And unfortunately, I don't have any stats, but but you will get the benefit of mine and Micah's professional breakdown of the game.

Dexter Next And Season Expectations
SPEAKER_03We next week's on the actual 84th episode, we will have our first part talking about Friday night's upcoming game against the Dexter Bearcats. Who How do I want to say I didn't watch any of it, but I know they I know they got beat about the same score that we beat Park Hills, roughly by St. Jan.
SPEAKER_00I don't know how good St. Jan is this year. Don't know. I don't I know that I think Dexter's gonna be okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they'll be they'll be good.
SPEAKER_00It'll be uh, you know, we one win doesn't If it was three weeks down the road and we we'd heard a couple more games, we'd probably be.
SPEAKER_03That's it. We well we're this, you know, Jackson is probably good enough where they can overlook some teams and and we're not there yet. No, no. We are I you and I've talked about it, Micah, for years. Or not years, two years. This is third Coach May's third year, correct?
SPEAKER_00Third year, third year.
SPEAKER_03We even said last year the the results weren't exactly what Coach May wanted or what we wanted, or as fans, what we what we hope for, I guess. Not what we wanted, what what what you want the kids to to have, but we saw a better product on the field. We saw it.
SPEAKER_00We've even last year.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's what I'm yeah, exactly. You could see our trend going up. Now, this one game, if we're one and nine, it's not gonna be a good season, right?
SPEAKER_00Same thing that you know, like we don't know. Like last year we blew out Crystal City, you know. We did. And we don't know. I mean, I'd be honest with you, Park Hills looked big on tape.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I've talked to some folks in the know, and I'll just leave it at that. That okay. Let me all the things we're gonna preface today, Jackson, Farmington, and maybe Cape are the outliers. So we're gonna certainly Jackson. When I say this what I was told was this gonna be one of the best lines we faced all year, the offensive lines. Let's take Jack We're taking Jackson out of that. We're gonna preface these comments. Jackson's the outlier. Okay. Farmington's gonna be really good, and Cape's gonna be good. I think Cape, we have a chance to really compete and maybe win that. I'm I'm not I'm not we're Micah and I are not we're not experts. We're not experts, we're not prognosticators.
SPEAKER_00I could tell you, I've watched a lot of football. This team looks really better. Yes, I mean way better.
SPEAKER_03Yes, we're yes, we are much improved even over last year.
SPEAKER_00Do you think we're looking at a state championship? No. No, no, but I do think we can compete for a district.
SPEAKER_03I I agree with you. I I mean our goal, frankly, I I'm sure Coach May, I haven't talked to him recently. Uh it's not true.
SPEAKER_00I texted him yesterday and the district did come out yesterday Friday.
SPEAKER_03Yes, and I think it's the same. It's the same group. Festus, I would say, probably has the I'd say I'd say that you're not gonna do that. Okay, sorry about that quick interlude there. I inadvertently hit the dang cord. So with that being said, Festus is the I would say they are the leader in the clubhouse kind of thing, or they're they're the favorite, I should say, to win our district. I think the goal a conservative goal, I think, would be to get to 500, right? So that would mean we'd have to go at least five and four to go into the playoffs, because there's nine games and the tenth game is the first round of playoffs.
SPEAKER_00We'll be in, but I mean, like like you you're in, but I mean, I would love to see a couple wins in district. Correct. Because I think it takes three games to win district. It does.
SPEAKER_03I would love to host a first round game. Yeah. So Farmington and Jackson, you don't ever want a moral victory, right? That's not what that's not what we we want to compete with them. I think maybe removing those three games, I I think we have a chance against Cape from just I again. I didn't see Cape. I don't know who they played.
SPEAKER_00I watched a little highlights on the news, but that's about it.
SPEAKER_03I know they got a really good running back, so they probably got a really good line. And again, that's why I was saying preface those comments with removing those three, those three teams as the outliers. I think
Park Hills Game Film Breakdown
SPEAKER_03the other games, I think we have a chance to win. How about that?
SPEAKER_00I think so too.
SPEAKER_03And again, we are not to the point But we gotta play on. We gotta play, not overlooking anybody. I know the coaching staff's not overlooking anybody, and I don't think the kids are as well.
SPEAKER_00I think I've seen a different attitude like last night. I mean, like we're there's a couple times where we made some mistakes, yeah, and we didn't give up and we overcame some of those.
