Welcome to Words of Salvation. Have you ever heard the expression, who cares? Someone once said, if you think that no one cares about you, just stop paying your taxes today. Maybe you're going through a difficult situation, but let me assure you that Jesus knows and Jesus cares. He cares about everything that's going on in our lives. The Bible even says that the hairs on our head are numbered. I'd like to give an illustration about a pit. A man fell into a pit and couldn't get himself out, so an optimist came by and said things could be worse. A pessimist said things will get worse. A Pharisee said. Only bad people fall into the pit. This is your fault. A mathematician calculated how he fell into the pit. A news reporter wanted the exclusive story of his pit. Buddha said, your pit is only a state of mind. A realist said boy, that's a pit. A geologist told him to appreciate the rock strata in the pit. The county inspector asked if he had a permit to dig the pit. The tax assessor came along and figured the taxes he owed on the pit. A professor gave him a lecture on the elementary principles of the pit, a health, wealth, and prosperity. Preacher said, just confess that you're really not in a pit. But then Jesus came by and without speaking a word, reached out his loving hand and helped the man out of the pit. Once again, let me assure you that Jesus cares. David describes his salvation experience this way. In Psalms 40 and two, he says, he brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the Myy clay and set my feet on a solid rock. God cares about you when we think no one else cares. He cares. I'd like to give a scripture from one Peter five and six where the Bible says, humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you. The sad reality is that most people simply do not care what happens to others. They do not possess compassion. In fact, I would venture to say that most people don't even know what it means to have compassion. God is full of compassion and love and mercy, and we see from the very beginning, God's compassion and care for his people. God's careful creation of the world and mankind comes to mind as he provided everything that man needed. And even when man sinned, his compassion was demonstrated upon Adam and Eve as he made them a covering of skins. And I believe personally, he had mercy up upon Adam in the garden and blood was shed to cover his sin. When we read the gospel, they tell us of Jesus and his great compassion for mankind. We see that our savior was moved deeply in his inner being by the needs of those around him. Jesus cared when he came across blind man in Matthew chapter 20. He had compassion upon them and touched their eyes, and immediately they received their sight. When he came across those who were misguided and confused and the multitude came to him. In Mark chapter six, the Bible says he was moved with compassion toward them because they were as sheep not having a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things. He even cared for a woman who was taken in the act of adultery and about to be put to death. And Jesus said this. Let he that is without sin, cast the first stone. Now the ultimate demonstration of compassion was the cross of Calvary. God demonstrated his love and compassion by giving his only begotten son. Jesus demonstrated his compassion by being willing to give his life. Romans five and eight says, God commended his love for us, and that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The cross was meant for us. It was a penalty for our sin. And when you come to Christ and true repentance that sin, debt is forgiven. We believe and teach a no so salvation. In other words, you know in your soul, the very moment that Jesus saved you. I'm so thankful that he had mercy and compassion upon me when he saved my soul, and he continues to show his love and compassion. He knows our every need. Jesus noticed all the people around him and their needs. You see, we get so caught up in ourselves that we often fail to be truly moved by the needs of others. Some are naturally more nurturing and compassionate than others. A mother's heart is full of love and compassion because God made her that way. But compassion is often a learned behavior, and the lack of compassion often stems from a focus on oneself and a lack of a focus on others. We learn compassion when we truly experience the compassion that comes from Jesus. Jesus disciples, on one occasion wanted to bring down judgment and fire and justice on those that rejected him. But Jesus was willing to show love and compassion because he saw their true needs. You see, often we really don't see the true needs of other people on a spiritual level. Were too caught up in living our own lives. Not concerned about other people. It's sad, but often that's just the way we are. We want to call down the fire and punish others for their wrongs when there are so many sins in our own lives that we ourselves just need the mercy of God. Jesus had to teach his disciples about compassion, and we still need to learn these lessons today. Jesus responded to the people he did not ignore and Jesus will not ignore you if you will. Call out to him from the depths of your heart, from the very core of your soul, confessing your sins, trusting him. He will give you the peace, the strength, the encouragement that you need if you'll simply trust him there are many acts of compassion that I have never forgotten. A wife that held my hand and never left my side in a difficult hospital stay. A preacher that came to see me as a little boy when I was sick and simply gave me a quarter, a lady that had very little to give, but after ministering to her, she gave a small offering that I've never forgotten, but the greatest act of compassion was the night Jesus saved my soul. Jesus cares and has much to give today. Have you ever experienced the kind of peace that I'm talking about, the kind of peace that he has to offer forgiveness when you realize that you're a sinner in need of a savior? I pray that you have had that kind of experience with Christ. Jesus cares, and if we'll just cry out in our time of need, he will hear us. Compassion is a spiritual perspective to Christ. All our needs are important, but he knows the true needs of our heart and soul. He knows the spiritual needs far outweigh our physical needs. Jesus feels compassion in every situation, but often physical suffering takes precedence to our real spiritual needs, and sometimes Christ allows us to suffer that we might learn to trust him. He is a wonderful and a gracious savior today. He wants to save you. He loves you. He showed compassion to all those that came unto him. His love is endless and knows no boundaries. So that's the message today. Jesus cares when you think no one cares about you, turn to Jesus. You're not alone. He is our savior. He's a loving and compassionate savior. But we must acknowledge. Our shortcomings, our failures, and trust him and him alone for our salvation. Thank you for listening to Words of Salvation. This ministry is sponsored by Words of Hope.
