In this episode we examine the Jehovah’s Witness teaching of “soul sleep” and compare it with the broader biblical case for conscious existence after death. The Watchtower teaches that humans do not have an immaterial soul, but rather are souls, and that death is a state of unconscious nonexistence until a future resurrection. We look at why the biblical language of “sleep” refers to the body in death—not the soul—and why Scripture points to life with Christ beyond the grave.