SPEAKER_03We got behind the sticks two or three times and still converted a f I mean we got first and twenty or second and sixteen or some you know odd, not odd, but uh behind the chains, behind the sticks, and so we still still got the first down. It's funny, I was watching that game too, Micah. They made a couple uh three or four fourth down stands.
SPEAKER_00They did, they did, they did.
SPEAKER_03And one of them was uh fourth and probably a yard or less.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the next him in a backfield.
SPEAKER_03They did. And so defense looked really good. They looked terrific. Listen, I thought I thought Jace, first year, he's a senior, first year as a starting quarterback, I thought he managed the game very well.
SPEAKER_00Well, he went the first half without an incompletion.
SPEAKER_03Right. Shout out to Lane Meyer. Man, what a big time plays. A couple of third down plays. They threw it up, and Lane just, I know Lane, know him from basketball, he's an athletic kid. He can jump. He's oh, six foot, six one, six two, somewhere around in there. Really nice kid. Works hard, doesn't ever say anything, but man, he went up and high-pointed a couple of those passes. I was thinking, holy crap, who is that? Because I was watching it on that Misha thing, and it's hard to watch. It was hard to watch, and you and I were talking about it. Heck, half the thing, it looked like it had double vision on there.
SPEAKER_00I don't know how that huddle camera works. I don't know if there's like two cameras missing together, because yeah, especially like when it got down toward the end zones. The 30 to the 20 yard line when the end zone it it was like you'd have four fullbacks.
SPEAKER_03I thought it was just me at first, and I was like squinting.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, what the heck is that?
SPEAKER_03Well, I put it on the TV and I was like, Yeah, well, and just again, I'm not being critical. I'm glad we got to watch it, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But you couldn't couldn't hear a whole lot. There was no commentators, obviously, or anything like that, but I was glad we got to watch it.
SPEAKER_00You hear the PA every now and then.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. A shout out to again when I stand up with Jace. Really nice play at the end of the first half, great call. They put Lane out to the split him out left on the goal or inside the five. I can't remember where it was specifically. It was literally the last play of the first half. And we put him out there. Matter of fact, they called timeout. Park Hills called a timeout to kind of reset up for that. So they sent Lane then to back toward his right, back toward the field. Center of the field. All of a sudden, Christian Gibson runs a drag route kind of behind all that, and he was wide open. He threw a high pass, but I'm sure it was designed that way. Christian went up and caught it and high pointed that thing and brought it down.
SPEAKER_00The only person could have caught that ball was him. That was it. Same thing with Lane. Because he had three or four steps on the defender. Correct.
SPEAKER_03I mean Correct. And what a great play call. And again, not just a great play call, great execution. The line had to block, give him time to throw, let Christian get across work across the field.
SPEAKER_00I I think that's one of the bigger differences this year. I think we may not be as deep like second and third string. Yeah. But I do we have enough numbers to play offensive line and defensive line.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Coach May, if you did you see the article you and I were talking about.
SPEAKER_00I read a little bit, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He talked about we got really good numbers. He said the first year we had 40 some odd players, now we're in the 60s. Not as deep as we want. And so he was talking about protecting them, meaning trying to give them breaks and and stuff like that. But our our our first group is really, really solid. I'm not knocking kids below them. I mean, we're just they're they're they're younger. Just not ready. Yeah, they're just right, exactly. Not saying they won't ever be it just at at this today after the first week or going into the room.
SPEAKER_00They'll play tomorrow night and see where we're at.
SPEAKER_03That's correct. They'll play J Oh, will that be home against Park Hills? I think it's home.
SPEAKER_00I got it pulled up. Hold on.
SPEAKER_03Okay, check that out. And while we're talking about football, real quick, we'll we'll I want to make a quick episode excerpt. Shout out to the Bulldog Soccer team. They're two and oh, two wins over at the Carbondale, I think it's Carbondale Invitational is what they're calling them.
SPEAKER_00JV is home tomorrow night at five.
SPEAKER_03Against Park Hills. Okay. So listen, you still want to watch some Bulldog football, go out and check them out at five o'clock. Go out and watch the JV team, and you'll see some upcoming kids getting reps, right? That that's what that's for. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I had a kid this morning tell me that he thought he he played four quarters the other night, but he said he thinks he could play two tomorrow night.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I assume that's like basketball. He can steal like six quarters or something. I I don't know the rules on that.
