Speaker 1:

Ready, hey queens. Welcome back to another episode of the Daily Buzz. A listener sent in a question saying I work as a bridal consultant selling gowns. I think the biggest question I get is when should I start shopping for my wedding gown? This is a good one because this is such a good one.

Speaker 1:

This is like one of the biggest components of the wedding day is the wedding dress. So if you guys want to hear a little bit more in depth, we actually have an episode with Poppy from Colby Bridal where we talk all things wedding dress shopping. But for a quicker answer, we would say about a year out to start looking for your wedding dress, because you guys have to think about the time it takes to ship here, because when you go to your appointment you are trying on samples. These are not the dress you'll be taking home, unless you know you go to a bridal expo and they're doing that. Otherwise you will have to order your dress.

Speaker 1:

I remember I ordered, I went in September and my dress didn't get there till about March, so I'm terrible at math. Months later it finally arrived and I had to do so many alterations appointments. I was in between sizes, so then I had to go to about six or seven alteration appointments and that took months on months to get done and you do not want to be rushing on your wedding dress because that is a big deal. Get done and you do not want to be rushing on your wedding dress because that is a big deal, so make sure you plan ahead. I don't know what you think, kelsey, but yeah, I think that you don't.

Speaker 2:

People forget how long alterations can take. So, yes, I know that Poppy gave us all of her expert opinions and thoughts because she is in the bridal world. So, as soon as you get engaged, start picking out that dress, that style, the vibe, what you're thinking. Start booking those appointments, because it's going to take a minute to get into those appointments and start trying on dresses. Like you said, Grace, it takes about seven to nine months for a dress to come in because they are typically custom made in the sense of they, you know they, they design them on demand. They just don't have them sitting in a warehouse. They're not Sheen or Timu. So unless you buy it off the rack, you are going to have to wait for that to come in. And then, like you said, alterations take a handful of time.

Speaker 1:

And making sure, too, you get all of your other bridal accessories too as well. Making sure you have your shoes soon enough, because you'll need those for alterations, of course. If your dress is too long, they'll have to accommodate to, of course, your wedding shoes, because they don't want the dress to be too long or too short, or too short, exactly as well. There's that too. We don't want it too short.

Speaker 2:

I know you're like a lot taller than me, but I'm saying you said we don't want that either.

Speaker 1:

And also another thing your veil as well. I had to order mine and I think even that took about three months and I just ordered it. I didn't even get a custom one and it still took three months to get here. So making sure you are well prepared and you have everything ready to go, because you want to look perfect on your wedding day.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and we won't even get into the topic of body changes through the wedding process, because so many girls love to you know, get fit, so don't stress about that aspect of it. They will ask you at their, at your appointment, you know. Do you anticipate any changes? You know if you're going to do anything cosmetically?

Speaker 2:

I know we were just talking about food jobs earlier, but but if we're, you know, if, if you're considering any of that, maybe toning up, don't, don't stress that aspect of it. The professionals are really good about having those conversations and and what that looks like, so yeah, and you have to be mindful too If you go.

Speaker 1:

If you end up doing multiple dress appointments, I mean you could go and then you have to make another appointment and that is two more weeks pushback. So just make sure that you are well prepared and have plenty of time, and that is your daily buzz.
