What does it truly mean to be spiritually rooted and stable in today's chaotic world? Drawing from Psalm 1:2-3, this episode explores the powerful metaphor of believers as trees planted by streams of water—firmly established, continuously nourished, and reliably fruitful.

We begin with a heartfelt prayer focusing on what it means to be "well-planted" in God. Rather than partially committed or occasionally connected to our faith, we explore how consistent meditation on Scripture creates spiritual resilience that withstands life's challenges. Just as trees near water sources remain vibrant during drought seasons, believers who regularly engage with God's Word develop an unwavering stability regardless of circumstances.

The prayer addresses the danger of "straddling the fence of righteousness"—having one foot in God's kingdom and another in worldly pursuits. We pray for complete commitment to God's ways, not merely meeting minimum requirements but fully embracing a life centered on biblical principles. This includes fleeing from sin, rejecting worldly influences, and creating space for God's transformative work in our lives.

We also celebrate the privilege of having access to Scripture—recognizing that in some parts of the world, believers cannot freely gather or study God's Word. This perspective fosters renewed appreciation for Bible study and spiritual community. The episode concludes with a reminder that God isn't finished with us yet; if we're still breathing, there's more He wants to do in and through our lives.

Join us in this powerful time of prayer as we seek to become like trees—deeply rooted, consistently nourished, and abundantly fruitful. Subscribe to receive daily inspiration and share with others who might benefit from these moments of spiritual reflection and encouragement.

Welcome and Scripture Reading

Speaker 1

Good morning, welcome to Morning Prayer. Today is September 9th, 2025. The Lord is so good for allowing us to be here this morning morning. Our scripture today is Psalm the first chapter, or the first, not chapter, but the first Psalm. There are no chapters in Psalms, but Psalm 1, verses 2 and 3. And they read but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither. And all that he does. He prospers. Amen.

Speaker 1

And so we are praying this morning that we will be planted in God and that we will be prosperous as that tree. Amen. Thank you, lord, for your loving kindness. Thank you, lord, for your patience with us. God, thank you for your mercy.

Prayer for Being Well-Planted in God

Speaker 1

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Thank you for your help. God, thank you for guiding us, lord. Thank you, lord. Thank you, lord, for your steadfast love. God, thank you, lord. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Your name is exalted here. Your name is exalted. Your name is respected and reverenced here. And God, we ask, lord, that you'll have your way. Holy Spirit, we ask that you'll have your way. Holy Spirit, we ask that you'll have your way. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Oh, we have a prayer agenda this morning, but, holy Spirit, we want you to have your way in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah, oh God, we thank you, god, hallelujah, thank you for this day that you have made. Thank you, lord, for opening our eyes into this day. Thank you, god, for allowing us to lift our voices today and to praise you. Oh God, thank you, lord, for a mind, lord, a mind that was still working. Oh God, oh God, we were in the faculties of our mind to be able to get on the prayer line this morning. And, god, we thank you, god, we exalt you, god, we thank you and we give you the glory and all of the credit. God, oh Lord, it all belongs to you.

Speaker 1

Jesus, oh God, I pray, lord, hallelujah, I pray for you, god, to touch your people today in the name of Jesus, oh God, I thank you, lord. I thank you because, god, we're searching for you. Oh God, we're searching for you. Oh God, we're searching for you, we're looking for you, lord, and we're looking for more of you. Oh God, I pray, lord, hallelujah, that you'll quench us. Oh God, quench our souls. God, in the name of Jesus, I pray that you'll satisfy us in your presence, lord.

Speaker 1

In the name of Jesus, oh God, we pray today, lord. We pray, lord, that you'll look upon us, god, and that you'll help us, lord, to be well planted in you In the name of Jesus, to be well planted in you In the name of Jesus, oh God. You told us, lord, in Psalm 1, hallelujah, that we shall be like a tree planted by the river of water that brings forth its fruit in its season. Oh God, you told us, god, that if we meditate on your word, oh God, you told us that if we were prayerful, god, that you would give us to be as that tree, as that well-watered tree, oh God, as that well-rooted tree. Oh God, you said that we would be a tree, lord, hallelujah, that brings forth fruit in its season. Oh God, help us today, lord, oh Father, if anything about us is not bearing the fruit of righteousness, god, if anything about us, lord, is unstable, god, oh Father, I pray that you'll uproot the thing, lord, uproot the things that are not like you.

Speaker 1

In the name of Jesus, oh God, help us, lord, to take on your characteristics, help us to love your word, help us to study it, oh God, help us to think on it and meditate on it, oh Lord, in the name of Jesus, I pray. Lord, not only will you help us to be lovers of the word, but you'll give us revelation in the word. In the name of Jesus, give us to understand, lord, the text, Lord, and what you're saying to us and how it applies to us and how it can make us stronger, oh God, stronger in you. In the name of Jesus, god, I thank you for speaking to us, god, even in the pages of the book. Lord, for guiding us, lord, even in the pages of the book. God, oh Lord, I'm asking, asking that you'll help us, lord, oh God, help us to pick up your word and to hide it in our hearts, oh God, that we may not sin against you. Help us, god, oh Lord, to look to your word. Lord, oh God for guidance, lord, in a troubled time.

