The struggle against sin isn't just about willpower—it's about understanding our new identity in Christ. When we truly grasp what it means to be "dead to sin and alive to God," everything changes.

This powerful prayer session dives deep into Romans 6:11-13, exploring how believers can break free from the bondage of sin and present themselves to God as instruments of righteousness. Through passionate intercession, we confront the specific struggles many face: unhealthy relationships, sexual temptation, addiction, gossip, financial mismanagement, and the persistent voice of condemnation that whispers we're beyond redemption.

What makes this prayer particularly transformative is its raw honesty about the battle. We acknowledge that yesterday's failures don't define today's possibilities. God's mercies are renewed every morning, offering fresh strength to overcome. The prayer reminds us that holiness isn't achieved through striving but through surrender—allowing God to fight for us and with us against the enemy's schemes.

Perhaps you've tried breaking free from sin's grip through your own efforts and failed repeatedly. This prayer session offers a different approach: presenting yourself to God as one "brought from death to life." When we truly surrender our struggles to Him, we discover that holiness isn't just a calling—it's a daily decision made possible through His faithful presence.

Morning Scripture from Romans 6

Speaker 1

Good morning and welcome to Morning Prayer. Today is September 10th 2025. Our scripture for today is Romans, the 6th chapter, verses 11-13 in the English Standard Version of the Bible. In the English Standard Version of the Bible it reads so you must also consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin. Therefore, reign in your mortal body to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. Amen, and our prayer today is that God will give us to grow in holiness. Amen, to grow in holiness. And we're going to go before the Lord this morning. Go before the Lord this morning.

Speaker 1

Father, your name is reverenced and exalted here. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Lord, reign here, reign and rule here. Holy Spirit, reign here, rule here In the name of Jesus.

Speaker 1

Hallelujah, have free course in this time of prayer. In the name of Jesus. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. We extol you, god, we extol you. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Your name, oh God, is great. Hallelujah, hallelujah, we bless your name. Hallelujah, hallelujah, we bless your name, hallelujah, oh God. As we come into your presence.

Speaker 1

We ask, lord, that you'll help us to have a grateful heart this morning. Help us to be thankful in the name of Jesus, in spite of all that might be happening, in spite of what might be going wrong and what might be going right. God, we pray that you'll help us to be thankful in the name of Jesus. Oh Father, we thank you, lord, because you have given us this day, you have given us this time and this moment. You have given us this time and this moment, and we thank you, god. We thank you, father, oh God. The very fact, lord, that we are breathing this morning lets us know that you are not done with us. Lets us know that there is hope, oh God, and a future, oh God. It lets us know, hallelujah, that there is a greater purpose for us and, god, we thank you, god, we thank you that our sins have not disqualified us. God, we thank you that our mess-ups have not disqualified us. But, lord, we thank you, we thank you that you have extended your mercy. Lord, you've extended your mercy, oh God. You've extended your mercy and we thank you for it. God, hallelujah, we thank you for it, oh God.

Speaker 1

I pray this morning that you'll give us, lord, oh God, I pray this morning that you'll give us Lord, oh God, to seek after the things of God, oh Father, give us a heart, lord, for the things that please you, oh God. Give us to delight, lord, in the things that exalt you. Give us to exalt you, oh God, in everything that we do. Give us to exalt you, oh God, in everything that we do. Oh God, we pray that you'll get the glory out of our lives in the name of Jesus, oh God. You get the glory out of our lives in the name of Jesus, oh Father. We thank you, lord, oh God, forgiving us to grow in holiness. God, oh Lord, helping us, lord, oh God, for giving us to grow in holiness, god, oh Lord, helping us, lord, oh God, to deny the flesh. Helping us, god, to deny the things of this world, oh Father, that are displeasing to you, oh God, the things of this world that pull us away from you. God, we thank you for giving us the strength to deny those things. Father, in the name of Jesus, oh God, help us to be dead to sin. Father, in the name of Jesus, oh God, the things that were strongholds to us in the past, god, the things that used to entice us, oh God, the things, lord, that used to challenge our self-control. Oh God, help us to become dead to it, god, in the name of Jesus.

Speaker 1

Oh God, the enemy tries his tricks and his schemes to pull us back in, to pull us out of your presence, to pull us out into bondage. Oh God, I pray. I pray, lord, that you'll sever every tie, oh God, every tie to sin, oh God, from our past. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, some are struggling to get away from relationships, to come out of relationships that they know mean them no good, that they know are detrimental to their spiritual life. Oh God, I pray that you'll break every soul tie. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, destroy the yoke of bondage. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, cause the thing to no longer bring us pleasure.

In the name of Jesus. Oh God, this we recall to our minds. Oh God, therefore, we have hope that it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed. His compassions fail us not, but they are renewed every morning.

Devotional on Daily Holiness

Speaker 1

In spite of what happened yesterday, in spite of what may have happened a couple of hours ago last night, we thank God, hallelujah, that he is faithful. He's faithful to forgive us, he's faithful to wash us of our sins and he's faithful to give us strength. Amen, hallelujah, hallelujah. They used to say when I was coming up that God will keep you. If you want to be kept, he'll help us, he'll send help to us even in our moment of weakness. If we decide, hallelujah, to take the exit, he'll give us a door. We just have to walk through it. Hallelujah.

Speaker 1

We thank the Lord for this time of prayer this morning, and our devotional thought this morning is coming from Romans 6, verses 11-13. And those verses remind us that holiness isn't just a calling. It's a daily decision. We're no longer slaves to sin. Let's choose to live like we belong to Jesus, set apart, surrendered and growing. Amen. And that is the description of our devotional for today. You can find the rest of our devotional Growing in Holiness on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Amen. You can find it at HealingWord C-O-G-I-C. Amen. God bless you.

Speaker 1
