] The year 2026, the gates of Epic Universe have swung open, unleashing an entirely new era for Universal Destinations and Experiences. The ground rumbles with coaster tracks, portal shimmer to life and somewhere, and unsuspecting traveler is still trying to figure out which ticket they need.
Don't worry, I'm here to help you survive the chaos. This is Unlocking Universal, and today we are decoding the brand new ticket lineup for the Epic era.
Welcome back to Unlocking Universal, your Key to all things Universal Orlando and beyond. Now here's your guide and unfair Advantage Holli.
All right, friends 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years ever for Universal Destinations and Experiences. We now have Epic Universe fully open right here in Orlando. Universal Horror Unleashed thrilling fans in Vegas and Universal Kids Resort is opening in the spring of [00:01:00] 2026 in Frisco, Texas.
Oh, and Universal just announced a brand new park coming to the uk. It's a massive year for the entire Universal family, and on a markedly smaller scale, but huge in my world. I finally made my first visit to Universal Studios Hollywood,
including an incredible Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood RIP tour. It may not be headline news ,. But since it was a hosted NBC Comcast training event, yeah, that's pretty big for me.
With all that growth comes a completely new way to think about tickets at Universal Orlando Resort. This isn't just a rename, it's a total restructure to make things simpler and clearer for guests. So today we'll unlock what's new, what's history, and how to make the best choices for your next trip.
In the past when you heard 3- Park Ticket that meant access to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay, but [00:02:00] starting in 2026, that's no longer the case. Your standard 3- day or longer ticket automatically includes all 3- dry parks, Universal Studios, Florida Islands of Adventure, and the brand new amazing Epic Universe.
No more add-ons or ticket juggling if you wanna visit Epic. It's just part of the experience now exactly the way it should be.
If you visited Universal Orlando in 2025, or have listened to me for a minute, you'll remember those marathon ticket names. Like 3- Park, 3- Day Park to Park Ticket plus one day at Epic Universe. That's 14 words for one ticket. Come on now. Thankfully gone. Well, mostly now you'll see clean names, like 3- Day Park to park ticket.
Boom. Cut it down to six words. I can handle that. It's much more streamlined now with the number of parks. Defined by the ticket itself, not a label in front of it. That said, a few [00:03:00] remnants will stick around one in two day tickets for 2026 will still work like they have in 2025.
They include Universal Studios and or Islands of Adventure, and you can add a single day at Epic Universe if you wish, but you won't be able to park up between Epic and the North Campus parks with it, as is the standard with all single day single park tickets. It's a little bit of DNA that's still hanging around and I fully expect it to fade eventually, but we have to remember that Epic is still very new.
In the past, a 3- park ticket automatically meant Volcano Bay was included. that was the third park. The two park ticket covered just the two original dry parks, Universal Studios, Florida, and Islands of Adventure. For 2026, that changes. Volcano Bay isn't baked in anymore. It's an intentional add-on, and you choose it by purchasing the park to park with Volcano Bay Ticket, it makes total sense.
Even cooler, having that park to park Ability baked right in means that [00:04:00] you can pop over for a couple of hours, get your slides on, float through the rivers, or just hang on the beach in front of Krakatau.
And speaking of Volcano Bay, this park made serious waves in 2025. On September 6th, it won the Golden Ticket Award for Best Waterpark, marking the first new winner in wait for it. 26 years before this Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort in Texas held that title.
For over two decades. That alone tells you how remarkable this win is. Volcano Bay is not your mama's waterpark. It's an immersive experience with storytelling and design that feels every bit a part of the Universal world. And get this, it's getting a major five month refurbishment beginning in October of 2026.
Sure. To make it even more fabulous when it reopens. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us.
And you know me, I have visited multiple times over the years and still I haven't gone down a single [00:05:00] slide because I'm just so happy floating in the rivers and chilling on the beach. I mean, it's that good. Personally, I see no need to fight traffic out to the coast, only to drag half the beach back with me in the car.
