Like, have you ever noticed that you cannot simply appear somewhere in a video game the way you can in a dream? You have to load in. There is a pause, a progress bar, a held breath, and then you are standing in a world that did not exist for you a second ago. Kids do this a dozen times a day and think nothing of it.

For the parents and teachers listening: the hours your kid spends in built worlds are not hours stolen from imagination. They are practice in world logic, world rules, and moving between them. Those are the same muscles. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't go outside and flex their real muscles sometimes, too! So balance is important, as in all things.