SPEAKER_00He said that he thought he could play two. Okay. And he thought he had played he played on defense line a little bit Friday night, and then or not a little bit, he played the whole game. I mean, yeah. Like one of those backups. And then he said that uh he thinks he'll probably play on the offensive line tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Listen, more some some and maybe it's more the families, I shouldn't say, but some and even sometimes some of the software. Okay, sometimes some of the kids go, Oh man, I'm playing J V. No. Do it.
SPEAKER_00And I'm and I'm if you go back a couple years ago, Peyton Howard. Yes. He played he played more minutes. Him and Clark both played J V, but he played more minutes than anybody in the whole entire school system, yeah, in basketball.
SPEAKER_03Maybe ever. Yes. Don't look at it as a negative. The coaches see something in you and they want you to get some reps on the field game game speed reps. Yes. That's how you play. Exactly. Don't and if you're a parent, oh, he ought to be starting, he ought to be dealing. No, this is a positive. Don't take it like it's a negative that they're playing JV. That's how you get better.
SPEAKER_00Well, an example of that was Jurt last year. Yeah. I mean, Dirt played a lot of defense. He he showed some glimpses of being really athletic. Um he played both ways the other night most of the game.
SPEAKER_03And was an absolute tank on both sides.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yes. On both sides.
SPEAKER_03I mean, he was terrific. And let's just say it, our offensive line looks like.
SPEAKER_00But he wasn't ready for that last year.
SPEAKER_03Correct. Our offensive line I thought just whipped their their defensive line.
SPEAKER_00We we we we didn't go as big as we m maybe as what we maybe could be. We took some very talented athletic kids and made linemen out of them. I mean, and they're getting playing time instead of being a fourth or fifth stream running back that they probably would have never cracked the field. Right. I mean, like some of them are linemen. Don't get me wrong, they're we still have good size on the line. I mean, uh but I mean like it's it those kids probably changed from where they originally wanted to play, you know. I mean I I well I know of one specifically.
SPEAKER_03I don't yeah, not gonna yeah, but yeah, no, I won't I know one but anyway, it was a great win. I I I didn't see right coming right out of the second half, and I texted you and I said what happened, how they score, and they ran some some trickeration.
SPEAKER_00I mean they were lining linemen up out in the w on Robert Sewer spot and gimmicks. And then you you gotta know who's eligible and all that, you know, it it just I mean, like it was they changed where we were looking. We were looking at size, probably instead of in the backfield and watching, you know, I mean, yeah, that's it distract us a little bit. We made some adjustments and and played. I mean, they hit a couple decent passes, I mean, like big ones.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You do that sometimes. I'm not suggesting necessarily this case, but sometimes teams that are a little bit inferior have to go to some gimmicks, right? To try to win and shout out to them.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they're they're well that tells you how well of a coach team they were. They went out and they made some adjustments. Not to say it was gimmick, I mean, like it just it changed where like I said, on our defense. Our defense is very disciplined, normally. I mean, like it had been to that point. Yes. Well, they threw something at them that they hadn't seen and they didn't know where to look. Correct. And and you know, if you're playing defense, you want to play fast. You know, I mean, like that's you'll hear that a lot if you if you listen to a lot of coaching stuff uh on defense, you want you you don't want a lot of reads. No, sure. Because you play faster. Right. Just like basketball. I mean, like, I mean, like you'll you want to be faster on defense.
SPEAKER_03Right. Yes. As I've heard Coach Hylefield say, you defense, you want to be one step ahead and offense, one step slow. Not not slow, but you want to be able to you got to make some reads on offense, right? You're you're absolutely correct. Same thing, same principle applies in football. I thought our I thought our defense again looked phenomenal. We had kids flying to the ball, hats, several hats to the ball all night.
SPEAKER_00We were pushing people to places. I mean, we not I haven't I'll be honest with you, like through the jamboree and this, I haven't seen too many get the outside on us.
SPEAKER_03Mm-mm. We imposed our will.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like, and then Friday when our line, our defensive line needed to stay up, they did. Matter of fact, defensive line is why we had those short yard stops, the fourth and whatever.
SPEAKER_03They couldn't get any push on that front line again of ours, and then our backers.
SPEAKER_00Part of that speed, part of that strength.
SPEAKER_03Strength, you know what I mean? Yep. They were we we were thought we were terrific, and it's it's a great way to start one and oh.
