Speaker 2:Hello everyone. I am co-host and producer, nicole Monchine, and I am right here in the studio with Jorge Fiscal, owner of Custom Copper, and Zane. Jorge, how are you doing today?
Speaker 3:Well, Nicole, I'm doing well. Thanks for having me.
Speaker 2:We're excited to have you. It looks like a beautiful day where you're at, and I know you've built a remarkable following. But for some listeners who might not know a little bit more about you, let's go ahead and kick things off from the very beginning. Tell us a little bit more about you how you got introduced into craftsmanship and how you got started with custom copper and zinc.
Speaker 3:All right. Well, it all started like it's going to be 25 years next month since I got introduced to architectural sheet metal practicing traditional seaming techniques. As soon as I got into learning that, I realized that the quality is far superior from what we were doing, which was basically on the commercial side of things. There is no comparison for something that can last a lifetime.
Speaker 2:And what made you want to start Custom Comfort Zeke.
Speaker 3:I was just impressed, amazed with seeing that there is a better way of doing things and giving that quality to people. In my opinion, there was no comparison and I just fell in love with the system, different techniques, and it was this hunting for information for different situations to offer the client a much better product.
Speaker 2:We love that. Well, we know you're a busy person, we know you have your nine to five, but what are some of your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun?
Speaker 3:Well, it's up to the kids. My child, she likes to play badminton. We go and explore with my son as well. He's 20. My daughter is 12. So sometimes we get to go and explore all of the parks around North Carolina. We have beautiful trails, we go bike riding and basically try to go have a bunch of picnics as much as we can in beautiful days like this.
Speaker 2:Are there any go-to parks that are your family's favorites?
Speaker 3:It all depends on the season. Like I said, we don't have a favorite. We are on the hunt for exploring more and more and every time we see we do have an actual favorite, there's always something and all of them. We are very lucky to have a variety of activities that the hunt never ends, you know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Like you said, we are really lucky right here in the Research Triangle. We're close to the beach, mountains, and right here in our own backyard we have so many amazing greenways and parks, and we're really lucky here just to be surrounded by nature. So sounds like you're a busy family man, that's for sure.
Speaker 3:So while we try to, lately I've been trying to balance that work and personal life and it's quite fulfilling. You know, we get to have fun for work, but also when the weekend comes, not everything is work and family is the most important. We try to stay connected.
Speaker 2:Well, we know marketing is key to every business. So how do you like to market custom copper and zinc?
Speaker 3:Well, this is something new. I know that the digital era. I have to catch up with it. I have not been very good at it. Everything that we've been doing it's been word of mouth. That's how we started doing things in historic Oakwood doing repairs, and from then on, I guess we are doing something right and we are trying to be as transparent and truthful of the options that the client has. As far as some small repair or some big improvement. We take one client at a time. What we do is we basically try to offer quality instead of quantity.
Speaker 2:I definitely agree with that. We love quality over quantity, for sure, and we know you're a busy man, so why are you doing?
Speaker 3:this. We like what we do for work, but at the same time we see a lot of options and we try to offer the best suitable situation for the client. Sometimes they call us for a new house, a new project starting from zero, and we help design the system. A lot of the times it could be a repair where they have done certain, they have worked, but there's always I see always room for improvement. Sometimes they already designed. The architects designed something. They call us and I appreciate that because we are able to put our heads together and work with something to offer the very best to the clients.
Speaker 2:And what's your favorite thing about what you do?
Speaker 3:The favorite thing. You know, it's one of those things that every day it's something different. We have to become very creative, sometimes getting ideas, and our work is never boring. We get to install metal but, like I said, there is, in my opinion, there is always a better approach, a better solution, and it's never boring. I think we love that, and if it's your passion, then you're never bored boring.
Speaker 2:I think we love that, and if it's bigger passion, then you're never bored going to work, so we love that. Well, Jorge, thank you so much for joining us. Next episode we're going to talk about frequently asked questions and we're going to dive deeper into what you do, okay.
