Welcome back to At Will Podcast. It's me, your host, Antoine Williams. Here with my bro. Yo, yo, what's going on, man? CP in the building. Let's go. We got we missing Manos today, of course. But we got one to fill in for. Hey, we got Shannon. We got John. Yes, sir. I got it right. Yes, yes, yes, yes. What's up, man? How y'all doing, man? Man, I'm good, man. All is well. Thank y'all for being here for sure, man. Oh, yeah. I made a long trip. I know. So yeah, man. Yeah, thank y'all. Thanks for having us. Oh man, y'all got some big news though right away. Right off the game, I'm gonna start off with that. No, I mean something like that. Something like that. Yeah, we'll get into it. Something like that, yeah. We'll get into it, man. Yeah, but yeah, man. How's the week, dudes? Hey man, I'm chilling, bro. Yeah, it was it was quick and easy coming off the holiday. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm a little tired now, but yeah, good. Hey bro, man, I celebrated my tenure. You know, I'm getting old. 10 years. Man, you getting up there. It's 10 years, man. I ain't gonna tell you how long I've been out of high school. Don't ask me. I ain't gonna tell you how long that was. Yeah, it's been a minute. What y'all do? Y'all had a party? Uh yeah, man. You know, we had uh apparently rented out all skate, you know. I was a little iffy at first, but turned out to be smooth because it was just us, like it wasn't like nobody else there. Yeah, it's just us. Uh ended up being smooth, did a little after party at the chase, and then from there I went and been at I did some adventurous things. Nah, I'm listening. I went to this little party afterwards. I went to this little party afterwards. You put it on the show. You put it out there. Hey, I'll just hey, I'm just listening, man. I'm just listening. Nah, bro. Yeah, I went to this little party afterwards, was chilling. Then some YN showed up, so I had to get out of there. Turn the slide after that. Yeah, yeah. This is afterwards. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody had a little birthday party going on. Oh, okay. Yeah, so everybody goes to Chase. That's afterwards. That's just that's just where it was. Hey, but it was packed. 2016 represented, you feel me? I bet, man. Dang, man. Once again, I ain't gonna tell you what. It don't seem that long ago. Cause you the young and out of the bus, too. I mean older than her. She's nine years older than me. Yeah, you should put it out there, dog, man. We better. How about I just I just know because like as far as all the grandkids, starting from the top with Timmy, it's we all three years apart. Oh, for real? Yeah. Oh, that's kind of sweet. That is sweet. Well, except for Rex. Rex is four years younger than me, but Oh, Rex broke the law. Yeah. But it's just easy to remember. I just do my age and add whatever. No, you don't add, yeah. Yeah, okay, okay. And y'all know the order of everybody. Yeah, that's that's kind of smooth. That's kind of clever. That's kind of sweet, though. That's kind of sweet. Yeah, man. Yeah. What about y'all, man? How was y'all week, man? Um, it was pretty cool. Slow. Pretty cool. Uh went to my cousin. She had a birthday party. Older cousin, really, my mama cousin. Yeah. But she had a birthday party. We went there, kicked it for a minute. Yeah. Went to the taco truck in uh Southwest Detroit. Y'all gotta try that out, man. For real. Yeah, but you know, because I like to eat. But uh I'm right there with you, bro. Celebrate that today. Yes, sir. So we did that, and then we just kind of chilled. We ain't really do really do too much. You know what I'm saying? But you share. Just working, trying to wrap up the school year. Busy week ahead. Yes, heck yeah. Oh, kindergarten teacher. I did not know that. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Man, we're done in a week. Oh, yeah. Educator, you're heard. Right, right, you're right. I'm a real teacher. I respect teachers. I respect anybody in education, man, just because y'all definitely underpaid for sure. I respect me, Nick. Message with you. Hey, teaching, you gotta have a lot of patience. Come on, man, bro. A lot. Bro, could you see yourself doing that? Absolutely not. No, I'm good on that. I'm straight. You know what I'm saying? I'm good. I'm good on that. Man, no, I mean it's true. I had a good week too. Like Corey said, it was fast. Coming off the holiday, you know. Uh man, it's smooth. It's like, yeah, we had some good weather. So, and then watch these playoffs. Yeah. Let's go, man. Oh, you saw this point, bro. I mean, my pist is lost, man. Oh, yeah, no, that's not being pistonite with me, man. Let's go. I was a little, I was, I was a little, I was, I was a lot of salty, actually. I'm very upset that we we we should be in the finals for sure. Yeah. It should be us and San Antonio. Could've shoulda. See, this this is. I don't know if y'all watched the other episodes, but this guy, man, pista hater over there. What? You don't like the pistons? They overrated. They overrated it. Bro, they don't like Kate. Kate. Oh no. K ain't no superstar, bro. Oh. I know the athlete saying that. What so what makes him like, okay, what makes him not a superstar? He's just the number two, in my opinion. Oh. He does come on the ball a lot. Oh, turns the ball over a lot. Is this a prior thing? He turns the ball over there. I think it is. The prior's ganging up. What is going on up here? What do y'all don't see, man? He turned over the ball a lot because the ball is always in his hand. He's the guy that got to make the plays and the shots. Yeah. I mean, that's what you mean. So he's going to have a high turnover, turnover rate or whatever. Not if you take care of it. I think I think he got a high ceiling. I think that um he'd be certain. He'd be all right. He's uh 24, 25? Young. So um I think I think that uh I think the Pistons, they're gonna probably do some good, good trades and signings this summer. They gotta get another guard, like another guard or another person to alleviate. They need a win player. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Do you see the rumors that uh they might get Kawhi? I'm cool with that. I'm with that too. I'm cool with that. Bona fide superstar. I'm cool with that. Kawhi bona five superstar? Kawhi is when he plays, is a top three player. But he's gonna play half of the year. Yeah, that's that's so true. Hey, that's so true. What you need him for the regular season for if he's gonna show up in the postseason. We need him for this time of year. So we can put it and make the finals. I will I would happily let him sit every other game so he can show up. He did his due. But still, man, hey, Detroit should be there. I know, man. You think we're gonna sign Derry back? Um, yeah. I think so. Should we sign Derry back? Yeah. I think so. I mean, he had okay, like I feel like he had two bad series, right? Playoff series, but I don't think that defines. He did. He did, though. Bro. But he's 22. You know what I'm saying? He's a kid. So he's like, it's like, hey, I forget about how young he's. We got a we gotta we got a young team. It's also they first all their first times being in this position. Yeah, yeah. Because they ain't been in the playoffs in a minute. Yeah, and well, that was our first playoff series one since what's 2008. You know what I mean? So it's like he, I think I think of the off-the-court stuff too. I think so too. That was messing with his head, old girl, and all that type of stuff. Yeah, you're right. I think it was, man, because because I watched him during the regular season, he was a horse. Yeah, I mean, he was just 19, 20 points, 10, 11 rebounds, and it's like they played the magic and they were going against uh Angel Reese's Wendell, the Wendell Carter guy. And I think that that just messed with his psyche. I think it did. And man, great minds think of like, yeah, yeah, because he I think so. I told him, I was like, man, that I I won't try to let that be excuse for his bad play, but yeah, you you okay. Remember what we also said. They are kids. They are kids. I I'm with y'all on that. They are young, they are just a young team for sure. Yeah, not to call a grown man a kid, but he low 20s, he's a kid. He's a kid compared to him. Yeah, right. He's a few years removed from high school. Yeah, yeah. So I think they'd be fine, though. Yeah. 200 mil? Yeah. Nah, I can't get that. I don't know about that one. He can get 160, 170 or something, man. I can see that. That 200 mil, he got the man. He lost that, huh? Yeah. He did. I hate to say it, but he lost that. J J D, he uh he shot himself in the foot with that one. Yeah, man. I think so too. Yeah, I think we should sign him too. Yeah, you're right. I'll say 150. Yeah. If he signed back with us, but yeah, man. All right, so we got the finals. We got uh New York, San Antonio rematched from 1999. Sure isn't even here. Yeah, Latrell Sprewell and then Alan Houston. We're showing my age. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where your math at? He was here. I said, You I know you was. Oh, yeah, see? But still, yeah, so you ain't watch not one game. Nah. My first recollection of basketball, of like watching it, was Pistons Lakers finals. Oh, four. Yeah. Oh, that was a good year. Yeah, it was a good one. I was I was five going on six. Yeah. So I remember that. Yeah, I can see that. I can see that. That's like my first real like memories of basketball. That whole year, or just that series. Really, maybe it's just a series. Okay. I know we went to some games here and there. Yeah, I was about to say, I'm pretty sure y'all went to the games. The palace. Yeah, back in the day. The palace, Arbor Hills, yeah. Okay, so y'all being Detroit natives. I mean, is it better with the Pistons being downtown now with every everybody else or whatever? Uh Palace, like Palace was like 30 minutes away from Detroit, but I like it being downtown because you can go whenever you want. Yeah, sure, yeah. Yeah, that palace. Yeah. That right. Yes. It's like, it's like, dang, do I really want to drive 30 minutes? 45 with traffic. Yeah, yeah. Or I could just go right downtown. Right, right, really. I'm with that. I like it being downtown for sure. Yeah, man. Yeah. Detroit. Man. Yeah, about the sit about the finals. Who you got? New York, San Antonio. San Antonio and five. Yes, sir. San Antonio. I'm with you. I'm with you. Hey. Yeah, New York don't match up well. They don't match up well, man. You're right, you're right. Uh hey, me, me, being me. New York didn't match up well with Detroit. They for sure not matching up well with San Francisco. That's what I'm saying. But Detroit blew it against Cleveland, so you wouldn't see that final anyway. So it is what it is. See, man, don't you hear that in there. San Antonio uh guard play, too. They got good guard play and wing play. Very impressive by that. Man, hey, I ain't know my band. It's good like that. What's it? Castle. Castle, yeah. Stefan Castle. Yeah, I was like, man, this dude, 866, he's big. Big guard. Big guard, man. He guards three or four positions, too. Yeah, right, right. So it's like he probably gonna be the primary defender on Bronson. I'm almost sure. I can see that. I'm almost sure. But you got Fox, too, who can Yeah, he can get busy. Yeah. The strength of uh of Bronson? Can he handle that? If they let them play, they're gonna be alright. Because New York the same way they New York is OKC of the East. True. I can see all the all the extra flopping and stuff. That's that's goodness, man. That that ain't that ain't basketball. I don't know what that is. I don't know what that is. Yeah, man. Yeah, I'm I'm so glad they OKC. Not I'm not hating on OKC, but I'm just glad they didn't make it. I hope I was hoping they won it last year, but then this year, and just how they was winning, I was like, I don't really. I can't get behind that. Yeah, I never really paid at this attention to them throughout the year, but once I seen them in the playoffs, yeah, I noticed that. I was like, I was like, oh yeah. And then Shay got MVP again, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, man. It's obvious if you go into the free throws, you averaging what he averaged like 30 something, or I don't know what he averaged, but hey, I saw a stat, right? Uh said Shay, he averaged 30, 31 in the regular season, and in the conference finals, he was averaging 24. They said that's like the biggest average drop-off for an MVP in the conference finals ever. Oh yeah. What's that? Six points, seven points? Yeah, eight points. Six, seven points. Wow. Well, that's huge. And they said that's the first time ever. Like, don't get me wrong, it's like it's not likely that your MVP. Well, your MVP is probably gonna be playing in the conference final. Yeah, facts. For sure. But for that to be the biggest point drop off ever, just shows like they was letting him play and he wasn't getting to the line nearly as much. So I agree. Look, Shannon's Bobby. Even though he had 35, even though he had 35 last night, he had 35. But still. He had 35, but I just think I just think San Antonio, hey, they wings and guards, man, they tough, man. It was the big team, man. Clearly. Clearly. Yeah, yeah, right. They're gonna handle New York. New York don't have they ain't got enough. They ain't got nobody for Wimby, first of all. And like you said, I like the castle. Not big purr. I think I think New York could get one because they New York. They win one at home. It's gonna be in New York, yeah. I think it's gonna be in New York. They're getting one at the crib. Yeah. But I think it's gonna be a gentleman's suite. Yeah, yeah. True. Hey, mighty sweep. Yeah, part as good. Man, yeah, so man, yeah, yeah. Talk about y'all big news, man. Yeah, yeah. Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you, thank you. Future mores? Yes. Yes, yes. Yes, yes. More love. More love. Yes, yeah. That's cool. Some like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How did that come about, man? Hey, break down how you uh ask her, man. Man, she is like I went and got the ring like back in like, like I said, back in like March. And I just kind of like had it on me, had it in my truck. Yeah. And you know, we always take my truck when we go places and stuff like that. So I was hoping, like, man, I hope she ain't rambling through my truck or she's gonna find it and see it. You know what I mean? So I wanted to make it a really big deal. Because that's how I am. And Shana kind of like, you know, chill, quiet, reserved, private. Laid back, laid back, laid back, cooling. So um, long story short, we went to this restaurant called uh Vive, and that's where her and Sierra and Jalen and all them went for Sierra's birthday a few weeks prior, or whatever. So she came home telling me about the restaurant, saying it was nice, you'll like it, the food is great, I'm beyond. So I'm like, all right, cool, let's do it. So uh we we shoot out there and uh we go kind of late, go out there or whatever, we get uh get something to eat. I'm waiting on my little homeboy because he was hooping, working out, he the one took the picture. Yeah. So by the time, you know, the end of the night, the night ends, and uh we in the parking lot. That's why on Instagram y'all see us in the parking lot because uh the restaurant, like, hey, we we about to pack up. We y'all leave it. It's time to go. So I was like, you know, I gotta uh I gotta I gotta shoot a move, make a decision, man. And um, I ain't felt like that in a long time. Like I was I was like really nervous. Yeah, yeah. I couldn't really eat my food. I like to eat. I was like, man. So you know what's a problem there. So uh he finally came and he said some little crap story to her, yeah, get her attention off of me. Um I get down on one knee, I'm like, hey, you want you marry me? She was like, yes, yes, you know, shocked and stuff, so you know it. It worked out. I got a question for you. Yes, did he cry? No. I'm a little too playing for that. I was just talking though. It's very serious, though. Oh yeah, yeah. I was I don't think neither one of us cried. It was more like a very shocking experience. Still on that high, actually now. Because y'all kinda knew y'all was gonna get to this point, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. How long y'all been together? Like four and a half. Really? You ain't lying, huh? No, no, I didn't say that. No, because I like I like that. I like that. Y'all ain't just rushing to it, because that's what that's a problem with people now. That's why marriage is not lasting. People rushing thinking, oh, because we've been around this or been with each other this long, we shouldn't get married. Like, no, y'all learned each other, y'all took the time. No, hey, yeah, this is who I want to be with. So I agree. I I love that. I I love the fact that y'all together. Four years, let it be five, if you want it, whatever. And let it let it be short. Divorce. Speaking as a man who got divorced, it's not it's not good. You know what I'm saying? So I don't wish that on nobody. So that's real. I appreciate that. It is, it's it's what they say, they say it's a death, it's a death without being a funeral. You know what I mean? Oh man. Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. Oh, bro, no, it's like that. Like me and my ex what, 15 years been together, 12 years married, you know what I'm saying? It's been three years we've been divorced, it's still things I gotta get used to not doing without, you know what I'm saying? It's like it's like, yeah, I've been three years single, but it's like some of the things always come out, like, hey, oh yeah, I used to do that, man. You know, and then people ain't see you in a while, oh man, how's you and your wife, you know? Nah, bro, nah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, so yeah, it takes it takes a minute, man. So yeah, but I mean, it's we cool. We we we seen each other, you know, not too long ago. We we talk, we no bad blood, you know. It happens, yeah. That's what it is, that's what it is. But but nah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, keep it together, bro. Keep it together. Hey, Corey's silly, keep it together, keep it together. I got my cries on it. I ain't gonna lie, I got my cries off, man. Yeah, that's real, that's real. That's a real thing, man. I got my cries off, man. Yeah, that was that was a woman I loved, yeah. But you know, it it happened. Hopefully, you'll find someone more. I will. Amazing. Oh man, I'm sure you will, because you're a smooth type guy, too. Yeah, man. You know what I'm saying? What the hell? My brother. I can tell. I can tell. So I don't I don't think I don't think it'll be hard at all. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hope so. Uh like I said, I'm gonna take my time because I'm like, I ain't I ain't gonna jump into nothing. I don't want to I don't want to experience this again, you know what I mean? I'm with you on that. So yeah, with you on that. Yeah, so man. Y'all get y'all got a date set of whatever? Nah, yeah. I mean, I I know y'all just really just got possibly next year. Next year for sure, though. Time frame, yeah. Okay. You invited too, but you know I'm gonna have to. Yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah. I want you to come in there suited and booted. Suited and booted. Bro, I want to be suited and booted too, man. I love it. Now, where's it gonna be? Y'all gonna get married uh here in Jackson or Detroit. Yeah, Detroit. I'll say that. I was hoping. Detroit or or or but you know what? She wants to do a destination way. Hey, that's fine. That's fire too, though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's fire too, so that's fine. You know, maybe both. Maybe both. You know, destination way, and then you know one for the fam, but then and then everybody wanna you know, but then we gotta show out act, you know, show out, have one of them nights you had last night. Yeah, too much, too. HL. I'm just talking, y'all. Yeah, hey man, they don't know that time. They don't know that. You had a good time, bro. Speaking of Detroit, man, you grew up in Detroit, man. Yes, sir. Yeah, what's that? Talk about the upbringing, man. West side, man. West side, okay. Yeah, West Side. West side, best side. And you know that. Yeah, West Side, though, uh Evergreen, Seven Mile Lasher area. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Is that close by the I don't know how? Is that close by the uh probably off? Or Big Meet you know? Oh no. No, no, they knew I was off. I knew I was off. They down that that's like uh Southwest. They like Southwest. Okay, okay. Del Ray area, E Course, all up in the city. They down there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh. Who grew up around there? I'm just saying where your neighborhood. It's closer to them cities. Uh no, it ain't it's more so like more so like we kind of like it's the Detroit and it's like the Redford borderline. Like telegraph separates Detroit and Redford. Yeah, okay. So that's where I grew up at, you know what I mean? Sorry, honey. But a couple of blocks down you in Southfield, though. Less like two miles up. I'm just I mean, yeah, I mean, this is where I'm from. I I I mean, I I I put it to you like this. This is where I grew up at. So that's where I'm from. So it's like you can't tell me nothing about them blocks. I didn't I didn't play it on them, I didn't fought on them. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, hey, I know. Yeah, man. Yeah, yeah. So was it rough growing up? Or was it you know me? I know everybody, you know, we come from the areas. I know you have more stories, whatever, but was it rough like crumbing up or is it just smooth, just like talk about it? Um how was growing up on the west side? Hey, it was a little bit of a little bit of all of that, man. You know what I mean? It's like it's like, you know, you got the ball players, me and a few of my homeboys to play ball. Then you got the you know, the hood politics, the gangs and stuff like that. Yeah, you know what I mean? And then uh you have the ones who just like to chill, you know what I mean? But it was it was rough, man. But like I told y'all like uh before we got on air, yeah, I always um kind of knew who I was growing up. Like, you know what I mean? I kind of knew. I like I like to joke, laugh, yeah. I mean, chase the girls. Yeah, yeah. This was years ago. Years ago. Years ago, years ago. We're talking about over 20 years ago. Right, right, right. Uh chase the girls, ride the bikes, stuff like that. Yeah, I I I knew like I didn't want to do what they were doing. Yeah, you know what I mean? And I think that's what made like the if you want to call them the gangsters and all of them, yeah, kind of like respect me because I knew I didn't want to do that. You know what I mean? And I should be up front, like, bro, I'm not doing that, man. Yeah. I kind of I kind of had to like grow up a little faster. Man, let's see. You know what I mean? That's what man, that's what I always admire about y'all guess. Like that it made it out, you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, y'all get smoked a lot more than what here you call when we call gangs, they know I keep trying to tell these kids, like, man, yeah, I don't know gangs. Yeah, I don't know what, man. That's like for real, man. So, but uh, like man, who was like the OGs that helped you out? Like, I don't want to put their names out there. I mean, okay, okay. But yeah, but it it was uh it was it was it was a lot. We had a lot of uh older guys and they kind of kind of guided us a little bit. Yeah, you know what I mean? One of those like the uh like recreations, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah. YMCA. We used to uh had teen night every Friday night at the YMCA. So that was like the hangout spot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then the park we used to play, the park we used to hoop at on last year was like right behind the YMCA. So we'd leave from the park and go to the YMCA. It was walking distance from my house. So every Friday we had teen night and we used to be in there, excuse me, having battles with basketball. Then a little chicks from neighborhood had come, so do you really want to play a little hard? I'm out there, I'm copying with the frog. A little one-to-jab, all that. So it was like she watched you. Oh, she watching me. Hold on, you know what I mean? So we uh that's how I used to be, man. It was it was fun. We had we had uh it was a it was a fun childhood, man. We did get exposed to a lot, yeah, and I kind of feel like that kind of helped me, man. Because of B14, 15, 16, it's like dudes was dope smoking and yeah, all that type of stuff. And I just was like, nah, I ain't doing that. I thought I was going to the NBA, so I had that back in my back. I tried to tell Corey, man. I was a hooper, man. They don't think you know we bigger guys. I used to be, I would always just fetch Corey. I told him, man. Corey, he had my back, but little dramain and uh everybody else, they be like, what? Yeah, Ryan. Like Corey knows I hoop, but all the rest of them be like, man, you hoops. I said, man, I ain't I ain't been this big. I was a little sputy guy, man. I was like hooper fast, you know what I'm saying? All that good stuff. Yeah, right. Now I'm a now I'm a detective. I heard this patch. I heard this lived a little life, man. Yeah, hey, I have fun, man. Yeah, but for real. But you know, uh, I wasn't always just this heavy set, man. But I think it looked good on me. I do me too. You know what I'm saying? Oh, man, that's okay. Man, I I was a little slim, man. I wasn't this big, but you know, around about that, around about 32, 33. The look where you start packing up when you look at it. I'm just being honest. I was good, them too. You know, we got you know, we got the Coney Islands in uh Detroit. Yeah, so we got chili cheese fries, all that type of stuff, man. Well these these cats in Jackson be thinking uh we got they got the real Coney Island here, you know what I'm saying? Oh I heard her pop stone. Y'all gotta come down, man. Yeah, that's what I said. We gotta do that one. I mean, I will say the Coney originated in Jackson. It did. Oh, did it for real? Did it? I didn't know that did it. No, it did. That's what I said. Did it really? I didn't know. I thought it originated in Detroit. I thought it did too. It's Jackson. Wow. I'm about to try one of them out. Are they good? They work, yeah. Yeah, they uh back in the day they were good. Yeah, they said they ain't nowhere near like they was back in the day. So how was how was it growing up out here? Man, why everybody looking at me like I'll break it down to you? Break it down to between. Yeah, small city. Look now back then, you know, and I'm pretty sure probably with y'all too, uh, like neighborhoods kind of helped took care of you. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. It's like, man, we had we we have more respect for elders. For sure. Let me say that for sure. Yeah, like that's real. Younger, younger kids nowadays don't they don't respect the elders like they like we used to, man. And then I I blame, I kind of blame some of us elders too, who's like uh too scared to approach the young kids, you know what I'm saying? I agree. You know what I mean? Because it's like man, they they're like, oh man, no, they're crazy. No, they just the kids. They're looking for they they looking for a way, you know what I'm saying? They look for somebody who cares. So especially some that come from unfortunate. I ain't I ain't come up from the greatest background, but I know it's some that was less unfortunate than I was. So I was like, man, you know, every time I see one of those type of kids, you know, I try to you know, reach out to them or you know what I'm saying. Just you know, that's real. Yeah, yeah. So I that's that's one of my passions for real. So but nah, this is this neighborhoods took care of each other, you know. We didn't have, I mean, we used to have we knuckle up, man. We had to knuckle up back in the day. Ain't no wrong with that though. We had to knuckle up, like man. I I remember we used to fight, fight a lot, and then we always friends afterwards, you know what I'm saying? I remember them dance. I mean, we didn't have to come up with my air, and I mean I don't know, I can't speak for those two, but uh I was like, Man, yeah, we didn't have a lot of violence, you know what I'm saying, like that back in the day. You know, the violence was us just being kids, you know what I'm saying, going you know, nigga knocking on the doors with the favorites or whatever, or like I said, just fighting in the streets or whatever, fighting because you know basketball games or whatever, but high school games and stuff like that. So, man, but yeah, I mean that's that was that was that was it, man. I mean, we had our rivals with we had our rivals with Albion, shoot. Uh and you basketball, our coach, shout out to you, John Willis, man. He's like, man, he's like, man, y'all think y'all good. Y'all, y'all ain't good. He's like, man. He's like, oh yeah, y'all, oh y'all want this and that tournament, this and little tournaments around town. I said, man, we're going to Detroit. For real. He's like, he's like, that's when you he's like, if you can make it on East Court, he's like, hey, that's where you good. This is where you know you can't. That's the truth. That's the truth. And I was like, it's still like that to this day. I was like, Detroit's still a who town, man. Like the you ain't lying, Twine. No, for real, for real. That's how I learned how to play. You can't throw it into the pit. Yeah. You gotta figure it out. Yeah, facts, man. You gotta figure it out. Facts, yeah. Yeah, that's cool though. Yeah, I know we don't all talk is uh you pop off favorite, huh? Yes, she is, but I I'll let her talk on that one. Yeah, yeah, we gotta say, but they say it's so I heard. I want you to be to brag to all your cousins how you became a favorite. Go ahead. I mean, I can I was the first girl, um first granddaughter when he, you know, he got three sons, so yeah. I didn't know I forgot, because I used to think I used to think Lisa was his daughter. Oh I did. Well she was close to the she was closer to the boys. I used to think I used to think Lisa was, yeah. No, I didn't think she was any of y'all's parents. I already knew we all parents. No, I you know, I just I don't know. Like I was born and they gave me my metal names, like my grandmother gave me um Whitley from different worlds, and then Paw liked Ashley. Yeah. And uh yeah. Yeah, I remember Timmy Josh going, you know, and going to the basement, the rap battles. Oh man. Yeah, the little studio down here. Yeah, remember, man. That's it, man. The rap battles, good old days. For real, that's crazy. Hey, for real, baby. We used to always talk about, especially with of course with the big battle, Jay-Z and Nas. Oh man. Oh man, come on, man. You already know that was talking about, man. Yeah. Man, so you you coach basketball. Yeah. You do a little coaching basketball, man. I do. Talk about that, man. Started back in like 2016. I still was playing a little bit then. That was 10 years ago. So I so I was just had a group of people, group of my homeboys, all former basketball players. We used to uh hoop and stuff like that for recreation. And then as I got older, I started uh like going to the high school games, watching watching these young guys play. And I noticed that they didn't really have nowhere to play in the summertime, like uh once they come from school. Yeah, so I had put a team together, a few of my young guys, and we play in this program called the P PBL basketball. Yeah, and it's on the east side of Detroit. Okay. And you get all you get all the best players from uh all over Michigan and uh some parts of Ohio. Yeah, and they come up here every Saturday and Sunday, yeah, and um they duke it out, man. We um my team, we won a championship two years ago. Okay, yeah. They won the championship two years ago. But now, uh man, we kind of we we still won the championship high, man. It's like we 0-3. We owe three, yeah. We lost on the buzzer beetle yesterday. Oh, dang, bro. Yeah, and I was wow, man. I was like, man, I was so bad. Whole day was messed up. I was beat it, man, for real. She's like, what you wanna do? Man, I ain't hungry. I'm good. I'm good, I'm good. I'm straight. No, but uh yeah, I've been doing that for the past like uh coaching the kids part of the past about four years. That's what's up. Y'all gotta come take us out, man. Come down to the city, man. I'm here. Come hang out with Uk, man. Come take with Ug, man. Big Ug. I don't see it. She's crazy. Big Ug as far. She's like, she's like, so who y'all got on? I was like, yeah, Dijon, come on. She's like, oh, big unk. Oh big. Oh my god, she's silly, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man. So you see a lot of hoopers come from Detroit. I have, yeah, for sure. Who was the best you seen? A lot of people are gonna be mad with this air. Um best I ever seen that come out of Detroit. Um, you could give us a top five, man. Maurice Eger. Maurice Eger. Come on, man. He went to the state. I hope to get to. Oh, you did? Oh, yeah, y'all were about the same age for sure. Mo beat us, man. He beat us on a buzzer beater. Man, he dunked on our uh he dunked on everybody. He's like, man, we like, oh dang. That aim high, man. We played an A high. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, you know something. Yeah, you already know. So, man, we played an A High, we're blowing everybody out, make it to the championship game. We got who we got playing? Moager, though. Coach like A. They got the six six five point guard. He bad boy. I was like, all right, man, we're gonna throw this press on him. We're gonna run them, run him out the gym. Man. Mo Eager broke y'all down. That's what blew the assignment, man, man. Who? You oh man, you did. For real? Oh man, uh, I left that man wide open. He's under the room. This point guard founder, because we had them all locked up. He's like, man, they couldn't make a shot off. He's like, hey, all we had to do, we had to one point lead. We like, hey, as long as they don't get no shot, we good. Locking the ball up, they move the ball around, point guards get stuck. Man, we all everybody claps. Mo, right down, they're like, Juanga, you supposed to get down low. The went off to him, vertical. Boom. Game. Game time. I would have been sick. I would have been sick, man. Moager, I'll never forget. I was like, dang, duh. Moager was like that. He went to the league too for a minute. Moager was like that. Yeah, Mo. So I agree with you. I see Mo, Mo was a baller. Yeah. Super athletic. Man, athletic. Man, that boy was. He was like, dang, he point guard. Man. He went to state. Yeah. He went to state, played for his own. Yeah, hit the Shannon Brown. Shannon Brown from Chicago. Yep. Yeah. I was like, man, they had a good run, man. For sure, man. Yeah, man. Now I remember that message I sent to you the other day. Oh, yeah. All right. Now you from Detroit. I am. Best high school football team right there, right now. You about give me here some trouble again. Oh yeah, yeah. Best football, high school football team. Castec, they had King. They had Brother Rice. Brother Rice. Celine. Selene. Detroit Catholic Central. Catholic Central. Oh man. Man, the best I ever seen was that team that Bellville team, Bryce Underwood, had. Yeah. Maybe like three or four years ago, but they didn't won the state championship. They was tough. They were tough on both on both sides of the ball. But um this year, I'ma say I'm gonna go with King. Marla the King. I like King's. I'm gonna go with King. You was thinking King. Oh yeah, she was she down there in the trenches. You in the trenches? Really? I'm just joking. Yeah. I work on the West Side. You work on the West Side? Yeah. Yeah. So how's how's teaching in uh Detroit area? I know. It's not really as bad as people think. No, I know, but no, I I mean I guess like on the news or whatever people hear, it's like a bunch of kids in the classroom only got like 14 kids. No, and I I was I was thinking that's what I was thinking about. That's what I was thinking about the size. Yeah, yeah. So, and I got everything I need in my room. So I guess the school I work at is pretty decent. I work at Coleman A Young elementary school. What got you into teaching? Honestly, don't know. Yeah. I wanted to be a psychologist, but uh I like creating more and seeing uh the results, so I guess that's what keeps me in the teacher, just seeing how they start and how they branch off to be really wise and do other things. So how many kids remember you when they come back and say, Oh I'm quite popular. Yeah, yeah, okay. Okay, dance. Okay, dance from kids and I don't even know there, but yeah. Yeah, yeah, they definitely say that. Miss Pride? Yeah. Yeah. Miss Pride. Yeah, it's um it's it's a pleasure to work with kids in in Detroit. Yeah, it's really cool. Alright, so now we all being experienced in the Corey Union on this too. Working with kids nowadays from kids growing up uh from where we grew all grew up. Like, what's the thing y'all think is needed in the community now with kids now? Guidance, discipline? Yes. Parenting it's like a long list. That's about say, uh, like do it need to come more from the home? Yes. Yeah, from home. Oh yeah. Because like, I've I'll tell you this. Me, especially coming from like being in the high school and stuff, yeah, is a lot of these kids, they're not gonna respect you unless you you gotta earn it with them, right? Yeah, but you're not gonna be able to tell them something and then they turn around and go home, and it's the complete opposite that's allowed at the house than what you're trying to enforce at school. Yeah. It's like if they mama let them talk to them any kind of way, and they saying that to you, and you're like, hey man, chill out with that. They're gonna keep doing it because they're able to do it at home. So a lot of the time it started at home, but the problem is now is that a lot of our kids now are literally being parented by kids. Yeah. Because everybody's having kids very young, and then you know, just having them now. And now they just now they just friends with each other. Yeah, like they not a it's not a parent-child relationship, it's a friendship. Yeah, so it's it's really not a lot that you can do from that. It it has to start at home. Yeah. I mean, but that makes all your job harder. Absolutely. That's why I just stick with the younger ones because I feel like that's a little easier. Oh, no, for sure. I heard that. Have you ever talked like teenagers before? I do like this summer. I'm gonna be working with Tuskegee Airmen, so I'll be working on middle schoolers. You didn't you don't even want to come on and talk about that. I mean, yeah, it's through Komina Young Airport. That's big though. What you mean? They're uh a STEM program. That's big. That's something to brag about. What you mean? She's better than that. I should be bragging about that. Go see it, and they pay really well. So I heard that. Oh, we do it. We good, we good. Okay, yeah, in the summertime, I guess I'll do a branch off to the higher degree or whatever. Then you like the younger ones better. Yeah. You feel like they're more receptive or more like just well. Yeah, I definitely think they're more receptive. Yeah, the attention span is a lot less. You ain't lying. Oh my god. You ain't lying. Yeah, yeah, that's true. But then some of them come in thinking they know everything too. So I mean, that's yeah, that's all of us when we all that age, and all this. Yeah, man. Yeah. Oh sure. That's all I mean. That's all I really have. Question wise, but I I got it for y'all. All right. First first date. It was at um's pizza in Canton, Michigan. Yeah. Who was uh who's the first one to ask? You asked her, or did she ask her? Uh it was a little bit, probably me. I mean, it was a little bit of her and me. You know what? It was kind of mutual, yeah. Yeah. Let's go back. Where did I first meet at? Well, it was like in front of the beginning. That's how it happened. Yeah, yeah. So that's how it happened, though. So um Shannon and I, we were friends on IG, right? On Instagram. Yeah. I don't even know how we were friends on Instagram. I don't have no idea. Yeah. But I just slid in her DMs because she was posting pictures and she was posting, you know, just posting facial pictures. I was like, man, who is this? I don't know her. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. So I just, you know, replied. You know how a person has a uh a story. I just replied to her story, said some kind of smooth. You know, I'm a smooth uh little smooth guy. Just trying to get her attention, got her attention or whatever. So we just chit-chatted, chit-chatted a little while. This is like 2021. Yeah. 2021. So we chit-chatted a little bit and then um we stopped talking for like maybe two or three months, and then she randomly just DM'd me and was like, Hey, what are you doing? Oh Friday. I think it was Friday. No, Thursday. She's like, What are you doing Friday? And I was like, I ain't doing nothing. She was like, Can you do me a favor? I was like, I hope it ain't no money. Because I ain't got that. I don't even know you like that. She was like, can you uh pick me up from the airport? And I was like, okay, I I can do that. So I uh I wanna pick her up, and it's like we just started rapping and talking and like hanging out from that day on, just every day, because she just gave me good energy. Yeah, you know what I mean? So we just kicked it. I was like, she alright. Yeah, yeah. You like that? She liked that, yeah, yeah. Yeah. What made you what made you attracted to him? Just a real guy. Like talking to him on the phone, you're just real honest, very straight to the point. What do you want it in life? Yeah. Man, I feel like I'm on a dating show. It's supposed to win. It's gonna win. I mean trying to answer the question of that. Hey, Corey, you silly day. Hey, no. Like, what is this level connection? We just get some in the football. I don't know how both I just know they just together. That's all good. It's all good. You took me off. I'm just saying, dah. I was like, bro. Like, what are what are we doing here? What's going on here? No, so being being a couple that dated after COVID. I mean, I know that's some challenging. I mean, at that time, was y'all was the world opening up a little bit? I feel like it was. A little bit. A little bit. It still was certain things you could places you couldn't go or nothing. But yeah, she um when I picked her up, she had a mask on. So I was like, I'm gonna make sure she ain't no killer or nothing. I was like, hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on, okay, okay, you into your pockets. No, but uh that's how it went. Uh it was right like right after COVID. It was cool though, man. We just like I said very uh off the limb. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Because COVID, that was when a lot of people shoot. That's probably why my when my marriage was breaking up too. Hey, yeah, you know, it was a but it was a lot of madness going on back then. A lot of people, a lot of divorces, a lot of all that stuff, you know what I'm saying? But y'all follow each other. That sucks. I just feel like when you do the work within yourself, you attract decent people. There you go. All right now. You know what I'm saying? All right now, okay, cool. I like that. I'll say that. What would be your advice for people that's dating out today? Because you know, dating today is live. That sucks, right? Yeah, it is hard. I would say, I would say date yourself first. Come on, man. You know what I'm saying? Date yourself first. Even for the fellas? You see, yeah, for the fellas too. Find out what you like to do, take yourself out, get yourself together, because you got to learn yourself before you can learn another person. So I feel like date yourself, man, see what you like, yeah, and see if those two worlds, will you ever meet that woman? Because you gotta pursue her. She ain't gonna come looking for you. Facts. And I had to learn that too, because I thought I was a man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, Damn, you know what I'll let me. So, but no, seriously, though. You gotta uh see me, you see five, baby. No, but you gotta date yourself though for real, Twin. Date yourself, and then um and just be honest, man. Be honest with yourself, be honest with yourself. And then, because I feel like if you can be honest with yourself, you can be honest with anybody. You know what I mean? And then I think it it'll it'll come together. Yeah, it'll come together for real. What about you saying for the ladies? I would also say date yourself. Um, see God, let him bring the person to you. Don't go looking for Just keep an open mind. Really? Keep an open mind, really keep an open mind. Alright, real talk, real talk. Was there any compromise? Ah, we just talked about this before y'all before we talk about it. Oh, between me and her, between each other. Like, I mean, like, you know, we all have like our idea things, something like, you know, everything our list put together, something like that. Y'all ain't gotta go into super big depth or nothing, but it was like, you know, was this something that you was like that you just was like, oh, I gotta do this, but let's say it's partially there, but not all the way. He's like, oh, I can live with that. Or go ahead, Shanna, you can answer that. Put the breath up. Yeah, I was thinking about it. Uh you can go. Uh, I mean, well, well, uh, I would say Shanna is a neat freak, right? You know what I mean? So she wants everything in order, everything gotta be folded tiles, put put your uh make the bed up, mash the socks together. If me, I'm a dude, I just be like, man, I get to it. Toss it on the room, you're gonna toss it in the room on the floor, I get to it tomorrow. Yep, yep, yeah. Yeah, and I and I and and honestly, we used to collide clash with that a lot because she'd be like, You're not gonna, what are you gonna pick it up? She's gonna be like, I'm gonna get to it when I feel like it. You know what I mean? So I'm almost there. I see I'm gonna get to it, but it's like with her, she just is 12 years, I already know on top of it. She used to be on top of it, but you know what? And I and that's when I knew I wanted to be with her because I knew I needed that, yeah. You know what I mean? Because I am unorganized at times, and she always is like on top of everything. And me, I'd be like, I'll get to it tomorrow. You know what I mean? And she used to be like, no, you can do it now. Sometimes being opposites help it helps. I believe so. I would say um he's obviously a lot more social than I am. Oh, that's no problem. So I think um just you know, going to places and I guess talking to people. True, for example, you on this episode. He kept on uh act saying telling me about it. I'm just like he just playing. No, I really no. I like that that he asked that. Yeah, I know if he's asked. No, no, I I love that he asked that because I was like, oh man, I was like, man, he's a real woman. It's like man, I don't see no problem with that at all. Let's go bring it on. Yeah, look at that. I didn't expect to be sitting here. D y'all got this big news. I'm like, come on, man. Yeah, yeah. How many people root for y'all? We got y'all. I appreciate that, man. Appreciate that, man. Thanks, man. Yeah, man. So