S2 Episode 22 | Better get it right with God. In this episode Leon discusses the sin of King David, and the lack of calls to repentence by the Church

Um and really the the meat and potatoes are in these uh longer um videos, on in the full videos. And so the more attention we can bring to these, the better that this ministry is going to do, the more people we can reach. And uh, and that's the whole thing. That's that's why I'm doing it is to encourage somebody to keep on going, to encourage somebody to take Jesus at face value and say, Lord, show me just how real you are, because that's what we need. I was talking to a gentleman the other day, a really good friend of mine, uh close friend of mine, and uh who is not saved, and he was talking about how on the fence he was on faith and and what he believed and didn't believe and didn't understand and whatever. And you may be that person who who's also like that, who man, I believe in something, I don't know what, I don't know, you know, I don't I don't know. I know that there has to be a God or I, you know, whatever. You might be an atheist. I th honestly think it takes more faith to be an atheist than it does to be a Christian. Because honestly, um all the legwork's done in the Bible, and for those who've never read the Bible, you you can't argue with that um because you're arguing out of ignorance and and with zero basis. But for the person who has read the Bible and has read the Bible and and understood the Bible and comprehended you know what they were reading, because all those are different in in their own aspects. But if you've read the Bible and and you look at that Bible and you say, Man, this is what it says, and you understand what you're reading, and it shows you know how creation is and was, and how um, you know, what what the fibers of our of our body, the DNA and and all that, and what and what that data that is embedded in us, what it says, what it means, and you look at life, um, it is obvious we are created. And uh there have been so many um just awesome physicists and uh scientists and and incredibly smart people who have studied creation and have determined that there's no other way than for it to be intelligently designed and created. Well, then um then you get the camp of people who just take whatever they read or hear and and they've never really sat down and and tried to understand what they're reading in the Bible or pointed to the analytical side of it. All they do is is see what kind of uh what somebody says who's secular and and has read other people's arguments and and things like that, and that's that's how they draw and defend their conclusions, um, then you you would have no um no proper frame of reference to um you know to say one way or the other. That was a fancy way of saying get your facts right and read that Bible, and then you'll know. Um I there was a uh gentleman and uh I I won't say his name just because I don't want to break any kind of copyright things, but uh his first name's Michio, and um very intelligent guy. And he's he he was one of them people that everybody had on their shows on uh discovery and history and all that back when they used to play like documentaries and everything, and he was a um a renowned um guy that they had on that. They've even had him on several news agencies and everything on um some of the things that um uh you know when it has to do with astrophysicists and um and then you know the other types of science and and all that. But he he was on there and he was talking about how he believed in intelligent design and it blew people who I was watching, it blew them away. They're like, whoa, like like you're a scientist, and you know, like you lose credibility because you believe in creationism. Well, here's the thing. If science, and it is, if if science is the search for truth by asking questions, by um creating uh or seeing a problem and developing a hypothesis and then start testing against all that in order to find the truth, then you are not going at this with a predetermined notion on which way, or a bias, if you will. You are you do not search for the truth with a bias in your heart. That is not science. That is that is everything against science. This is stuff you learn in grade school. Uh, if you weren't, you need to go um, you know, study this because it's it's important to understand the scientific theory. In fact, you find the scientific theory uh or the scientific process in the Bible, um, where where folks um developed a hypothesis and then tested against it and then found the truth. And so, anyways, I I've I've known some geneticists who uh who did the cancer research and stuff like that, who are Christian folk and and would you know have a way deeper defense to uh creationism than you know than you you or I could dream up because they're just they're there. They study it on the genome, you know, genome level. And uh it it's it's fascinating talking to these people and and getting a um just kind of a pea-brained approach into these um into these conversations. And in my um very limited mental you know capacity, I'm able to have a conversation with these people and it just blows my mind. Um that was seven minutes of get your facts right. Understand that this Bible means something and understand that that folks need to hear about the Bible. They need to hear that this is not a separation between you're either on the science camp or the religion camp. Um, there is no camp but God's camp. And if you are anywhere against God, then you're effectively taking your life in your own hands and you're saying, if you don't believe in God, then you're trying to make yourself God. And that can't be. It's very destructive. Men