SPEAKER_00I this is a better win than Crystal City last.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes. Again, not taking away anything from that. Yes, this was a better win against a not in Crystal City. A better a 3A Yes, quality.
SPEAKER_00Listen, they're they're competing for districts every year.
SPEAKER_03Two or three years from winning a state title. I mean, yeah, state title. Three years removed. So this is not like this is some patsy somewhere. Because I remember when Coach May told us last year we I was thinking, holy crap, why would we start out with them? And so they're a perennial. You're you're exactly right. They are really, really good. And so uh great win.
District Goals And SEMO Win Chase
SPEAKER_03I I think this year, I think we have a chance to win that elusive CMO conference. I know sorry, get a win in the CMO conference, excuse me, not win the CMO conference. I'm I mean we'd love to. Yes, but we have a chance to get you know, we hadn't had a CMO conference win in like 2018 or 2019 or something like that.
SPEAKER_00It's been about eight, nine years, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And so, you know, we could we didn't shoulda, woulda, coulda, beat Bluff last year, but we didn't.
SPEAKER_00I I We win that game this year. Yeah. I mean, if we played the same game last year with the team we got now, we win that game.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes. I think again, if we can get the 500, I think we've had a successful year.
SPEAKER_00I think that's I think that's very doable. Yes. I do. I'll be honest with you, anything less than that is the disappointment.
SPEAKER_03I would say, I I would say this year, kind of the way this team looks, I'm not saying we're gonna not gonna go undefeated. I'm not I'm not I'm not we got some tough teams.
SPEAKER_00Well, I mean we got the whole conference is tough.
SPEAKER_03It is, and I hate the way this stacks up. I wish we played Jackson week three at home, first home game, then we go play Cape. I wish they weren't back to back. It just is what it is, and we have to play through it. It's not the It's not the greatest setup, but it is what it is, right? We we just gotta plan. There's no excuses.
SPEAKER_00It's a pretty decent schedule, isn't it? It is, it is the front end's heavier. I mean, like we got Farmington towards I mean, I think that's after I think it's in October.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. Late September.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's you know, can we be October because Miller Career is the last.
SPEAKER_03That's right. That's right, Miller Career. You know, I th there's some games that are winnable. I'm not gonna just say we're gonna win them. We can't just show up if kids are listening, or you know, I know the coaches are not overlooking not the first person. But don't there's one quote that I that I thought I really liked that Coach May said the wins mean more because the kids have put in the work and paid the price, I think is what he called.
SPEAKER_00He said that on the radio a little bit, I think, for sure.
SPEAKER_03They've paid the price, and so it means a lot more when you win, and it hurts a lot more when you lose, right? Right. And I'm not going back and not being critical. I'm just saying this is where they are right now. And these and he said these kids have paid the price.
SPEAKER_00The biggest thing I see, I mean, like the the kids have always been kind of athletic. They're stronger.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I saw a video on social media, and I think it was I can't remember who it was. They were showing some bench presses. They were impressive. Who was that? Somebody benched three forty five twice. Oh my. Yeah. But the Patterson kid? Patterson. Yeah, that's exactly who it was.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, you well, you can see the huge difference in he's been athletic, but man, uh the you could tell he's been in the gym.

SPEAKER_03He has. He has. We mentioned and we'll move on just a minute. Listen, great start to the season. 1-0. We go to Dexter. Listen, when you listen to this, Dexter's a short drive. Mike and I'll be there. Doesn't mean anything necessarily. Then we're telling you we're going to be there. I mean, we that's our plan.
SPEAKER_00I will tell you, Dexter will be there.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Dexter, I I I The last couple years, man, that's been when we've gone over there.
SPEAKER_00You gotta find a seat.
SPEAKER_03You do. I would say get there early.
SPEAKER_00It's all on one side.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's the thing. I thought we competed with them last year, and again, we talked about it just a couple of plays here and there, and I thought it could have been a different game. I thought that set not set us back in the I think w we had them where we could have beat them, and I think that I think we could have got over if we had held on to them another two quarters.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. We could have probably changed our mindset and probably matured a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, that's that's that's that's what that's the only thing I could think of.
SPEAKER_03In their defense, they were senior laden, they made the plays when they needed to, and they beat us.
SPEAKER_00And we were we were a ton of sophomores, I told you. Yeah, this defense is juniors now.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, that's exactly right. Tons of experience.
SPEAKER_00And they've been playing since they were freshmen.