yeah. For sure. We all are older now, so it's like, man, yeah. I just married young, so I yeah, yeah, I I I get a second choice, hopefully. Yeah, of course. I will. Nah, but this is this is my people's Jean Shannon. I got it. See, I got it. I got it. Yes, yes, yes. Y'all don't y'all know why we cheer for that. Don't even worry about that. No, but we reached a point in our show where we uh it's called, I don't, I don't, I don't like to call it at will moments. It's what we do at will. For you know what I'm saying, you know, out. It could be a week, month, or whatever. It can be a mission. So uh it's like every week we ask our guest uh what are you willing to do at will? You know what I'm saying? Like from anything passion projects or anything, just it could be small goals, like hey, I just want to eat better or something like this. So I'm gonna I'm I'm gonna go first. You know, I'll be like, at will. I had a good week working out, eating better. Okay. Man, I had a great week. So bad I was so sore on Friday, man. Um gosh, bro. Man, I I came to uh praise team rehearsal or whatever. Man, I was walking like an old man. Everything hurt. I couldn't wait for rehearsal to get over with. Man, I was like, all right. I was like, uh, I was like, I was like, man, yeah, are we done? All right. My legs so hurt, but it uh it's better because I can see the results a little bit this week. Uh step on the scale, a lot better results than what I wanted. Okay, okay. Yeah, I just feel better, you know what I'm saying? So I was like, so yeah, I'm gonna continue that. Uh yeah. Okay, throw. So yeah, I would continue that on, you know what I'm saying? Trop as many pounds as I can before you know the big trip, you know what I'm saying? Who you telling? Who you telling? Yeah, for sure. So yeah, but that's my that's my uh will. Well, uh what I'm gonna do at Will this week, uh, or from here on out. So what's up with you, Corp? Uh Will. What you gonna do at Will? I'm gonna try to keep up some cardio. Cardio. You don't want to hit me about the cardio. My cardio, my cardio this past week, because I was in the I was I was down in the gym three three days this week. Three days? I was hooping. Oh my goodness. I was hooping. Well, I was down there several hours of the day. That's cool though. Yeah, that's cool. I was like, I need this, I need this cardio to get this, you know, moving, get some sweat going and all that stuff. Cardio, we're gonna keep that up. Yeah, uh try to reach out, do some more stuff as far as business things. Uh how's business going? It's cool. I mean, I gotta do better on my part. It's just it's going into the summer now, though. I know I'm going to have to uh I'm I'm going to have to um promote yourself a little more. A little bit more. It's kind of like with the year, school year wrapping up and everything. I was like, I kind of want to get this out the way. And then now going into the summer just full fledged. Yeah, it's y'all last week of school, huh? Nah, but with that, I'm I mean, I'm hoping, I'm hoping because I I had this opportunity presented in front of me. Yeah. Um it wasn't really presented, it was just talked about. So I kind of kind of pushed him like, hey, like, we gonna do this or you know what, like, just so I can try to get something going. Yeah, I hope that's for the summer. Yeah, I'm hoping. I ain't gonna say I ain't gonna say what it is, but it's a lot of different things that's happening this summer that I know that I could probably do. And uh not I'm not just looking at it more so for the money purposes, but like I I would be able to come up and promote myself better, expand on my portfolio, and then also uh what is it, just get better at what I'm doing, get more opportunities back together. Uh so with that, just hopefully get more opportunities, more um things in front of me. That way I can kind of just network more. Expand that resolution. Yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, for sure. My bath rambling a little bit. I had to think about I had to think about words. It'd be like that, you know, useful. Um at will you willing to do at will what I'm willing to do at will. Um continue to eat healthy and be healthy spiritually, mentally, emotionally. Um I like creating products for kids, so I use them in my classroom, so that's a passion for me, so working on that more over this summer. You got something in mind for summer? Like you got some big projects coming up? Um, no, I'm working on another certification, so um gonna pass. Yes, yes, yes, you are. Yes, you are, yes you are. What's up, big aunt, man? What's up? I just got to say that see it one more time. Sean, man, on you, man. What's up, man? Um, what I'm willing to do at will. Yeah, man. Um exercise a little more. Yeah. Uh you know, I work in the big three, work for Ford. So uh I shouldn't have asked about that, man. Yeah, yeah. I forgot about that, man. Other other times. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. For sure. Um the job is so time consuming. You know what I mean? So by the time I get off, I don't be feeling like going to work out or pick up a some people that just don't understand. And I'm like, I'm I'm like, this job is a workout in itself. Yeah. And I be wanting to like I'll be wanting to go to the gym and go hooped, and nephews, they 18, they call me. I'm like, man, I ain't doing that. Yeah, right, man. It's like man, hey, I just work 10, 12 hours, bro. I'm tired. Get ready for tomorrow. I'm gonna do it again. There you go. So you feel my pain. But at will, I'm willing to do that this coming week. Is uh get back in the gym and get some shots up and get like you like Corey said, get a little sweaty. I ain't chasing no kids or nothing though. Nah. I just run it up and down the car. Oh, yeah, of course, then man. Uh so and then eat a little better because I do have a sweet tooth. Okay, so eat a little better for this big trip that's coming up in a few months. No, I gotta get that together. That's a month away. Oh, a month. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. So we gotta we gotta get that together too. So at will at will for that for sure. Yep, so yeah. So that's really just it for now, man. Yeah, well, I I I got something in mind, man. I want you to be a part of, man. What's that? We'll talk about it off. Okay, okay. Okay, okay, okay, okay. I got you, I got you. All right, cool. Okay. I can think we we can do something, man. I'm with it. But yeah, but yeah, that's what that's that's our show for today, man. Hey, got my people, John Shannon. Yes, yes. I had to say three three times. Nah, man. But hey, like we say, man, do keep doing your purpose, do your purpose at will. We create, we speak, we live at will. All right, we out of here, though. Thank you. All right, thank you.