and women have tried to do that since the beginning of time and have always failed. But here's the opportunity you have to get it right, and to just reach out to Jesus. That's what I told my friend the other day. Reach out to him, call him, text on him. Whatever you're it's the same thing. Prayer is us texting, calling God. A text can sound like, Lord, I need your help. But a call is a prayer. Father, I don't know how weak my faith is in comparison to everyone else, but I know how weak it feels, and I need your help. Or Father, I need help believing. Would you make yourself known to me? Would you show me how real you are? Because I I need something. And I told him, I said, buddy, if you pray that you better believe it. I said, because I'm praying that for you. But if you pray it, you better believe it. And and you better understand that you're you're saying this to the creator of the universe and and he will show you. I said, but uh you you don't know what that looks like. I know what it looked like for me, and um you know I don't know what it'll look like for you. And he said, I don't know if I'm ready to pray that. I said, Well, that's the start of faith, that if you pray, you're believing that there's going to be a result, that the Lord hears you, and there's gonna be a result. So that's a bud of of faith that is is already there because he's he's like, I don't know if I'm ready. In the off chance, believing, if effectively believing, there's a good chance I'm gonna get this prayer answered. And so if if you catch the gravity in that, um, you know, that blessed my heart to be a part of that conversation and to hear this man with that shred of faith saying, I don't know if I really want this prayer to be answered, so I don't know if I want to pray it because I I think that there's a chance it could be answered. Um, you know, that blessed my heart to to hear him say that. But anyways, today I preached on uh David and uh how he sent Uriah into into battle um to effectively get killed and took off with Bathsheba and um you know after he had already gotten her pregnant while Uriah's at war and and all that, and and then trying to cover it up and everything, and then finally saying, Hey, I'm just gonna send Uriah straight to the front yard or line into the heat of battle and and get him killed that way I can have this woman as my wife. And uh and I preached on that today, and it's a tough message because you know there's a whole lot of challenge to that, and there's a whole lot of gravity of, you know, and and it really shows that the human condition has never changed, that we've always been the same. We're just self-serving, self-righteous, and um, you know, we've always it's always got to be about us. And and that's you know, completely against everything that especially Jesus, you know, was showing us as the example. And and Jesus is that humble servant, he's a servant leader, and and and that um leadership of of Jesus would say that no, you be humble and you shouldn't have even looked on this woman. And then when you did look upon this woman, you should have immediately looked away, repented of that. Lord, get that thought out of my mind and and and forgive me and help me to and strengthen me to be able to not do that again, and which is something we all need to pray about. Like we all have a sin that or a temptation that is knocking at our door um way more often than we like to realize or like to admit. And we have to uh Paul put it like this put that thought into subjection, take it captive. If we don't take it captive, if we don't make a conscious effort to protect ourselves against sin, then we're no different than anyone else. And the Bible calls it incontinent. That's without self-control. I should I should have control over my body, over my mind. And if I don't, then I've got to work that out. Because an unbridled um body, you're no different than a zombie. You know, if if you're not gonna take control over your actions, you're no different than a zombie. And guess what? We make fun of people, and I'm saying we as in people make fun of people, not that I do it, but you you see these videos of these people in um in Pennsylvania who are on or in LA and and all these other big cities who are like zonked out on um on these drugs and everything, and they're walking around like zombies, and they that all they're doing is just they're just existing, they're not even living, and you think you're any different because your sin looks different than their sin? When you can't keep yourself out of that, and you're you're zonked out in your sin. And and we act like we're different than these people because their sin looks different? Like how arrogant is that? And uh and Jesus, you know, he he made a good point. You know, he was talking about forgiving your brother, and if you have any hatred in your heart towards your brother, and you and any contempt in your heart for your brother, that you you've effectively murdered him in your mind and and in your heart. If you look at a woman with lust in your heart, then you've committed it in your heart. You committed adultery in your heart. And um, you know, Paul points out that if you've committed one sin, you're guilty of all the sins. And this is the cliff notes of my sermon today, which was a very rough sermon to preach, and you know, and it's not easy to hear because you know, that's no one wants to hear that, but that's the problem in in Christian America, is preachers aren't preaching against sin. There's very few that preach against sin. Most just want to want you to have some kind of fuzzy wuzzy uh rainbow unicorn, you know, sermon and and feel good and and you know all that, and God's gonna provide