Renouncing Sin and Cleaning the Temple

Speaker 1

In the name of Jesus, Help us not to default, lord, to what the world is doing, oh God, but help us, lord, to look to the word, to see how you would handle situations and how you would have us to behave. Lord, in the name of Jesus, oh God, I thank you. I thank you, lord, for these, your people, god, I thank you, lord, oh God, hallelujah, for helping us, god, to walk in godly counsel. Lord, oh God, I thank you, lord, hallelujah, for helping us, lord, to walk with those. Lord, that walk with you. Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank you, god, for godly friends, oh God, godly companionship.

Speaker 1

God, in the name of Jesus, oh God, in this season, give iron to sharpen iron. Lord, oh God, give us to become stronger in you, in the name of Jesus, oh God. Help us, lord, oh God, to flee from the ways of sin, oh God. Help us, lord, to not delight ourselves in gray areas, lord, to not find ourselves, lord, hallelujah, doing the least we can do to live for you, oh God, but help us to desire, lord, to live our lives as servants, oh God, of the most high God, in the name of Jesus, help us, lord, to do our best, lord, our best for you, god, in the name of Jesus, oh God, help us, lord, to not straddle the fence, oh God, the fence of righteousness, god, with one foot in God and one foot in the world, lord, but, god, I pray that you'll help us, lord, oh God, to become completely sold out, completely convinced, lord, oh God, that following you is what we ought to be doing. Oh God, I thank you. I thank you for helping your people. Oh God, help us, you, I thank you for helping your people. Oh God, help us, help us to do right, oh God, help us, lord, help us to do right, god, in the name of Jesus, oh God, not just right by the world's standards, oh God, but help us to do right according to your standards. In the name of Jesus, give us to not settle, oh God, in trying to be like everybody else, but, god, give us, lord, a heart to be like Jesus. Give us a heart, god, to be like you. In the name of Jesus, help us to not be satisfied, oh God, just doing what everyone else is doing, but, god, help us to seek after what you would be doing and what you would have us to do. In the name of Jesus, oh God, I thank you. I thank you, lord, oh God, for giving us, lord hallelujah, to flee the ways of sin. In the name of Jesus, oh God, help us, lord, in the name of Jesus, we renounce every sinful way. In the name of Jesus, oh, every stronghold, we renounce it. In the name of Jesus, oh God, every foothold of the enemy. We renounce it.

Speaker 1

In the name of Jesus, oh God, oh God, clean the temple, clean the temple, clean our temple, god, oh God, clean the temple, clean the temple, clean our temple, lord, in the name of Jesus, clean our temple, God. Overturn everything that's not like you. In the name of Jesus, god, we thank you, god, for being good sheep, for being sheep that listen for your voice, for being sheep that follow your voice, lord, for being sheep that are not contrary. Lord, oh God, we thank you for helping us, god, oh Lord, to love you, lord, more than the pleasures of the world, more than the pleasures of the flesh. In the name of Jesus, oh God, help us.

Speaker 1

I pray that you'll bless your people, oh God, bless that one that's standing for righteousness and finds themselves standing alone sometime, oh God, bless them, oh God, for their reward in heaven will be great. Oh God, for their reward in your presence will be great. Oh God, I thank you. I thank you for every one of us. God, oh Lord, that has not bent the knee. Oh God, oh Lord, to the things of the world. But, god, I thank you for your people.

Speaker 1

Lord, oh God, I thank you for being sold out for you, oh Lord, oh God, I thank you for being planted in you. Lord, oh God, I pray, I pray that you'll grow your people, oh God, grow us, oh God, in grace, in the name of Jesus, god, that we may be that tree. Oh God, the fruit Lord that nourishes the soul, oh God, the fruit Lord that causes men, women, boys and girls to come to Christ. In the name of Jesus, oh God, if there be anything in us, lord, that is stunted, oh God, anything in us, lord, oh God, that we will not allow you to have your way in God, oh Lord, I pray, I pray that you'll help us to give it over to you. God, oh Lord, help us to be well balanced in you, god, in the name of Jesus. Help us, lord, hallelujah, to go forward in your way.

The Privilege of God's Word

Speaker 1

In the name of Jesus, oh Lord, we thank you, god. We thank you, god, that, even if we've never gone that way before, even if we've never been in that way before, god, that you guide us through, oh God, that you guide us into your presence, that you guide us into your promise, god, we thank you for it. We thank you for it, hallelujah, thank you for helping us to be steady, oh God, oh God. Help us, lord, to not be tossed around by circumstances, oh God, but thank you for helping us to be anchored in the truth of the word, oh God, thank you for the word being our anchor, oh God, thank you for the word being our anchor, oh God. Not just the philosophies that sound good, oh God, the philosophies that tickle the ear, lord, oh God, help us, help us, lord, oh God, to be steady and steadfast and anchored in the truth of the word.

