Free to Serve: Embracing Humility in a Self-Centered World

What does true freedom in Christ actually look like? Through our exploration of Galatians 5:13-14, we discover a profound truth that challenges our cultural understanding of liberty. While the world promotes freedom as the right to do whatever pleases us, Scripture reveals that genuine freedom carries a divine purpose - to serve others humbly in love.
Our prayer session delves into the counter-cultural nature of Christian service. We examine how Jesus modeled servant leadership throughout His ministry, most powerfully when He washed His disciples' feet. This act demonstrated that Kingdom greatness operates by different rules than worldly success. We're called not to seek recognition or accolades, but to serve faithfully even when our contributions remain unseen by human eyes.
The conversation takes a powerful turn as we acknowledge those serving behind the scenes - the church doorkeepers, ushers, cleaners, and countless others whose ministries rarely receive pulpit recognition. "Their service matters," we declare, affirming that God sees these acts of devotion when others might overlook them. For those feeling discouraged in thankless service, we find encouragement in knowing that work done without human applause still receives divine approval.
We also explore the principle that "where God guides, He provides." Many believers postpone ministry involvement until life circumstances improve, but often it's in the midst of serving others that God addresses our own needs. The prayer extends to unsaved loved ones, youth ministry, and struggling churches, reminding us that our faithful service creates ripple effects beyond what we can see.
The devotional concludes with a simple yet profound question that cuts to the heart of Christian living: "Who can you bless today?" This invitation challenges us to move beyond theological understanding into practical application, finding true freedom not in being served, but in serving others with Christ's love.

Morning Prayer Introduction
SPEAKER_00Good morning and welcome to morning prayer. Today is September 26, 2025. We're thanking the Lord for bringing us to another Friday. Amen. And our scripture for today is Galatians the fifth chapter, verses thirteen and fourteen. This is found in the New International Version of the Bible. You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free, but do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh. Rather, serve one another humbly in love, for the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command. Love your neighbor as yourself. Galatians 5, 13 and 14. Amen. And our prayer this morning is that God will allow us the humility and the humbleness to serve one another. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus. Oh, have your way here today. Have your way here today. In the name of Jesus. Oh Father, we look to you, Lord. We look to you, God. We look to you, Lord. Hallelujah. We look to you. We look to you, Lord. Holy Spirit, have your way. Have your way. Have your way. Have your way. Have your way. In the name of Jesus. Oh direct us as we're praying today. In the name of Jesus. Give us discernment in the name of Jesus. Oh Father, we're asking this morning for your help. Father, we're asking this morning for your strength. Lord, as we follow you, oh God, help us to have the strength to break away from what society says is normal and what society says we ought to do. Help us, Lord, to walk as light in this earth, God. Help us to walk as the salt of the earth in the name of Jesus. Oh God, help us to be comfortable, God, and being the new creation that you have designed us to be in the name of Jesus. Oh God, you've designed us, Lord, to not be proud, but to be humble. Oh God, you've designed us, God, to give you glory and to not take glory for ourselves. Oh God, you have designed us, Lord, to be meek. Oh, you've designed us, God, hallelujah, to walk in the way of Christ. Oh God, we're praying this morning for the strength, Lord. The strength, God, to reject not only what culture has to say, but what the flesh has to say. In the name of Jesus. Oh Father, we pray that you'll help us, God. Help us to overcome pride. Help us to overcome pride. Give us the victory over pride. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, everything that keeps us, Lord, from serving you in the manner that the Word of God has given us. Oh God, give us strength to overcome it. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, I pray, Lord, that you'll help us. Help us, Lord, to desire to be servants, God, and to serve one another. Oh God, what you showed us, Lord, as Jesus walked the earth. You showed us Him serving time and time again. Oh God, even all the way down to the washing of the feet of the disciples. Oh God, Jesus counted himself as a servant. He counted himself, hallelujah, as being there in ministry to serve mankind and not his own popularity and not his own needs. But God, I pray that you'll help us, Lord, to take on the mentality of Christ, Lord, and to serve in the name of Jesus. Oh God, give us strength to serve, Lord, in our local churches. Oh God, whatever the talent and the gifting is that you've given to us. God, show us how to give it back to you. Oh God, without grudging, oh God, without complaint, God, help us, Lord, show us how to give our talents back to you. Oh Lord, how to work with our local churches. Lord, that your glory may be revealed, Lord, through what it is that you put in us. Oh God, all that we are is because of you. And in that all that we are belongs to you. Oh God, wherever we have found ourselves to be excellent or wherever we excel, oh God, show us how to use it for your glory and for the edification of the body of Christ. Show us how to serve with it in the name of Jesus. Oh Lord, we thank you, Lord. We thank you, God, that the role of the servant is not the role of the doormat. Oh God, but the role of the servant is the role in ministry of helps, God. Oh God, help us, Lord, to be helpful, Lord, to be of assistance, God, in the things that you have blessed us to do in the name of Jesus. Oh God, I pray, I pray for those, Lord, that are serving, those that are moving in the vein of serving. Oh God, be it in