And a jellyfish stinger too. I much prefer my beach time with a side of refillable beverages and a heaping helping of Polynesian atmosphere.
Let's talk base tickets for a sec, because it always comes up, especially with my peeps that are more used to Walt Disney World, so I totally get it. But here's the truth, I don't bother with them, and I would only even consider recommending them in very, specific cases. To put it in perspective, out of every trip that I've booked over the years, I've sold one that's right, one base ticket, and that guest came back and said he should have listened to me.
Family and friends are the worst. Y'all. At Universal Orlando, the parks are too close and too connected to Skip Park. To park. You lose the flexibility to bounce around the North campus. When wait times or weather [00:06:00] shift, you can't pop into Volcano Bay at Will and you can't ride the Hogwarts Express. Plus now with Epic Universe, it's only a 12 minute bus ride away. 2026 is bringing us park hopping between all four parks and it's just too big of an opportunity to miss. Unlike at Walt Disney World where base tickets often make very real sense for lots of families, Universal is just a different ball game.
That freedom and flexibility are a huge part of what makes the experience so good.
So for 2026, how many days do you really need. Well, let's break it down with 3- dry parks and a fourth park if you're adding Volcano Bay, your absolute minimum buy-in should be one full day per park. That's a 3- day park to park if you're skipping Volcano Bay, or a four day if you're including it.
But these parks aren't meant to be rushed or checked off a spreadsheet. They're meant to be experienced and enjoyed. That's where the magic happens. Slow down just a bit and soak it in. And don't forget everything [00:07:00] beyond the gates, CityWalk, restaurants, and nightlife plus resort hotels with fantastic dining pools and activities like bowling and live performances, it can easily fill an afternoon and evening or an entire day.
To truly experience Universal Orlando Resort the way it is meant to be experienced, I recommend five full days or more. That's when it all clicks. And bonus. You don't go home from your vacation needing a vacation.
Okay. Remember how I've been hoping in maybe praying to the theme park gods or the tiki of Volcano Bay for multi-day Express Passes to return? Well, they did and I could not be happier. And the reason they rock so hard is because the more days you add, the lower your cost per day drops, by the time you get to that fourth day or the fifth day of Express Passes, the difference is insanely minimal and it's absolutely worth that extra day.
These single use passes , cover Islands- of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, [00:08:00] and yes, Epic Universe. That means that you can go back and forth between all 3- of those parks for the entirety of your visit using that Express Pass option.
And for guests not staying at one of the OG 3- hotels, this finally lets you access Express at a discounted rate without booking one of those specific resorts. Though those resorts are still an amazing option, this just gives us more options and we like options. It all just depends on what your goals are for your trip.
That's right. You heard me correctly. Every trip has a goal or two. Once you have that nailed down, you are going to have a much bigger chance of achieving the vacation of your dreams. Let me know if you could use help with that.
little side note, as of mid-October 2025, Universal has been testing a single Ride Express , where you can scan a QR code in the park and buy a one time skip the standard queue for rides like the Hulk, the Mummy, and [00:09:00] Kong Skull Island for 25 bucks.
It's a test likely for the peak days. And yeah, people have opinions as they do, But however it ends up, I trust Universal with this, because they protect the value of Express, they limit sales, adjust dynamically and don't oversell. That's why it stays worth having. Disney's model is different, but this is where Universal shines. I'm curious, would you pay $25 for Express access to your favorite ride at Universal? If so, which one is that? Text me through the link at the top of the show notes and let me know.
To recap 2026 brings a simpler, smarter, Universal ticket lineup that makes it easier than ever to experience the parks without confusion. 3- days or more now means Epic is automatically included. Volcano Bay can be added if you please and Express Passes are back in their multi-day glory.
Wondering which combo makes the most sense for your next trip? You know, I'm always happy to help you unlock the perfect [00:10:00] Universal plan for your family at no extra cost.
