Hello, beautiful souls. Welcome back to Reclaim Your Inner Rockstar. Where we dive deeply into healing, growth, and reclaiming your power. I am Amy Robinson, your aroma psychologist and cognitive and passion promoting coach, and today we're gonna get real about something. I know so many of you are struggling with.
Decision fatigue isn't just feeling tired because you've been making decisions all day. It's that mental exhaustion, that heaviness that shows up when you're constantly having to make choices big and small. And if you're someone who's experienced trauma, this can be even more challenging because the constant need to be hyper aware and on guard drains your energy.
And it makes decision making feel impossible. But here's the thing, lovely. There's hope. Today we're gonna dive into how you can manage and even overcome your decision fatigue using simple, effective strategies that align with your healing journey. So let's get into understanding what decision fatigue is.
Decision fatigue. Is that mental exhaustion from making way too many decisions throughout the day? Did you know that on average, each of us makes over 35,000 decisions a day, and most of them are on the subconscious or even unconscious level? That means that we aren't fully aware of the decisions that we're making.
So can you imagine that weight of exhaustion that carries us? And it doesn't matter whether the decision is big, like choosing the right therapist or it's small, like picking what to wear. When you're constantly in a state of having to choose your mental energy will get drained. Think of it like a battery, slowly losing its charge.
Now for those of you who are healing from trauma, decision fatigue can be especially taxing because when your nerve central nervous system is already on overdrive trying to process the world in a safe way, every single decision feels like a mountain to climb. The simplest choices can feel so overwhelming because your mind is already working so hard.
Just to keep you feeling secure. Here's what I want you to do and recognize acknowledging that decision fatigue exists can be such a powerful force for you, because now you can do something about it. So what are some ways in which you can cope and thrive? The first step is simplify your day. And it's not talking about a complete overhaul of your life, it's talking about creating intentional routines that reduce your number of decisions that you have to make.
And one way of simplifying your life and your day is creating a morning routine that is. Ritualized When your day starts with intention, whether it's a breathing exercise paired with a calm oil like lavender or cedarwood, or journaling your thoughts, you're grounding yourself.
You're starting your day with clarity, not chaos. Another powerful tool is prioritization. Not every decision needs to be made in the moment. Break down your day and focus on the decisions that truly matter to you. Give yourself permission to delay what doesn't need your immediate attention. And of course, we can't forget about the power of aroma psychology.
Okay. Using essential oils like rosemary or cedarwood can help enhance your focus and mental clarity. Are you having a challenge with emotional blocks that may be hindering your decision making? I encourage you to use fennel, fennel, unblocks your emotional pathways, and helps your mind start to flow more freely.
So that you can be able to make wise good decisions for yourself while holding onto mental clarity. You can diffuse these oils while working, or you can put a drop on a cotton ball and put it in a tent form with your hands and breathe deeply. Inhaling taking those, that energy in and exhaling. Until you feel that your decision making fog can go away.
Another thing to do is set boundaries with your energy. Sometimes we get so caught up in just saying yes to everything that drains ourselves. Being mindful of your own needs and protecting your energy is not selfish. It's necessary. And finally consider creating a decision making journal. This is something I encourage my clients to do, especially when they're feeling overwhelmed.
Overwhelmed is the body's way of saying, I have too many decisions to make all at once, and I don't know how to simplify that process. So write down the choices that you're struggling with. List the pros and the cons of each choice, and allow yourself space and time to come back to them later when you're feeling more centered.
Remember, a decision doesn't always have to be made in that immediate moment. The simple task of writing things down often makes the answers feel much more clear, and that's the goal, isn't it? So I want you to really pay attention, beautiful soul, and help you understand that decision fatigue is real. And if you're feeling overwhelmed by it, you are not alone and know you're not failing.
You're simply navigating a healing journey that requires you to honor your energy and your needs. Take a deep breath with me. Let's have a few moments together here, and I want you to inhale deeply like this,
and now breathe out
and do it again one more time
and breathe out.
And as you do, I want you to ask yourself, what am I feeling in my body? I want you to be aware of any areas of tension that you may have in your body and put your energy to that to try to relax it. Allow yourself to be present in that moment and remember. You have the power to simplify and reclaim your energy.
