Faith Unfolding
“Not Your Ordinary Christian Podcast”
Welcome to the very first episode of Faith Unfolding with Reverend Corbiey Ouellette. If you’re looking for a Christian podcast that doesn’t preach at you—but instead walks with you—this is it.
In this raw and unfiltered introduction, Corbiey shares the vision behind the show, reflecting on his journey from atheism to faith, and what makes this podcast different from the rest. You’ll hear why he avoids indoctrination, how spooky places and heavy metal concerts have shown him Christlike moments, and why there’s a seat at this table for everyone—from the faithful to the questioning, from conservative to progressive, from believer to skeptic.
You won’t find judgment here. What you will find are honest conversations, bold questions, and the space to explore faith without fear. Next week, we dive into a big one: LGBTQ and the Church.

Reverend Corbiey Ouellette:
Welcome to my brand-new podcast called Faith Unfolding. I’m Reverend Corbiey Ouellette.
If you were a listener of—let’s call it my prototype—The Human Conservation Podcast, thank you for coming over to see what I’ve got brewing. I’m really excited for this show. It’s going to be a little more raw, a little more direct, and a whole lot more personal.
We’re going to have difficult discussions. We’re going to bring in guests to talk about Jesus and where He can be found in this crazy world. I’ll keep the Human Conservation Podcast up for now—you can still find those episodes wherever you get your podcasts, and on my website, Corbiey.com.
Let me start by telling you what you won’t find on this podcast: indoctrination. Yes, I may be the only one speaking most episodes, but this is not a one-sided sermon. Faith Unfolding is about exploring, questioning, and growing. I want to challenge you—and myself—to step outside our comfort zones. It’s okay to disagree. We can have different perspectives and still respect each other.
Here’s a quick example: My wife and I love spooky things. We’ve visited places like Gettysburg and Salem. On paper, that puts me at odds with conservative Christianity. I’m also a huge fan of heavy metal. “The Devil’s music,” right? But I’ve seen more Christlike behavior at metal shows and in mosh pits than I have in some churches. If you only spend time with the saved, who’s left to save the lost?
That’s the heart of this podcast—meeting people where they are. And I need your help. I need your feedback and your honesty. I’m not Jesus—I’m a guide, a fellow traveler. I want to learn as much as I teach.
Another thing you won’t find here: judgment. I don’t care about your past, your identity, your religion (or lack thereof), your politics, or where you’re from. There is a seat at this table for you. God can use all of it—every story, every scar—for good.
God has given us amazing resources to seek Him: nature, history, even other cultures.
Let’s take a spider. Creepy, right? Most people would kill one on sight. But there’s this beautiful poem that says:
“She asks me to kill the spider.
Instead, I get the most peaceful weapons I can find.
I take a cup and a napkin.
I catch the spider, put it outside, and allow it to walk away.
If I am ever caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, just being alive and not bothering anyone, I hope I am greeted with the same kind of mercy.”
That’s what this show is about—pausing to think differently. About God. About life. About others.
History is another tool. Not just biblical history—world history, local history, even your own family. God’s fingerprints are everywhere, if we’re willing to look.
Even in cultures that don’t profess Christianity, we can find traces of Him. Take Genesis 17:20, where God promises to make Ishmael into a great nation. Where did that nation go? That question alone opens doors for spiritual archaeology.
As Russell Brand once said on Jordan Peterson’s podcast: “If God is everything, then God can be anything.”
And Matthew 6:33 tells us:
"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness..."
That word—seek—implies effort. It implies exploration. And that’s what we’ll do together on Faith Unfolding.
I use scripture sparingly—not because I don’t value it, but because I want to connect with non-Christians, spiritual seekers, and people who don’t yet see the Bible as the living Word of God. My own walk with Christ began through months of conversation with a patient, judgment-free friend.
And let’s be honest—scripture can be twisted. It’s not about memorizing verses. It’s about living them. As one of my mentors, Pastor Darryl Duer, once said: “Don’t make the Bible mean what it says. Let it mean what it means.”
I typically use the NIV—not because it’s better, but because it’s more readable. The Bible, in any translation, is a tool for relationship with God.
And speaking of tools—God gave us two: a heart and a brain. When they’re in harmony, we’re likely on the right path. When they’re out of sync, it’s a red flag. Sometimes, love alone isn’t enough. Sometimes, tough love is the righteous path.
So here’s what you’ll find on this podcast:
- No indoctrination
- No judgment
- No fire-and-brimstone preaching
Instead:
- Real-life faith
- Tough conversations
- Stories that spark self-reflection
- Humor and honesty
- And next week, we dive right into it—with an episode on LGBTQ and the Church.
Episodes will be 25 to 35 minutes long, and I’ll release one every week. Sometimes there may be bonus content if something pressing comes up.
We’ll begin and end each episode with a short prayer. And I truly want your feedback, your questions, and even your disagreements—just keep it respectful. If you like what you hear, please like, share, and subscribe.
Thanks for giving me a chance today. I hope you'll come back next week.
Let us pray.
