Welcome to the Daily Beacon!

We're here each day to bring you the latest updates, ideas, and actions to empower you to engage in your community and country in positive, productive ways. Today, we'll be focusing on stories that highlight the need for resistance, non-violence, and collective action.  First up, let's talk about the Trump administration's ongoing efforts to undermine public health. In Uganda, a 4-year-old boy has just died of Ebola as the US pulls back on its aid. This is a stark reminder of the consequences of inaction when it comes to global health crises. We need to hold our elected officials accountable for their decisions and demand that they prioritize the well-being of all people, not just the wealthy few.  In Texas, a measles outbreak has highlighted the dangers of vaccine hesitancy. But this is not just a public health issue - it's also a question of personal freedom and responsibility. As individuals, we have the power to make choices about our own health and the health of those around us. We need to support organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) that are working tirelessly to combat infectious diseases.  But it's not just about individual actions - we also need to think about systemic change. The Trump administration's policies on immigration are a prime example of how our government can be used to perpetuate inequality and injustice. We need to reach out to organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) that are fighting for the rights of marginalized communities.  In the world of technology, Elon Musk's recent tweets have sparked a heated debate about the ethics of AI development. As we move forward in this field, we need to consider the potential consequences of our actions. We should be supporting organizations like the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) that are working to ensure that AI is developed and used for the benefit of all people.  But what about the environmental impact of Musk's Tesla empire? The production and disposal of electric vehicles can have significant environmental costs. We need to be critical of companies like Tesla and hold them accountable for their actions. Organizations like the Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) are working to promote sustainable energy solutions and reduce pollution.  And finally, let's talk about government firings and court cases. The Trump administration has been involved in several high-profile firings and lawsuits that raise serious concerns about the rule of law. We need to support organizations like the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Knight First Amendment Institute that are fighting to protect our constitutional rights.  So what can you do today? Here are a few actions we recommend:  Contact your elected officials and express your concerns about the Trump administration's policies on public health, immigration, and the environment. Support organizations like the CDC, WHO, ACLU, NILC, EFF, Sierra Club, NRDC, ABA, and Knight First Amendment Institute that are working to promote positive change in our country. Consider joining a local advocacy group or community organization that aligns with your values. Educate yourself on issues related to AI development, environmental sustainability, and social justice.  Remember, every action counts, and together we can create a more just and equitable society. We'll be back tomorrow with more updates and ideas for you to engage in your community and country.