Speaker 1

In the name of Jesus, oh God, when we don't know what the word says about something, God, oh Lord, give us to be diligent about studying it. God, oh Father, bring it out for us. Bring it out for us, god, hallelujah, help us to pull out of your word the way that we ought to live. In the name of Jesus, oh Lord, I thank you, I thank you, god, for giving your people, lord Hallelujah, to return to Bible study. Oh Lord, to return to Bible study, oh God, even the Bible study, lord, that the churches have, lord, oh God, help them, lord, hallelujah, lord, oh God, help them, lord Hallelujah, renew their inquisitiveness about the word, oh Lord, renew their commitment to the word. In the name of Jesus, oh God, hallelujah. Help us, oh God, to find ourselves in the house of God. Oh, help us to find ourselves in the house of God. Oh, help us to find ourselves, lord, taking the opportunity to learn more about you.

Speaker 1

It's a privilege to be able to read your word. It's a privilege to be able to talk about your word. It's a privilege that is sometimes taken for granted, oh God, but we realize in some countries that they cannot meet in your name. We realize, in some countries, the Bible is not produced, is not able to be read, hallelujah. We realize, oh Lord, hallelujah, that it's a privilege to own a copy. We realize that it's a privilege to have the ability to gather together and sharpen, oh God, sharpen, iron, God, and to learn from the word.

Speaker 1

Oh God, thank you, lord. We thank you, god, for the institution of Bible study. We thank you, god, for opening up and giving revelation in those settings. God, in the name of Jesus, we thank you. We thank you, god. Give us to reverence your word again, in the name of Jesus, give us to respect your word. God, oh God, oh God. The foundations of the world were founded on your word. Oh Lord, hallelujah.

Speaker 1

We never get too big for your word, hallelujah. We never know too much to study your word, oh God. Oh God, we never come to a place where we know it all, but, god, you yet speak. We thank you, lord, for even opening up our understanding to the text in different ways. Lord, opening up our understanding to the text in different ways, lord, oh God. The last time we looked at it we might have taken one thing out of it. But, god, give us to hear your voice afresh in the name of Jesus, when we pick it up.

Applying Scripture in Spiritual Battles

Speaker 1

Lord, in the name of Jesus, help us, lord, to apply the word in our spiritual battles, oh God, the things that are going on in our spirits, the battlefield of our minds, lord, oh God. The battlefield in our homes, god, at our workplaces, oh God, the battlefield in our schools. Help us, lord, to apply the word, to apply the word even as you did in the desert against the enemy when he came, lord, to tempt you. Help us, god, to be so full of the word that we're able, lord, to tell the enemy, oh, that we will not be deceived, that we will not bow down, hallelujah, because we know what thus saith the Lord. We know that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Oh God, we thank you that your word is life-giving. Oh God, we thank you that your word is life-giving. We thank you that your word is life-giving, oh God, give life, lord, give life to our homes, give life to our marriages. Oh God, give life, lord, to our bodies. Father, in the name of Jesus, oh God, your word, lord, give life in our minds. In the name of Jesus, your word preserve us, oh God, your word guide us. In the name of Jesus, oh God, I pray, I pray, lord, that your people will be covered under the blood of Jesus today, oh God, I thank you, I thank you Lord, oh God, for having them, oh God, from every direction, for covering them in every direction.

Speaker 1

God, in the name of Jesus, oh God, help us to take comfort, lord, in the fact that you are with us. In the name of Jesus, I thank you, lord, for giving us, lord, to walk with you today. In the name of Jesus, we bind every spirit of condemnation. Oh the would've, should've, could'ves, oh the would've. We should be further, we should be furthering God. We ought to know more. Oh God, I thank you and I bind condemnation in the name of Jesus.

Speaker 1

Oh God, yesterday is gone, but, god, today is a new day. Oh God, today you've extended new mercies. Oh God, help us to take those new mercies today and to walk, oh God, to the best of our ability today, to walk in the strength of Jesus. Oh God, help us to lay aside, oh God, every weight of sin that so easily besets us. God, give us to run this race today. Give us to run this race today, god, give us the strength, oh God, give us the perseverance today, oh God, to run today's race in the name of Jesus, to run it with patience, oh God, to run it, oh God, and not grow in your strength. In the name of Jesus, oh God, I pray.

Speaker 1

And we're going to look at our devotional today. Our devotional title is Planted and Flourishing. Planted and flourishing. Planted and flourishing. Based on Psalm the first Psalm, verses 2 and 3. It reminds us that when we delight in God's word, we grow strong and steady like a tree by living water, no matter the season. His word sustains and grows us. Take a deep breath, stay rooted. He's not done with you. Amen, hallelujah. We thank the Lord for the devotional. You can find the entirety of the devotional on our Facebook and on our Instagram pages. Amen, and it is there for you Monday through Friday. Amen you that God is not done with you, not done with you yet. If you're yet living and breathing, he's not done with you yet. Hallelujah, there's still so much in store for you. Amen, god bless you.