SPEAKER_03Correct, correct. And and Coach May mentioned that in the article, too. We had kids playing defense now for three years. So I think we've got a chance to win that game. I just leave it at that. That's my opinion.
SPEAKER_00We're getting closer to I I hate to draw the comparison to basketball, but you know, last year we had a very lot of seniors on the basketball team, but we had some younger classmen that were with our depth. Uh-huh. That's where we got to be at with football. That's where we're getting.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Correct.
SPEAKER_00We're getting there.
SPEAKER_03Correct. And we mentioned soccer 2-0. Shout out to the girls' tennis team. They were you said I think you said three
Other Bulldog Sports And Weekly Slate
SPEAKER_03and one and finished second at the Cape Uh tournament. That's great.
SPEAKER_00You know I don't think golf has started yet.
SPEAKER_03I don't I don't think the girls st have started yet.
SPEAKER_00As volleyball, I didn't see any volleyball scores either.
SPEAKER_03All I saw was a Jamboree score, Micah. I haven't seen any or just a Jamboree highlights. I haven't seen anything regarding that.
SPEAKER_00Also Looks like they played Bernie on We did or we do.
SPEAKER_03We do. Okay.
SPEAKER_00On that would be September the 1st. It's Tuesday night.
SPEAKER_03It's Tuesday night. Yep. Bernie's usually pretty good. I don't I think it's a good thing. Um and then I know one game, the girls' softball team lost seven to two at Sekman, but I and I think I mentioned this the other day and on our early spot with for this week's episode with Mike Mike Jensen. I mentioned that we've got several young girls on there that are going to be really, really good, but they're freshmen now. It's going to be very similar. I I think we're going to compete more or a little better this year with the softball team. And I think we'll I think these girls are are growing. I think we're going to have a really, really good softball team, maybe even as soon as next year. And and we may surprise some people this year. I I I don't know specifically. Lily Grace. And I know he said they lost seven to two to Sekman. That was her that was her first.
SPEAKER_00So it looks like this week, coming week. We got JV game tomorrow night for football. On the first, we have a tennis match against Jackson. Here or there. Away. Okay. We got Bernie away from volleyball. Uh-huh. Naylor softball away on Tuesday at 4 30 over there. Okay. Golf will play Bog my eyes, I'm not. Bowry Creek Quad. Bogey Creek. Bogey Creek quad, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's that's in Farmington.
SPEAKER_00And that's on Tuesday it says to be determined. Or to be uh the time to be determined.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then Wednesday we got soccer, Marion at home. Okay. And then we got tennis on Wednesday too, North County at home. Okay. S volleyball at Cape Central on Wednesday.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_00And then I guess the the St. Jan quad is on Wednesday as well for golf. And then Thursday, Dexter tennis away. Twin Rivers softball home. So I guess our first home game game, yep. Will be Thursday and then Friday. We got Dexter here. No. No, Dexter there, I'm sorry. Yeah, at Dexter football. My eyes are. And then um the Webster Grove scramble away on Friday for the girls. Golf. Golf, yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Wow. They got three matches this week.
SPEAKER_00And then September the 5th, which is Saturday, right? Soccer plays West Plains at home here.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow. Okay. And then it's Labor Day weekend.
SPEAKER_00Yep. And then the Carvando tournament for volleyball. So it's over there. So that's this week's sports, according to Misha website calendar for Sykster.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And then, oh, one thing I did want to mention. Fortunately, it didn't cost the football team. It cost us some points, but we didn't cost us a game, so ultimately it didn't matter. But it always happens that first game, the the soccer team plays in Carbondale, and our kicker is Mauricio. So he's he's a soccer player first, kicker second, and so he played with the soccer team. And we had some guys that were I'm sure they try to get some reps. It's just different if you're not a kicker, you know, and they're trying to be. And they and we did fine.
SPEAKER_00We went for two every time.
SPEAKER_03We we tried one field, I think the original was outside out past that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I don't I think they're I think I walked I walked in another room. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and that's okay. That's not a it's not a criticism. It just I'd be like, I don't know, somebody not trying to, you know, you it's just not your position.
SPEAKER_00Well then you start chasing it.
SPEAKER_03Right. You start chasing points. That's exactly right. I was thinking about that all night. I thought, oh man.
SPEAKER_00But well what especially when it got to be 18 to 7, I was like, oh yeah. I mean, if they get another touchdown, then but it worked out.