teaching, be it in helping, oh God, with distribution at churches, whatever it may be, whatever it may be, I pray that you strengthen them in the name of Jesus. Oh God, strengthen those that are serving to keep serving. Oh God, it is a thankless job sometimes to serve. Oh God, we don't always get a thank you. Oh God, we don't always get a pat on the back. We don't always get recognition. But God help us to be okay. Help us to be okay, knowing that, Lord, what you see us doing quietly and in secret, that you were rewarded openly, God. Oh God, you'll openly bless us for the things that others overlook, Lord. Oh God, you'll openly bless us, God, for the things that we do, oh God, and the things that we say as we serve and upbuild the body of Christ. Oh God, I thank you. I thank you, El Roe, the God that sees you don't miss a thing. You don't miss a thing. And we thank you that you don't miss a thing. Oh God, I thank you that you'll bless these, these servants today, Lord. Oh God, to keep serving, to keep pressing. Oh God, to keep giving the best that they have in the name of Jesus. Oh God, whatever and how much ever it is, Lord. Oh God, give them the strength, Lord, to continue to be able to put it out there, Lord. Oh God, because, oh God, oh their service matters. Lord, their service matters. Oh God, that one that is the dorman at the church, the one that ushers, God, the one that cleans, Lord. Oh God, the one that does the things that are not in the pulpit. Oh God, give them to know that their service is seen by you and that it matters. Oh God. Oh God, our work is not in vain. Oh God, we thank you that our work is not in vain. We thank you that our living is not in vain. Oh God, but there is a crown. There is a crown in glory that awaits those that do as you say for us to do. Oh God, there is a crown in glory waiting for those. Hallelujah that deny their flesh and pick up their cross and follow after you, God. Oh Lord, I thank you today. Give us the strength to serve and even serve one another. Oh God, help us, Lord, to not just sit up and wait for others to serve us, God. But Lord, show us where we can be of help and serve others in the name of Jesus. Oh God, whatever it may be, whether it's attached to the local church or attached to the community, whether it's attached to the nation or if it's international, whatever you have given our hearts and our hands to do, oh God, we thank you today that we're moving forward and we're serving in the capacity that you have given us a heart to serve in the name of Jesus. Oh God, I thank you now. I thank you now. I thank you now. Oh God, some may be waiting for things in their lives, oh God, to come together so that they can serve. They may be waiting for certain circumstances to stabilize. But God, I thank you. I thank you that as we go, as we move, oh God, in your spirit, as we do what you're telling us to do, Lord, that you also take care of our business. You take care of what's going on in our lives, God. Oh God, you take care of it, Lord. And we thank you, Lord, that where you guide, you provide. Oh God, we thank you, Lord. Hallelujah, Lord, that you take care of our issues, God, as we do what it is that you're commanding us to do. Oh God, I pray that you'll give your people to take heart today, to take heart and be encouraged, to be encouraged. Hallelujah. Their work is not in vain. Oh God, I pray, Lord, I pray for every household represented here on this line. I pray for every household that is under the sound of my voice. I pray even now. And I cancel the assignment of the enemy that comes against these, your people, that comes against these families, that comes against these ministries. I canceled the assignment of the enemy. The blood of Jesus prevails this morning. Oh God. The blood of Jesus prevails this morning. Oh God, we thank you for victory. We thank you for victory in the name of Jesus. Oh, we declare this morning that every need is met and supplied. Oh God, we declare this morning, hallelujah, that fallow ground is being broken up under the sound of my voice. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, we thank you today, Lord, for your blood that was shed on Calvary. We thank you, Lord, that it has not lost its power. We thank you, Lord, oh God, that the name of our God, the name of the Lord is yet a strong power, and the righteous run into it and they are safe. Oh God, we're safe in your arms. Oh God, we're saved by grace. Oh God, we thank you, Lord. We thank you, God. Oh God, that the power is not ours, but the power belongs to you. We thank you, Lord, because if the power belonged to us, it would be inconsistent because we get tired and we wear out, God. But Lord, we thank you that you are almighty and that you have all power and your power doesn't wane. Oh God, it doesn't ebb and flow. But God, we thank you because it's ever flowing, that it's ever strong, that it's ever consistent. Oh God, give us to tap in this morning, to tap into you, God, to tap into what the Holy Spirit is empowering us to do today. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, I pray, Lord, that you'll strengthen your people. Strengthen your people, God, to be the examples, Lord, in the earth that you want us to be. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, even to how we act on social media. Oh God, even to what we're looking at. Oh God, in our websites and in our browsers. Oh God, help us. Help us, Lord, to be holy, God. Oh, to be holy, Lord, and all that we do and all that we say in the secret things and in the public things. Help us to be holy in the name of Jesus. Oh God, your word says, be holy, for I am holy. We serve a holy God. Help us to strive for holiness. Help us to strive to be set apart, God, in the name of Jesus. Oh God, we pray, Lord, that you'll bring in, oh God, our family members that are unsaved. Oh God, bring in our loved ones that are unsaved in the mighty name of Jesus. Oh God, they have a soul that needs to be saved. And we place it before the altar, oh God. And God, we ask that you'll save them. We ask that you'll change their minds where they've become rigid, where they have decided that they do not want more of God. Help them, God. Oh God, change their minds. In the mighty name of Jesus. Oh God, you're a mind regulator. You're a mind regulator. Oh God, we pray that you'll give them the desire to be saved. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, even our children. Oh God, even our grandchildren. Oh Lord, give them Lord to search for righteousness, to search for salvation. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, let their salvation even be. Hallelujah. Oh God, the fruit of our sacrifice and the fruit of our service. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, we thank you, Lord. We declare, hallelujah, that salvation doesn't just end with us. Oh God, but that our family, our friends will be saved. Oh God, our neighbors will be saved. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, I pray, Lord, that you'll help us, God, to continue, Lord, to be a good example. To continue, Lord, to be a good example. To continue to be a good example. Oh God, if we tainted our witness in any way, oh God, I pray that you'll help us, Lord, to redeem our witness. That our testimony not be tainted in their presence. Oh God. That our testimony, hallelujah, speak volumes about your greatness instead of our failures. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, we thank you. God, we thank you. Oh God, we're going into the weekend by your grace. And God, I'm asking, Lord, that you'll meet us in the church house. I pray, Lord, that you'll meet us, God. That you'll meet us, God. Ayarabatsaya. Send an outpouring of the Spirit of the Living God. Send the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Send the outpour of the Holy Spirit that your word promised us. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, let your spirit flow like living waters in our ministries. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, let the word come forth with power and conviction. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, may souls be saved. May lives be changed. Oh God, may the body of Christ be strengthened. Oh God, may ministry continue to go forward. Oh God, touch that ministry that's struggling to keep the doors open. I thank you, God, that you take care of your house. I thank you, God, that you send everything that it needs. Oh God, I thank you, Lord. I thank you, Lord, for keeping the doors open, for keeping the word of God being spread, even from that pulpit, even from that place. Oh God, I thank you today in the name of Jesus. Oh God, we are trusting in you. Oh God, we are leaning on you. Oh God, we are believing on you. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, bring the youth into the churches, God. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, bring them into ministry, God. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, help them not to just stand on the outskirts, God. But God, I pray that you'll give them to become involved. Oh God, I pray that you'll give them, oh God, to begin to seek you for themselves, God. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, you can save. And not only can you save, God, you can keep, Lord. And so God, we ask that you'll save and keep the youth, God. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, give our ministries. Oh God, to have vibrant youth ministry in the name of Jesus, knowing that they are the church of tomorrow. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, I'm asking that you will do it. I'm asking that you will do it. God, Lord, I'm praying, God. I pray even now that you'll cover your people under your blood and keep them in all of their ways. In the name of Jesus. Oh God, in our coming ins and going out, I pray that you'll keep us in the name of Jesus. God, I'm asking, Lord. I'm asking, Father, for a visitation. Oh God, that your presence visits your people. Oh God, your presence visit those that are not feeling well. Oh God, your presence visit that one that feels like giving up. Oh God, I thank you for your presence. Visiting that one that's been faithful. Oh God, I thank you for your presence. Visiting that one that is down and out. Oh Lord, I pray for a visitation and that you'll bless us and grace us with your presence. Give us to bask in your presence, Father. That is my desire and my prayer. Oh God, I ask all of these things in Jesus' mighty name. Thank God and amen. Amen. We thank the Lord. We thank the Lord for prayer. We thank the Lord for what He's doing in your lives and the lives of His people. Hallelujah. God is working miracles. He's doing marvelous and great things whereof we are glad. Alright, and so we're going to go into the description of our devotional. Galatians 5, 13, and 14 in the NIV reads, You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free, but do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh. Rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command. Love your neighbor as yourself. Real freedom isn't about doing what we want, it's about loving like Jesus. Let's serve with humility, grace, and joy. Who can you bless today? Amen. Who can you bless today? The entirety of our devotional can be found on our Facebook page and our Instagram page at Healing WordC-O-G-I-C. I thank you all, those prayer warriors that hang in there with me. I thank God for each one of you, even those that pray for me and pray my strength. I thank God without your prayers. I don't know where I would be. Right? I don't know if I'd be able to continue doing this work. But I thank God for your prayers and keeping me before the Lord. Amen. I'm asking that you'll continue to do so. Keep praying for me. Hallelujah. And I will continue to do my best to yield to what it is God wants us to do here. Amen. Going into the weekend, we will not have prayer on Saturday and Sunday. We return here on Monday morning, and we'll be here at 6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Okay? I give a shout out to Pastor Mark Bayman, the pastor of Healing Word Ministries, and to the Healing Word family. God bless each and every one of you. Those that are listening now on the live, and those that will be listening in the podcast. I pray that not only do you have a blessed and amazing day, but I pray that God keep you down through the weekend and that we return here at the appointed time. God bless you. Have a beautiful day and an excellent weekend.
