Speaker 1:

Come with me while we introduce you on the adventures of Iva's Question Quest. Hello, we are here today at Sanctuary Elementary School with Miss B, who is one of our art teachers. Hello, miss B, thank you for joining me today, hi.

Speaker 2:

Iva my pleasure.

Speaker 1:

So you are an art teacher. Yes, how do you like teaching art and how long have you been an art teacher?

Speaker 2:

I have been an art teacher for six years, but I've been an elementary school teacher for 12 years.

Speaker 1:

Cool what inspired you to become an art teacher.

Speaker 2:

I love being creative and Miss B loves to recycle, so I like to bring that to the kids and some cool art projects. And my first school that I went to was for interior design and architecture, so I have an art background.

Speaker 1:

So you learned about art backgrounds in what was it called Back in college.

Speaker 2:

I went to college for that, and then I went to college for teaching too.

Speaker 1:

So you went to college two times.

Speaker 2:

I did. I have two bachelor's degrees.

Speaker 1:

Whoa.

Speaker 2:

I know.

Speaker 1:

What's a?

Speaker 2:

bachelor degree. A bachelor degree is where you go to school or college for about four years and you study what you want to become as an adult Cool.

Speaker 1:

Did you always want to be?

Speaker 2:

an art teacher. I did. I didn't realize that until I became an art teacher, but I love it.

Speaker 1:

Whoa. What is your favorite thing about an art teacher? And think about an art teacher.

Speaker 2:

I like to see the kids' ideas and be creative in how they all have different projects, even though we have the same materials.

Speaker 1:

Whoa, did you ever teach anything other than art?

Speaker 2:

Yes, I taught first grade for about six years before I switched to art.

Speaker 1:

You used to teach my grade.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I did. What class did you teach?

Speaker 1:

They've since moved on from our school here, so they were all older and I think some of them are at the high school now. Cool. What do you feel is the most important thing about being an art teacher?

Speaker 2:

Letting the kids try new things and try new materials that they might not get at their houses.

Speaker 1:

So you use like things that you get at your houses that some kids don't, so they can use things that they never knew they could use in art.

Speaker 2:

That's right, like sometimes kids aren't familiar with different kinds of paint or pastels or glue guns or things that they can build stuff with.

Speaker 1:

Like I wasn't familiar with those paint sticks.

Speaker 2:

There you go, Perfect. Yeah, that's a new product and we tried them and all the kids really like them now, by the way, my questionators.

Speaker 1:

Those paint sticks are something we used for an art project.

Speaker 2:

They're so fun to use, aren't they, yep?

Speaker 1:

And they're easy and no cleanup Do you love us here at St James Elementary.

Speaker 2:

My favorite part of the day is coming to school and seeing everybody. Yes, love it here. Yes, love it here, so you do. Favorite place Love St James.