SPEAKER_03It did. No, it was totally. We did get one two-point conversion. We did 32 to 7. Bulldogs look terrific. And again, Micah went over the schedule for this week. We did uh so go out and and and support the teams this week, especially when they're at home. I did want to mention just Mike and I talked about this before. We're not gonna mention any names, but people know who we're talking about. Certainly the Bulldog Nation's prayers are with the family. Certainly
Supporting A Family Through Tragedy
SPEAKER_03I I know mine and Micah's have been and will continue to be.
SPEAKER_00It's a it's a tough situation.
SPEAKER_03It's a tough situation, tragic, even.
SPEAKER_00It's uh it even makes me feel bad that I'm saying it's tough, but because I don't have any clue what those parents are going through. Right. Or siblings.
SPEAKER_03Correct.
SPEAKER_00Or other family members.
SPEAKER_03Right. And so just know with 100% certainty that my family and Micah and his family have prayed and will continue to pray for the family. We ask that you do the same and support them and however you're able to support them. One thing I remember talking to folks Micah is and and this is this is no knock on anybody because sometimes I still do it, and I I've I've read stuff about it, and they'll go, you know, they'll see somebody in that and go, hey, tell me if there's anything. Don't put that on them. Don't say, Can I let your dog out? And I and I or can I get your mail? Can I specifically ask them and not and not even just in this case, in all cases, and and and this spoke to me because I I used to say, hey, if anything I can do, you know, let me know. Listen, I I get it. That's that's our way of telling that we care. And I'm not being critical, because but if you give them a specific, can I do this specific, can I watch your kids? Can I in whatever situation it is?
SPEAKER_00Because they're not going to think about that until until they need it, and then they're not gonna reach out.
SPEAKER_03Correct. That's right. So and one thing if you if you take food, I think that's obvious obviously a need. One thing I've learned, unfortunately, losing my parents, Aaron's parents, Micah's dad, take paper plates, take paper towels, take toilet paper. Yes, take things that you just I say you, we tend to overlook. Well, taking the food, well, what the heck, you know, we don't want to do dishes, right? I mean, you know, in that in that instance, take those things. And that I don't even know why I brought that up. I just I just occurred to me.
SPEAKER_00Well, because people are gonna be doing that. They are, they are, and I yeah, and and I I admire that about this town.
SPEAKER_03Oh, they're gonna show up, yeah. They're gonna support the family, and so uh please know our prayers and are with them and their family, and we're I we'll just we'll just leave it at that.
SPEAKER_00And so but there that being said, I mean, like any anybody listening, maybe a young person, adult, whatever, don't be hesitant to get help or ask for help. You know, if you need to talk to somebody, you need to talk to somebody, reach out to somebody, I'm sure there'll be counselors at the school tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03Yes, thank you for mentioning that. Andy texted the school board and and and said there will be counselors available tomorrow at the school. That is correct. Please reach out to Micah. That's what he does. I mean, if you if you don't know Micah and you want to get a message to him through the through me, let me know. I will immediately get it to him.
SPEAKER_00And and and the there is nine eight eight that's available twenty-four hours a day.
SPEAKER_03Um thank you for mentioning that.
SPEAKER_00Like even today. I mean, like there's nine eight eight. Yep, there's crisis members that ban that all at all times.
SPEAKER_03So I mean there is nothing don't think of that as a weakness. Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Right. Yeah, yes. It's okay to ask for help. And you don't have to do it by yourself.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_00And you know, I could go into well, I I think I think I may, I because I feel like this is important to kind of share with people about grief because Cooler Ross and I shared this with Matt upstairs a while ago before we come down here. Many people kind of question whether God knows, like questions what why God allows things to happen.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think it's natural, Mike, and it's and we all do that.
SPEAKER_00And and and I just want people to know that God is real and that he understands the way we feel because he he he lived on this earth and he feels just like we did, and he still does, even in heaven. But if you look at the stages of grief, there's anger, there's bargaining, depression, misdenial, denial, and then acceptance. An acceptance, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So if you look at the I am given the professional.
SPEAKER_00I'm a little taken back a little bit. I know you are. But I mean, like, so but if if if you look at if you look at the stages of grief, Kuhler Ross came up with them and I think in the 40s or 50s, I'd have to go back and look. So any social workers or counselors out there that actually know don't crucify me. But anyway, but it's always been there, it's in the Bible. Uh grief is there. So if you look at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Peter got mad, angry, cut the Roman soldier's ear off. Yes. Peter denied Jesus. Yeah. Judas was so depressed that he ended up committing suicide. We don't want that. Right. Reach out to somebody.