for you everything you want, kind of thing. And and that's not real life. That's not Christian walk. And this this sermon was a call to repentance. And my question is to the preachers out there, it might be one or three of you who watch or listen, maybe even this far. When was the last time you did a call to repentance? When's the last time you you told people, hey, you know, sin is bad, and here's what sin looks like. We'll do a whole lot of like judgmental, you know, this, that, or the other thing, talking about, you know, what kind of suit you wear, or you know, preachers not preaching in suits or having long hair or mustache or tattoos or whatever. We'll talk about hats backwards, shorts on, and flip-flops, but we won't talk about sin. Like that just winds me up. Like we got bigger fish to fry. We got people dying and going to hell, and you're worried about whether a preacher's wearing a tie or a jacket, and and that is just crazy to me. And I'm talking crazy. That is crazy to me. Like you you're worried about you know, the drama going on in church. I'm worried about people getting saved. We're not the same. We we got church folks who haven't gotten saved because they still think that mama and daddy who bought that pew or paid for a light fixture or or a bottle winter, you know, that those people are are saved because they grew up in church. Oh, I was going to church before I was born. Well, that don't mean nothing. If you haven't if you haven't yielded to the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus, I don't know. Have you called upon the name of the Lord? Have you have you recognized that you're a sinner? Have you asked him to forgive you? Have you told him you believe in him? Have you confessed him as your savior? Like where are we at? The church is no longer the church. We're social clubs and and a social experiment at best. We're a place to hear uh, you know, we we got motivational speakers and and and stuff like that and and and no preaching. And God chose the foolishness of preaching so that we could share the gospel and and that we could call each other to repentance and and that we could edify each other and challenge each other and and and grow. Grow the fold. And here we are, like we're we're mixing up other stuff. We're we're taking it way too deep. We got too much going on, too much drama. We got a lot of fluff, but we don't have the steak and potatoes that we're supposed to have. I say steak and tigers, but that's what we need. We have filled the gaps with a cream cheese instead of a foam or or concrete. We are not sealing the problem. We're making it worse. And we've got to come to uh an end to that. Churches are closing and I'm thankful that there's a few that I can see that are growing. I'm seeing others that used to have you know, knocking on a hundred kids to maybe having twenty and and and others uh have uh used to have hundreds of people and and or fifty or sixty people and and they have five and uh you know, and and other churches that used to run eight, six to eight hundred people and and they're running like twenty, thirty. And it's like, man, you know, where's where are we at? Like what are we doing? And then, you know, there's there's several we're hearing about them, you know, preachers stepping down and and churches closing the doors and and and stopping having like um midweek sermons and and Sunday night services and and stuff like that to, you know, we we can we can't do all that. And there's one that's like they have they have a Bible study at somewhere else, but not at the church, and then they have Sunday morning and that's it. And they can barely afford to keep the lights on. Where is the church? Well, I'll tell you, we've lost our purpose. We're supposed to be sharing the gospel, we're supposed to be spreading the gospel, we're supposed to be preaching the gospel, we're supposed to be edifying each other, challenging each other, correcting each other, rebuking each other, reproving each other. I'm supposed to be reaching people for the lost, or reaching the lost for for Christ, and and and reaching people to to draw into the fold and and and you know to help them understand how to secure their their eternal life and and and bring them to Jesus. And and here we are, like we're having conversations about, hey, you know, we want to have this type of committee, or we got to vote on this committee, or we got to vote on this, or we're just gonna install a preacher, or we're gonna excommunicate this preacher, or we're gonna, you know, uh, we're gonna fuss about VBS or we're gonna fuss about uh some type of committee or some type of meeting and stuff like that. We're not gonna put money where it's gonna help people, instead, we're gonna put money where we can entertain people and and and and all this other, and and we're we've lost the whole sight of Jesus is supposed to be right in the middle of this thing. I ask it all the time when someone talks about, you know, oh, where's this, that, and the other thing, or we need to do this, we need to do that. Not my question is where's the Holy Ghost on this? Because is this a you know, hey, we want to do something, or is this you know, because we feel led in the direction of doing this? And where where and in all of this is the Lord getting praise and glory? Because where's the Great Commission and where's the Lord getting glory? Because if he's not getting glory and there's no great commission being fulfilled, then what are we doing? And that's the question every church has to ask. And if you're not, then I pray that you get it together because there ain't a whole lot of time left. You can look around and see that. Anyways, I love you. God loves you.
