the van do you guys prefer middle

or back?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (47:03)
She loves the middle. The only reason why I like the middle is because you can put your seat back.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (47:09)
⁓ that's a good reason. Okay.

Okay, next question, girls. Describe yourselves as a traveller in three words each. So, Coral, how would you?

We're going to try that again because I'll probably get Tony in the background on the recording, okay?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (47:28)
Toni, stop yelling at the TV. The Maple Leaf game is on.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (47:35)
Okay, so the next question for you girls is for each of you to describe yourselves in three words as a traveller.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (47:43)
She can go first.

open-minded would you consider that two or one words?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (47:52)
That's fine. You're good.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (47:54)
Okay. adventurous.

like to eat food that's more three and

Is sunsetty a word? No, how would you experience it? How would you express yourself? Adventurous? I know. Oh. Why don't you say adventurous? You walk too fast.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (48:15)
How do you describe yourself as a traveller? Okay, one sec, Kinsie's got one more. So Kinsie's open-minded, she's adventurous

and hungry? Are we going with hungry or something else?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (48:28)
something else

Excited?

Tara (Travel with TMc) (48:39)
Cool, what about you, Coral? Three words, what are you like as a traveller?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (48:41)
adventurous

exploring

and excited because I'm always excited.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (48:57)
Yeah, I would say enthusiastic. You are.

Both of you guys. Okay. What is, do you guys have a souvenir that you usually like to buy?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (49:09)
Like a design that I could just put on a shelf

Tara (Travel with TMc) (49:16)
Like a souvenir could be something like maybe you love taking a certain photo every time you're away. Maybe you take a jumping photo or you take a family photo or maybe you buy a keychain or I don't know. A sunset photo that's your favourite souvenir? Yeah what about you Kinsie?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (49:27)
sunset photo

Or getting like a bracelet. Ooh, yeah. Like getting any like small thing, like if it's a key chain, if it's a little figure. I like bracelets. Or a sweater. Yes. Honestly, just anything to be honest. Like one of my favourites was I got this Walt Disney sweater.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (49:53)
Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (50:00)
When we also went whitewater rafting, I got a bracelet that had like a wave on it that I wore for very long time. But then the wave broke and I can't go back together. But yeah, just anything to be honest.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (50:11)
Aww.

Okay, cool. Last question for you guys. You ready for this? Already! Do you want to keep on chatting?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (50:20)
The last question. Already?

I'm okay.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (50:26)
I feel like the three of us could chat for forever, but it's the start of a long weekend. I want you to have your long weekend as well. maybe we'll...

Coral and Kinsie De Young (50:30)
We could.

I'm so

happy! Guess what? For me, have Friday off, Monday off, the next week after that I have Wednesday off, the next week after that I have Wednesday and Thursday off.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (50:47)
to be a high school student. That sounds amazing.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (50:49)
That's not fair! I know, I'm actually so

excited!

Tara (Travel with TMc) (50:55)
Okay, yeah, she's only, yeah, exactly. Okay, last question of your podcast interview is what's a piece of advice that you would give to another person your age, another kid your age who might be travelling for the first time? And it could be that they're travelling locally in Ontario or that they're going to a different country. What would you say to them?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (50:55)
You'll get there one day, Coral. Yeah, two years.

Pack stuff so you don't get bored.

home.

Enjoy your time. Yeah, like no matter where you are or what you're doing, just enjoy what you're doing and be grateful. For sure. For sure being grateful. For even for even if you go like two hours away. Yeah.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (51:44)
Wise words, ladies.

Yeah, it's still a treat you can still explore, right?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (51:53)
Exactly. You're like, you're still staying over somewhere. Yeah.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (51:56)
Yeah, still going somewhere

new. Change of scenery. Yeah.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (52:00)
Yeah, for sure

being grateful.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (52:03)
I like that. That's a great answer. Okay, well, thank you Kinsie and Coral for coming on this show. I had so much fun with you guys. Awesome. Is there anything else that you want to tell people about travel before we go away?

Coral and Kinsie De Young (52:10)
Me too!

I love travelling. Even if you don't have that much money that you can spend on travelling, there's still easy ways that you can travel and there's ways that you can make your travelling cheaper and just explore the world as much as you can.

Tara (Travel with TMc) (52:41)
Yeah, I love it. That's a beautiful way to end. I hope you girls have a good long weekend and we'll see you for lessons on Monday. Okay, awesome, take care guys.

Coral and Kinsie De Young (52:55)
Bye!