SPEAKER_03Correct.
SPEAKER_00Then we have Jesus himself bargaining. Yeah. He prayed if there's any other way to take this cup from me.
SPEAKER_03That's exactly right.
SPEAKER_00And then and then he also said, It is finished. That's acceptance. Yes. I wished I could say that those stages of grief are in order. Like if you could go through one and get to the other, I I've seen people get to acceptance and then go back to anger. Or I've seen people get to anger and then be an acceptance and then back to denial or whatever. You know, so grief is a lifelong process. I, you know, many people often tell people, Oh, it's been two years, get over it. That's not true. I I I I have a grandmother that passed in like 1982. I still grieve her. Sure. Do I think about her, do I grieve her all the time? No. Right. But I do think about her pretty often, especially when I'm talking about grief.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean, we just you and I've lost our dads within the past two years, and I lost my mom. Right.
SPEAKER_00And I still think about them too. Of course. But I mean, like, but don't feel like you gotta tell somebody that uh there's a period of grief. There is not a period of grief. It's it's a process. Yep. Now I will say that one of the worst things that you can do is what people often do in the beginning of grief, is they make their world smaller and they begin to stop doing the things that they enjoyed or things that maybe they've done with the other person and stuff like that. So when you do that, grief becomes the center point. And and there is a time and period where it needs to be a center point of of of of lifelong, you know. I mean, like just grieve through this, you know, and and and do that. But it's okay to to begin to enjoy life again. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That's not to that may not be today or tomorrow. But and it's it's not my place to say how long or what. But I will say that one of the things that that to do is is do things that either you want to do or things that you maybe wanted to do maybe with that person, or and I'm just talking in general with grief. Right. But it's okay to begin to live life again because as your world gets bigger, I always talk I always I talk a lot about people's lives getting like their world getting smaller and bigger. And as your life becomes bigger, like you're involved in things, grief is still there. You're still gonna bump up against it, but it's a lot easier to deal with or more more manageable if you've got other tools to go along to s to deal with that. So totally agree. I just I just felt like I don't know, I mean, it it is tough, and I mean I don't I don't have any magic words for anybody. Yeah. But I I am willing to listen. Yeah. And and you know, I mean, and whether that be an adult, child, whatever.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean we just Micah and I really just wanted to share that our our our prayers are are with the family and and and Micah can help way more than I can. And so again, I'm I'm offering up your services, Micah.
SPEAKER_00So you're you're good. I mean, like, and and here the thing is is is sometimes it's good to talk to somebody you don't know.
SPEAKER_03That's true. They have no biases, so to speak. Not against you, but they have nothing that they they have no backstory, so to speak, or any context to know. Pre pre preconceived notions, yeah. That's exactly right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, and trust me, I mean, like I'll cry with you. I've done that a thousand times with people. I mean, but just know that there is help. Yeah, and it's okay to reach out for it. It doesn't show weakness. That's right.
SPEAKER_03There's actually a lot of strength to be able to reach out for help in those instances.
SPEAKER_00I had somebody once tell me that that if you think being meek is weak, try being meek for a week. Yeah. I mean, and if you really stop and think about that. And I know I know there's people out there today that are probably very mad at God. Huh? He is not unfamiliar with that. Correct. Correct. Continue to cry out to him.
SPEAKER_03Listen, I think his disciples were mad.
SPEAKER_00What yeah. After he died? Yes, yes. Well, they thought it was finished. Yes. Correct. I mean, like they and you gotta think about what they were looking for. They were looking for somebody to to rule a kingdom.
SPEAKER_03Yes, that is correct. They just didn't know what kingdom they were.
SPEAKER_00Well, the the the truth is is they were looking at a brief period of time, yeah. Their life. Yep. They weren't looking at the bigger picture. Not eternity. God reigns forever in heaven. I mean, like he can only reign for a period of time here on earth because man is mortal. That's right. Well, I you know, we've we've probably went down a little bit further.
SPEAKER_03We have, and that's okay. I I just I just want the family to know that and and and Bulldog Nation, so to speak, that we're certainly aware and keenly aware, and our prayers are with them. And so
